How would you react to this threat by scheduler?
Before offering any comments, it would be helpful to have the background about your friend and the shop, why the reschedules, how many times, what the shop is, etc.
I would not call that a threat. The scheduler is stating what will happen if deadlines aren't met. Although, I really can't stand that 'citation' nonsense. As mentioned above, knowing more about the circumstances would be helpful.
I don't think that was a threat. I believe the scheduler told your friend exactly what would happen if they flake or put in a late report for the shop that was assigned.

My fellow shopper got this and was upset,called me to ask me what to do. I said I don't respond to threats; I would not do the shop and eat the loss of time and money.

Are you actually writing about yourself and not a friend? Why would anyone be "upset" at getting this? This is not a threat. This is a cause-and-effect explanation. If you are actually writing about yourself, it sounds as though you have dropped a shop and deserve a couple of citations. If you are truly writing about a fellow shopper, it's unfortunate that you are encouraging another shopper to view this as a threat rather than explaining the realities of mystery shopping.
She is new to mystery shopping. I think the tone of the "threat" is what upset her.
OP, want cheese with that whine? I think it's clear that SPG has not issued a threat and that this is a very inexperienced mystery shopper. A couple of SPG associates read here. Perhaps they will recognize the situation the OP has descried and just deactivate her. That would probably be a blessing for SPG and it would solve the OP's problem.

We can tell more than one extension was requested for the shop due Monday morning because "extensions" is plural. Today is July 28, Monday is July 31, the last day of the month. They need that report by 6 am so there is time to edit and have it finished on time.
Whether it is a threat or not is irrelevant. I am amazed you would recommend she just not do the shop and leave the company hanging. What is the point suggesting she be so childish? She needs to just put on her big girl panties and realize it's business.

op's 'friend' needs to grow thicker skin & not join forum. weve had enough whiners & people asking for advce then throwing tantrum when responses arent what they want.
It's not very motivating that's for sure! If I wanted to be lectured and parented I'd work for my dad. So I would say that the scheduler was not at all professional and treated you like you were super dumb. I would be offended if I received that email. You aren't a child that needs scolding. If they think so little of their shoppers then maybe they should get a different job. Not your fault-- just shows their own low class.
I also think them threatening you with a completing meaningless citation is ridiculous. Who cares? If you do the job you are basically still making hardly any money--- which is why they are having a hard time getting someone to do it in the first place! If they compensated better, they wouldn't have these issues.
I don't view it as a threat. Heavy-handed? Yes, but I imagine with good reason. I have never received anything similar from a scheduler. Maybe because I turn in my assignments on time, and do not flake.

I would have added to the notification email that I would also be informing as many schedulers as I knew about this shopper's lack of commitment and reliability.

Agreed, recently I had a shop that I completed and when I went to enter it, I could not find my receipt anywhere. I looked and looked. I emailed the scheduler and told them I had finished the shop but could not find my receipt. I told him I would find it and enter. The shop fell off my list the next day so I emailed and asked if they could possible put it back on because I had found the receipt. His message was as follows "the shop is back on your list, it HAS to be put in TODAY". I didn't take it as a threat at all but a we are being nice because you are a good shopper but if you don't get it in, to bad" 
Schedulers work for our clients. As business owners ourselves, It is not the client's job to motivate us like a boss would be expected to do with an employee.
I'm sure most of us have been on the other side whether it was with another line of work or in our personal lives when contracting to have work done. If my lawn service was supposed to cut my grass on Friday before a party on Saturday and they didn't show, the only "motivation" they would get from me would be the choice to get their arses over here ASAP or find another customer.

My response would be to roll my eyes since the chance of me flaking on my shop is slim to none. I would have to be too sick to move or dead.

Absolutely agreed. But you likely would never get an email like this. Based on the OP's quote, the recipient of this email had already dropped a stop and received multiple extensions. This spells FLAKE, and I can't imagine you flaking even once, let alone multiple times. Your posts show a clear and strong work ethic. The OP did not provide any further information, even when asked for details, except to say "She is new to mystery shopping. I think the tone of the "threat" is what upset her.." Of course, the email clearly upset the OP, who is NOT new to MSing,, causing the OP to call it a threat and recommend that the new shopper "not do the shop and eat the loss of time and money. " What does that say about the OP?
Tell your friend to be on time with shops and reports, and if the schedule changes, then communicate that to the scheduler. Usually if you ask for extension to turn in report, or even to do a shop, you will granted the extension. But yeah...citation...unnecessary and wrong tool to motivate shoppers
Why should a shopper need to be "motivated" to do a job they willingly agreed to do? Some folks act like MSCs are supposed to be our parents or teachers or friends. This is business. The MSC is your customer not your forgiving mommy or daddy. Do the job you agree to do and do it on time. Don't whine about MSCs frustrated with your failure, or look for motivation from your own customers. You have it all backwards.

This is a great thread as a learning experience to new shoppers. Imagine what the scheduler is going through, on a deadline, that may or may not break the contract for the company that has gotten the shops. I'm not a scheduler, but I imagine they are likely getting multiple mails asking "when is the report going to be submitted?". And if it is lost, the mails come in "How could you give this important assignment to this flake?". There are a lot of tentacles attached to each and every shop we do. I've never communicated with a scheduler that didn't give me a break when life happens, as long as I communicated. You all have to realize there is more to the shop than just you meandering over to the location when it is convenient.
