I did a shop for a restaurant, my guest brought his drink from the bar to the table, and he wasn't supposed to. I didn't notice until we got to our table. I was truthful, and thorough in my report, mentioning the drink. I thought they may dock me a few dollars, or not pay for a portion, not completely reject the report, but that is what happened. I had used money we didn't really have to pay for the meal thinking we would be reimbursed.
Jhart, welcome to the forum. Don't feel too bad. You are not the only one who won't be paid for your rejected shop. When a shop does not meet the client's specifications, it gets rejected. Nobody gets paid. Your scheduler will not be paid, even though she did her job and scheduled the shop to you. The editor will not be paid, even though he spent time editing your rejected report. The client doesn't want the report so the MSC throws it away and nobody gets paid. The scheduler will have to find a new shopper. The editor will edit the new shopper's report. The correct report will go to the client and then the MSC gets paid. When the MSC gets paid, the shopper who did the shop correctly gets paid, along with the scheduler and the editor.
Lack of partial payment does not make Sentry a bad company, although I agree with walesmaven that you should read threads about the companies you accept jobs with. No matter what company you work for, if you do it wrong, you will not get paid. Sometimes companies can overlook a little mistake and still accept the shop and send it to the client. What seems like a little mistake to a shopper may be a deal-breaker to the client. No MSC wants to submit a deal-breaker report to their client. Be glad you told the truth and the client didn't view you on video and report your mistake. Then, not only would you not get paid or reimbursed, you would be deactivated from the company and the company might tell employees of other MSCs about the dishonesty.
Good for you being honest and telling the truth even though you outed your mistake. I've made mistakes that cost me money, too. It's a learning experience. How long have you been mystery shopping? It gets easier.
