Urgent ASAP-Help with Sinclar report

I'm filling out a report and there's no save feature
1. How long can I be idle and not get logged off?
2. What happens if I click on "check answers"

Is there a chance you can "print to file" or "print to pdf" on your computer to save info? Or "Select all" "copy" "paste" into a Word document?

In theory if you signed on for "All day" you should be able to stay live. I have done only one job for them on the new website and I thought there was a save at the bottom of the page.
My problem was there is no save feature on the particular form.(Scheduler says they're working on that) I was working on my laptop with no printer. I usually work that way, save my work, access it from my desktop, and print to proof it. This was my first job for this client, and it was a big learning lesson. I was planning to get half done last night, and half this morning. I ended up getting it all entered last night, but not submitted, hoping I wouldn't time out over night. I had to enter it all again this morning. Oh well, live and learn.
My laptop is not connected to a printer either. I can wander in and change the USB cable from the desktop to the laptop but I'm lazy. Generally I just save stuff to a thumb (jump) drive and shove that in the desktop machine to print.

There are a handful of MSPs that have no save function--the one that makes me craziest is Service Intelligence with that. The one Sinclair job I have done through their new website was a problem because they wanted a substantial narrative but didn't indicate maximum size. I did about an 8000 character narrative (in Word) which, when pasted into the form blew up the form because it could only handle 7000 characters. Luckily I could use the back button to go back and copy and paste the report into Word so I wasn't completely reinventing the thing.

Routinely I will hit "Select All" and "Copy" to get material from pdf files or other files where I can't just highlight and copy. Once the stuff is on the clipboard I can paste it into a Word document to save
I have been known to copy everything into a word doc. and email it to myself so I can open it up and print it to proof. Of course, everytime I make a change, I have to send a new email. Sure wish all msp's would have a save to PDF function!! I wonder how much time I waste messing with all this stuff. Alot, I'll bet.
I believe that Open Office (www.openoffice.org) actually has a pdf writer as part of the package. For those who don't have the Microsoft Office Suite or who have an older version that doesn't have the PowerPoint (needed for some Gapbuster jobs), it is a good, free download of very useable "Office lookalike" tools. It is co-habiting here on my laptop with Office and I'm not sure whether the "print to pdf" I have as a print option is from there or an antique full version of Adobe Acrobat on my machine.
With my version of Office, I can open powerpoints, but not create them. I've been trying all morning to set up remote access from my laptop to my printer. So far it's a no go. I think the base computer (my desktop) has to be set up as a server, but I'm not sure.
We monkeyed around with that a lot. It is supposed to be so simple [ROFLOL]

Both desktops are running XP, both laptops are running XP. We can network the machines well enough through the wireless, though they are likely to "un-network" as soon as any part of the system is turned on and when everything is rebooted the network is no longer there. Same with the printer. It is an HP Laserjet that is supposed to be networkable. We have been able to network between the two desktops that connect to the hub by cables, but if you turn off either computer the printer will be only on the original computer when systems reboot. . . the networking will have disappeared. Certainly the desktop that is host to the printer must be on for the printer to be accessible at all, but the networking under XP has defeated us too many times. Thus the thumb (jump) drives are faster and more reliable.

Joan, That just happened to me with the zoo....I was on non-stop for 2 1/2 hours, ouch...no save button. I think that's just plain rude, I don't think you have a time limit, just keep going, and good luck.
I think it has more to do with timing out after a certain length time of inactivity. If you keep doing things, you're good. But at 2 in the morning, I don't trust myself to do anything accurately. So I just dumped it and started over this morning. I had all my comments in a word doc. so I just had to make sure they matched all the boxes I had to re-check and then copy and paste.

I would print it out, but was too lazy and tired to start over....should be a law against "no save" your only human.....
My scheduler said they didn't have a save function because the report was too short. I don't consider comments on 6 interactions+observations a short report. I'd much rather write a start to finish narrative. Maybe I've been trained too well by Bestmark, and I write alot more than I need to. Wouldn't hurt to find out. Problem is, Sinclair doesn't give report scores.

Not familiar with Sinclair...my zoo report was loooong and no save....keep on trucking, you can do it. I'm ready to end ties with Cory and Bestmark. More 10 dollar jobs, he's a user.
I still think that a $30 reimbursement and a $25 gc w/virtually no report is not bad in return for doing a $10 shop.

Who says no report.......bestmark's reports are a pain in the ___.I just removed myself. I was promised a free gifcard, spending $30.00 is not free.
I meant the "fun" shops have no report. The electronics shop reports are not fun. I wonder if Cory has done any of them. I'll still take them, but I don't know for how much longer.

PS Did he fill up your inbox this morning?

yea, I just signed off...told him the reason in a nice way....don't make $$ with them. I just got a slew of elec. shops for 10 dollars and reports up the guzoo...he told me he's put me on the "fun" list (as email states), not a believer..
