Deactivated by Maritz

I received a very curt e-mail from Maritz a few weeks ago informing me I was deactivated. No further explanation. I haven't done anything for them probably in 2 years mainly because they had nothing that interested me. Maritz is pretty old school in some ways and they did call me several times about taking shops that I had no interest in. They left phone messages asking me to take shops and I didn't feel i was obligated to call them back just to say no.
I did send them an email asking why I was deactivated but never received an answer.

Perhaps they don't feel obligated to return your emails, in the same manner that you did not feel obligated to return their calls?
Yeah perhaps. My point was to illustrate that you can be deactivated for simply not doing any shops over a period of time. The subject was brought up on other thread with people stating they would never deactivate from a company because they didn't have any shops you were interested in. Maritz is kind of old fashioned imo.
This is not unusual. A shopper can be deactivated at any time for ANY reason, or for NO reason. As independent contractors, any time a company decides they don't want to work with a shopper, they can deactivate him. Any time a shopper decides he doesn't want to work with a company, he can cease working with them, no explanations or emails required. Maritz is rather old-fashioned, though, and it's nice that they let you know they were deactivating you. Many companies that deactivate shoppers don't let them know
They sent e-mails with the same shops they have had for years and I never pursued them so every few weeks they would call and leave a message asking if I wanted to take the same shops. I really don't know if they expected a return call for me to say no. With most companies you can stay inactive as long as you want but Maritz has their own methods of doing things
You probably should have called. They don't do email very well.
Yes, I agree. If you have been deactivated with them and you want to stay, give them a call.
I was deactivated from the Blue Banks as a disgruntled manager decided to "turn me in" and now that that big box store has been gone for a while, I probably am on my way to be deactivated. There hasn't been much available here execpt the Yellow "Clam" gas stations thta don't pat enough with more work (photos) being added.

Give them a call.

ces1948, it is odd that you were deactivated for inactivity, if that was their reason. I don't recall hearing other members stating they were deactivated by Maritz for inactivity. For years, I have been signed with many, many MSCs that I rarely, or never, shop for - without being deactivated. I do not return calls when I am not interested, unless it's requested. Similar to not replying to every email from MSCs stating I am not interested. It would be a waste of my time and theirs.

Regardless of inactivity, I want to keep the door open. We never know what client will land with what MSC. If it were me, I would phone Maritz, and inquire. They're usually friendly folks.
Hmmm ... I just recently started shopping, and I've done several gas station shops with Maritz. I really enjoy them. However, one scheduler has called me twice about another brand of gas station, and my plate has been incredibly full, so I haven't bothered to respond. I hope I haven't hurt any feelings.
I've been with Maritz for many years. Like Mert, I do not return phone calls or the seldom Emails for offered shops if I'm not interested in doing them. OTOH, I do continue to work with them on a weekly basis.
I do, however, return calls and the infrequent Emails when it is a request for anything that is germane to my relationship between Martiz and myself.
So, i agree that you should call, not Email, Maritz and speak to someone in the know (a supervisor, etc). I think I would just explain if I've been deactivated that I would still like Maritz to consider me as a possible contractor.
It may not have been inactivity so much as being unavailable at the contact number. I had two different companies deactivate me that I worked for occasionally because they said my phone number was invalid. It actually wasn't, I had turned off my options for voicemail on my personal line.

I just did a couple of banking shops for Maritz, they are great and they pay you fast. Good combination!
I have been with them since 2002 I think...I don't do shops very often for them, though, but I at least do a few a year which is probably why I haven't been deactivated. I really think a phone call can fix it for you.
I agree, they are much better with calls than email.
