Coyle report

I did my first Coyle report and will never do another one again. Two weeks after the report was submitted they are still asking me questions. SOme of them are so detailed that that I am curious why they just didn't ask them in the body fo the report. It would have made more sense. Many of them were just yes/ np answers and would not have needed the narrative.
It is hard to remember the small details that they are asking about. I took detailed notes but some of them I just cant possibly remember.
Give me A Closer Look anytime!! Theya re a least resaonable about the information and how they ask for it.

They require very detailed reports and their shops are not for everyone. They do want a blow by blow account of what happened and when.

I've done 2 different shops with Coyle, and haven't found them that bad. One was returned for revision for rookie mistakes, but the other was accepted the first time. They generally want comments in every section, even if it's just a yes/no question. Stupid, yes, but that's what they want. Just restate the question for yes/no answers that cannot have anything else to add.

Also, I learned the hard way that it is a little easier if you follow their example exactly.

I like the term you used. The politically correct term would be 'difficult.'

I was asked for the shape and color of an appetizer plate two weeks after a report had been submitted.
Luckily I had saved a photo just for personal use.

Some of the questions were ridiculous. Like were the menus dry and which side was the cofffee served.

I am a lawyer in my full time job, and I find their reports to be very involved. I have a great ability to remember things, and my writing skills I think are pretty decent as I do that for my job and have for 16 years, but the last one took me 8 hours to finish the report, an overnight shop. They have some great shops though. But you need to be prepared for their level of detail and how they want it written.

I agree with you. I have a semi photographic memory and even I had a hard time with it.

We love Coyle. Yes, it takes a long time and is very detailed. But we have a system and are able to complete most reports clean the first time. Once in awhile, I get questions. I also find myself doing other companies reports in "in the Coyle fashion."

Also if you follow their sample exactly, most cases they don't ask for more details. It takes a while to get used know what they want exactly and how they want it.

If there is a difference between what the guidelines say and what support says do you follow the guidelines or the answer from support? For a hotel stay the guidelines say to evaluate the PBX External Call section when making the reservation. I thought it odd and asked if the narrative would then be the same for both, so sent an email and questioned the guidelines. I told the PBX should be different from the reservation call.

The OP has highlighted two major problems with Coyle: 1) they request additional information well beyond 72 hours after a shop, and 2) they request information that was not asked for in the survey. These really put shoppers in a corner. There is really no obligation to provide this information yet who would want to risk the shop being contested and not being reimbursed and receiving the shop fee? Coyle already asks for an incredible amount of details for their shops. To then come back several weeks later and ask for more, which was not even required, is quite unreasonable.

I actually love them. That being said, I don't do any shops for them if I have a heavy workload otherwise within a week or so. I do a lot of their hotel shops and am quite happy doing those. I prefer them to Regal, who has the shopper write everything in third person. Way much more difficult for me to do that.

This, in a nutshell, is what Coyle does, every report, every day, every month, every year, and then if you DARE to question anything-their error on reimbursement, their instructions, their form, their inane editing question- no matter how 110% that you are correct...you get secretly banned from receiving any future shops, .....although they let you stay in good standing to waste your time in applying for shops....in a word...Coyle sxxxxx!

100% true. I used their template on my very first shop (Las Vegas) and have had no issues whatsoever.

Sometimes, I can't remember how to find the guidelines, so I text SoCalSteve in a panic. He's usually in some 5 star resort waiting for room service. (Insert huge eye roll here because I love him and hate him at the same time.)

I think that their upscale casual food-for-the-masses restaurant is super easy. I can do them in my sleep. Less difficult than ACL, just slightly more difficult than MF.
