What are the Odds? SeeLevelHX

Yesterday I received a pleading email begging for a shopper to do a shop about 30 minutes from me in the middle of nowhere. The email was addressed to ME. My name was in the salutation. The shop paid $25 with a bonus of $25 making it a $50 shop, which is a lot for me in my area. I immediately shot back an email saying that I was out of rotation, but if that restriction could be lifted, I could do the shop today. I received a response saying that was no problem and that the shop was in my log.

So today I do the shop. GeoVerified at 1:30 PM before I walked in the door. The shop took almost 40 minutes. When I left, I continued on to another shop an hour away in the opposite direction and got home around 4:10. Checked my email before starting my report and found an email received at 3:47 canceling the shop because I'd done the shop less than nine months ago. The shop had been removed from my shop log along with the ability to report it.

A flurry of texts, emails, and proof of shop has been sent and received. The scheduler's last email said that she was kicking it up the chain to her boss to see what they say.

So what do you folks think? Should I get the full $50 if I'm allowed to do the report? Should I get a partial fee if I don't have to complete the report? Has this ever happened to you with this company? If I had open an email received at say 10:00 AM canceling the shop, I'd've been disappointed but, oh well life happens. But after the fact? That's a lot of money, like 1/8th of my monthly payments so far.

This company did something similar to me, as well and the attitude was, "Oh well so sad...", but I persisted & kept my cool. I got the shop fee. When the shop was available again, I got the shop + the bonus from the previously awarded assignment. Be polite & catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
I am always polite. If I could take this shop again next year (when I'll next be in rotation) I'd be happy with just the shop fee, BUT I will age out of the shop next month. I really want to submit a report because the salesman made remarks I think the client would like to know about.

There's your answer in a nutshell. Once you received this in writing, you had a contract to do the job. If the scheduler shouldn't have made the exception, it's her fault, not yours. It's not your problem, it's theirs. But they're making it yours.

I think you should be allowed to report the shop and get the full promised fee. You'd already performed the shop based on their representation to you that rotation was "no problem." The scheduler should eat the shop fee if need be. But not you.

Pulling for you, kryswyn916! I hope you get paid in full. They waived rotation, then they unwaived it. Keep us posted.
Krys,

Your situation in just one of the reasons I terminated my contract with SeeLevel. In addition, when another MSC, Monteray with whom I had an excellent relationship, suddenly required I reinstate with SeeLevel or be terminated, I refused and they canceled our agreement The following year, Monteray attempted to reestablish with me, but I declined.
The whole "we dont ever give a bonus, so dont ask" in the emails really bugs me. I never took a shop for them until last month, I also got a $50 QSR shop. I did it, and since I was not out of rotation nothing is an issue. I just think this company should not be so cocky in their emails, most of us know you really bonus, why lie about it?

Orlando - lightly shopping NC
They seemed to think their shops were more highly-desired than they turned out to be. Their QSR shops required a test and they said "no bonus, don't even ask, because these shops are in great demand." I think they found out they were wrong - and with red faces, they waived the test. Then they started offering bonuses. This might have been a good learning experience for them.
Heard from the scheduler that canceled the shop (because she saw that I was out of rotation). I forwarded all the applicable emails. I'll keep everyone apprised.
You definitely should be paid. If they wanted to cancel the shop from you, they should have tried to contact you by phone and/or text too. Why do they have our information if they are not going to use it ?

Maybe this will be another learning experience for them. Given the sequence of events, and your applicable email documentation, I'm appalled that they haven't already notified you that you will receive the entire fee.

Be sure to let us know what they do and how long it takes them to decide.
Isn't "interesting" how many MSCs stress ad nauseam that your accepting a shop is a contract and a commitment and you need to live up to it, etc., etc., etc., but when the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak, apparently some don't think they're bound to the contract. But they are.

@kryswyn916, are you saying that a different scheduler (not the one who said the rotation wasn't a problem) cancelled your shop?: Sounds like they just might have a communication problem there, but it's not your problem.

Good luck!

Yes, I received the offer and had it approved by "M", it was canceled by "L", who in an email wondered why I was also emailing "M" as she, "L", had canceled the shop. So, yes, I think communication may be partially to blame.

I recently was emailed by a scheduler at Seelevelhx in regards to an upscale men's clothing store shop. A bonus was offered but apparently they were having trouble filling the shop. I emailed back and stated that I was not sure my rotation period was over and the scheduler then dropped it, citing the rotation period. Just this month my rotation period was over and I did the same shop with the same bonus.....my take is that Seelevelhx is strict about rotation periods. Which they have the right to be as far as I understand it as the rotation period (I'm guessing) is set by their client?

I am not disparaging the OP here btw.....I'm just stating my experience recently with rotation periods and Seelevelhx.
You absolutely had a contract and deserve full payment of $50. If they want the report you owe that to them if they don't want the report as they can't use it too bad but you are still owed your $50. Next time when your in rotation I would also ask for the $50 or even a little more as you know its a hard to fill shop. It does not matter if $25 is worth it to you why would you cut yourself out of additional pay you can get. Just a reminder to everyone you don't have to wait for shops to be bonused be proactive email and ask for a bonus.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

My 2 cents: smiling smiley

M offered you the job and confirmed that you were not "out of rotation." M may have gotten paid for you accepting the shop..(if that's how it works for schedulers) but then L saw you were not in rotation limits and L cancelled the shop.

Did M really look into this or did M receive a fee for the scheduling of your shop? (assuming schedulers receive a fee when a shopper commits to a shop) Anyone may correct me on that but I always heard they (schedulers) get paid by the shop assigned, so to speak, just as we get paid for performing a correct shop. smiling smiley

Every company is different, and I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with rotation schedules. If SeeLevelHX is strict about them that's fine (this was only my 3d or 4th shop for them). I work with another company that has learned they don't have another shopper in my area and routinely waives the 60-day rotation for their shops. If I didn't do them, they wouldn't get done. That is also the case with the shop I did for SeeLevelHX; I have seen that shop sit on the boards for months at a time. The bonus can go even higher. It can take $200 for someone who lives outside the area to make the trip.

If the initial response to my "hey I'm out of rotation, but..." email had been, "So sorry we can't assign you." I'd have been perfectly fine. If it had been canceled at 9:00 AM that would've been fine too. But I think the communication between scheduler and supervisor just didn't have the proper review time because of how quickly I was assigned and actually did the shop.
UPDATE ***GOOD NEWS*** After reviewing all the emails, "L" has agreed that I deserve and will be paid. She is now going to check with the client to see if they will accept my report. Thanks for all the support which made this drama much easier to get through.
It's good you are getting paid. At this point who cares if they are going to use your report or not.
Further update. In order to get paid, I had to complete the report so the payment process could go forward. I turned in an accurate, full report because that's what *I* committed to do. They are still not sure if the client will accept the report. I suspect after reading it, they might. However, if anyone wants to do a shop in the middle of nowhere, it's back on the boards again for $50 still.
