Las Vegas

I go there 2-3 times a year, and it will be great to do some mystery shopping there. I already have all the info on the license requirement. What I would like to discuss here is which MSC's have good assignments in Vegas. Does Coyle still do Vegas?

HS Brands, ACL, and QSi are basically your choices. Bestmark wouldn't take applicants that did not live in NV the last time I checked. I feel like maybe I'm missing one but can't remember who now.

One more suggestion: If you can go whenever you want - go early. Vegas tries to have all visits done in the early part of the month. They want stuff done by about the 15th so if you go the first 10-ish days of the month you can do a lot. Go the last 10 days you will be lucky to do anything
You can't mystery shop in Vegas unless you have specific paperwork. More info, possibly outdated - [www.a-closer-look.com] and [www.mysteryshoppermagazine.com]

hotsauce,
The shopper does NOT need a PI license. But, they must get a card authorizing them to shop as an EMPLOYEE of a firm that holds a PI license. Only about 5 firms both have a PI license and use employees to conduct all NV MS shops (legally). So a shopper, like the OP, who already has the NV card simply needs to apply to any/all of the companies that schedule and pay MS assignments for ALL of the many MSCs that have NV clients.

Also, if I remember correctly, one no longer needs to travel to NV to do all of the stuff to qualify for the card. The fingerprinting and other stuff, can be done by one's local or state law enforcement agency. The background check is done by the NVPILB (Private Investigation Licensing Board). The process is simple but takes time. The term "sheriff's card" is actually out dated, since the card is now issued by the PILB.

Wales, that is correct, I did not have to go to Vegas to renew my card, and it's good for 5 years. Getting the card is involved, background check, fingerprint, high fee and you need a sponser. There are many jobs at the Vegas airport, restaurants prevail,I just got back, and did several jobs there and a couple on the strip. They have many nightclub jobs which pay well, but start late...not for me. Bring good shoes as the walking will kill you, asking for a bonus is something I recommend. Customer Service Expert has many jobs there now, as does Coyle, but beware, they are tough and reports long. Going often works, as you stated, once a year, no, no way.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd like to make a trip to get the card and all of the paperwork someday!
Well, you will not actually get the card on that trip since the background check can take weeks. So, if you want it, you would do better to do that long distance and use it one your first trip. all-in-all, it cost less than $150, as I recall.

And could be even less. I got free notary service at my bank and my local PD only charged $5 for a fingerprint card. Some places charge $35+.

I paid 65.00 not long ago to re-new, didn't need to be fingerprinted or have another background check....that is what you wait for...get your ducks lined up before expecting to work...you will get jobs here on the Nevada site
and have to wait to see if you got assigned, everything takes time. I did not get free notary., I paid top $$.

Yes, the renewal is less than the initial fee.

Also, Preferred Investigation is another Nevada MSC that has tons of shops every month.

Irene, Bgriff, thanks for the info on the renewal. My card is due for renewal in 2020, and I'll more than likely start the process in 19' just to get ahead.

It took me about 6 weeks to get my work card. (they initially issued me a provisional card that was like a temporary work card) The fingerprinting and photo were quick. smiling smiley The fees were worth it and the work card lasts 5 years.
ERiC IN TAMPA....did you have to go to Vegas to sign up with the company you mentioned.

@Irene_L.A. Hey there Irene! I actually submitted my paperwork + fee during an IMSC conference at the Tropicana hotel a few years ago. The NV PILB had a table at the back of the conference room where they did fingerprinting, and accepted the paperwork that I had to fill out + payment. I think that it took 5-6 weeks to finally process everything when they sent me the NV work card in regular mail.

For me anyway, I found completing the Nevadav PILB work card process at the IMSC conference in Las Vegas that year to be very convenient.
ERIC...works if your in Vegas, I'm going back in March, gluten for punishment.......smiling smiley

Irene, If you leave early enough when traveling to Vegas, I would stop by the NV PILB office and fill out the paperwork. They may close at 5 PM during the week.
I have a NV license, did some great fine dining for Coyle until they stopped, and gave their assignment program to another MSC. I am getting a lot of emails right now for NV, but they are mostly for retail and small shops. Anyone know who does the nightclubs and fine dining? I will be going to Las Vegas again, 2-3, or even 3-4 times a year. Well, if there are great dining shops, whenever I can get at least two of them for one trip.
