Ath Power paying by 'digital checks'

has anyone received these digital checks from atth for august payouts? Not sure what to think about these. Are they a scam? I went thru process of accepting one yesterday and am regretting doing so. The website had the 'secure' lock on the http line.

I started a thread on this a month or two ago, when I received my first one.

I just opted for a printed check, and it arrived quickly.

No scam.
I received one yesterday. I tried their online process and it did not work so I printed the check and deposited it via online into my Wells Fargo account.
If it's secure (https:// etc) you're good. This is my 3rd round with ath paying this way and I've had no trouble. MUCH better than bill.com.
Just got a DD from Ath, but it was labeled as from Checkbook Co. I had forgotten that this is the pay system that they announced recently.

The digital check process from Ath is different, but it works fine. Just follow the instructions. What Ath is doing that concerns me is the new requirement to provide a photo of your driver's license with each shop......I just don't love the idea of having my DL and photo floating out there in internetland 7 or 8 times a year. Ath 'promises' to keep your information quiet and protected, but we have all heard that line before from much larger companies who have had data breaches......might be a deal-breaker for a lot of shoppers.
I have not seen this DL requirement.

Maybe I do different shops than you do?

Has this new method sped up the payment process? I quit working for Ath over a year ago because they had the second slowest pay schedule in the industry that I know of.
I've recently completed two shops for them. Each was paid the middle of the following month. Acceptable terms, to me.
My recent 9 shops were all paid about 6 weeks later. Not a problem.

This must be a client-specific requirement. Neither of the two banks that I shop for Ath Power requires a copy of my driver's license. There is one bank compliance shop that I do for some MSC which does require a copy of my DL, I assume it is because of some legal requirement.

I got an email saying the check will be deposited into my account and will be in my account 4 days later. I checked with Checkbook and it says that that is the way it works. I don't understand why it can't be a direct deposit right into my account. Does anyone else have this problem?
I don't like it either. Direct deposit is easy. Paypal is easy. This Checkbook company is unnecessarily complicated and ridiculous.
My "digital check" was automatically deposited into my checking account yesterday, just as it has been for many years. the transition to the new system was absolutely painless for me and required nothing on my part.

This is DD, but the MSC has an intermediary handing all the payments for them.

Do you see the money in your account. The check was deposited on the 15th and the email from checkbook says that it will be in my account by the end of the on the 19th. It still does not show in my account.

Yes, I saw the deposits in my account. My bank is also Chase.

The money appeared as "pending" in my account on Friday and was fully available on Saturday. Banks have up to 3 days to provide access to ACH payments. I see considerable variability among the banks that I have used (I have had multiple banks as a result of mystery shopping them).

@ShoppingDad I'm with you on the Driver's License shops. Identity theft is no joke! A scheduler reached out to me to conduct a few and I let her know I'm not taking shops with that requirement. She was able to find some that didn't have it: apparently it is only a select type of shops from that client. In case that helps you.
I just got notified about a payment from them. I wondered about it being legit but it seemed to have all the correct info. I was a bit concerned that anyone who got that email could have collected my money and that the only verification done was a code sent via a cell phone number that *I* entered during registration, as opposed to sending it to the email address they had on file. Good news is that this was a one-time setup and future payments will go to the same account, which they were able to verify online.

ATH really should have sent a separate email at the same time as the payment was submitted so we would know what was going on. Someone said we had been notified and I vaguely remember getting something a while ago but cannot find it at the moment.
I just got my first of these requests to upload my ID. I uploaded my passport. That number is never used for identification purposes (at least I've never been asked it).

My shop log says I was paid on September 1st. Nothing his arrived in my Bill.com account.
Ath Power stopped using Bill.com a few months ago. They now either send a digital check or deposit it into your bank account directly (which is how I get paid). The latter is the same as happened with Bill.com, but a different processor. That is what this thread is about. The new processor is called Checkbook.

I was paid by bill.com in mid-June, so it wasn't that long ago that they switched. This was the first payment I've had since then.

As for the depositing into your checking account automatically, presumably that is because you set up your profile with checkbook.io because I see no way to specify direct deposit info in your profile.

Look for an email titled "ath Power Consulting Corporation has sent a Digital Check" from "ath Power Consulting Corporation (support@checkbook.io)" on 9/2. It will have information on how to collect your money.

I had allowed Bill.com to make direct deposits, and the information transferred seamlessly to Checkbook. Some people here report that they actually got a link to a digital check that they had to download, presumably since they had not set up direct deposit.

Odd. I had to set it up all over again. I was given my choice of setting up DD, downloading a paper check (which presumably could have been deposited via your bank's mobile deposit feature in their app without printing it or directly via the bank's website if they supported that), or a mailed check.

I also had to go through a process to set up payment with the digital checks last month although I had been receiving payment with bill pay or bill.com or whatever it was called. This month it went automatically.

@MsJudi - did you get prompted to set this up somehow (re: digital check), or did you have to initiate it on your own?
