Market Force Gas/CS Night Audits

I don't usually see audits for these gas stations at night. This time around they started at a $6 pay and have now increased to $8 (not that that is an acceptable pay for a night audit!). The reimbursement amount is $10. If anyone has picked these up, I have two questions. What are they reimbursing for $10? And is this the standard audit or have there been any big changes?

I have not picked up any of these shops and doubt that I ever will. Just not my cup of tea. I don't like gas station reveals. One way to find out about the double increase in reimbursement is to accept one of the jobs and read the guidelines. I'm kind of curious about that. $10 worth of gas ain't bad, but the total compensation needs to approach double of what the total currently is to get my attention. Everyone has there own shops they like, and those they don't.

I have no problem conducting gasoline audits at night. I often get paid well to do just that. Only when the fee gets high enough will I accept a job and check out the audit requirements and reimbursement structure. Otherwise I risk having to cancel which is not something I do lightly.

I'm surprised no one else has info on these jobs considering this is the same oil company that is widely mystery shopped by the MSC. Maybe my original post was not clear enough. These shops are often offered as mystery shops at a starting rate of $8 with a $5 reimbursement and two required photos along with photos of infractions.

I know which company you mean, but I swore off their night shops several weeks ago because all of their stations around here use pump attendants and have tiny "stores" so you can't get violation photos except in the bathroom. $5 extra reimbursement doesn't begin to get me interested enough to accept the shop.

LOL! "Tiny stores"..... and often these tiny stores are closed when the sun goes down.

Yeah I couldn't imagine having to take outside photos with an attendant standing around and watching. Definitely not worth the money to me unless well bonused.

You in NJ or Washington state where they do not trust people to fuel there own cars.

It is actually NJ and Oregon (not Washington) that require full-service gas only.

At Oregon last year they voted that in counties with under 40k residents they can self-serve. These full service laws are from the 50s.

I’ve done them. You take photos to verify they are complying with a well-lit , safe parking lot at night or in the am hours. You aren’t suppose to reveal yourself in mine. You take photos from a distance. You are actually paid $10. Well, the ones that I have done are off of presto maps. It went right to my pay pal account. But I was nervous at first.

No, I'm in New York State which allows self-serve, but this particular client chooses to employ attendants at many of their stations.

My curiosity finally got the best of me and I scheduled one of these near home. The guidelines have been updated. Looks like there are a couple of new questions and maybe some questions have been removed. The guidelines state that the report has been more streamlined.

As far as the reimbursement, $3 of gas is still required, however there are no other requirements for the reimbursement so it seems that we can either buy more gas or purchase more in store.

I have scheduled 4 of these nighttime audits for this month. Sunset is 4:46 pm for my first location, so I will not be working late. I have not been notified of a job fee change, so I presume the pay is the same as last year (stopped doing the mystery shops because job fee dropped below my threshold), which is okay. Guidelines look somewhat more organized, and order of shop has been changed so that the unrevealed portion is short and easy. The non-specific increased reimbursement is nice, especially now that I have a hybrid car that struggles to allow 10 gallons in an empty tank. I have always liked these audits and will probably take all I can get. Fortunately, they are all open 24 hours in my home area.

I like these audits as well. They are easy and quick. I'm usually finished before the employee finishes the paperwork.

Did you see that we can pump gas at any time during the visit? That's odd to me and I'm sure I will continue to pump gas first.

I did the first one tonight, and I pumped gas first. It just seems more natural and efficient that way. Even when I am traveling and not shopping, I pump gas first, park the car, then go inside and visit the restroom and get munchies. It seems like most travelers do it that way. I do like the new organization of the form. I left a few locations on the board, because I could not fit them in my schedule by the 15th.

Well, at least it is not listed as you can shop when you can no longer distinguish a white thread from a black thread. That was the way we used to do war games back in the seventies.

The first gas station audit I ever did was this exact one..that was years ago! It took me 1.5 hours on site and then I had to return because I missed a photo. Nowadays I'm usually done in less than 20 minutes and still waiting for the employee to fill out the paperwork.

I think that someone new to this audit should expect to be on site for at least an hour. Once you start getting used to which photos to take and what types of infractions to look for, it goes much quicker. Also you learn about the flow of the station and spend less time waiting to get certain photos.

If you do not reveal yourself to the employee, then it is a mystery shop, not an audit. I stopped doing the gas station mystery shops when the pay went down to $10. The gas stations on the board now are revealed audits and pay considerably more than their mystery shops, which may very well be $8 - $10 in your area.

I stopped doing MF's full audits a long time ago. They were confusing and took to long to input. I switched to the mystery shops and only do them for $12-22. Plus reimbursement. At least in my area. They hit the board for less but I wait and always get more. Normally, over 16 dollars even for the local ones.

It seems another big change for those posted now is that you no longer have to shop between 7-9 pm? It merely states it must be dark outside. That makes a big difference this time of year.

Yeah that is something that I really like. I was getting so annoyed waiting for 7 pm when it was getting dark here before 5 pm. Plus that two hour window meant that I could only do so many shops without being worried that I would run out of time.

I have asked this same question in the past and didn’t get much info. The best answer I got was that they are reimbursing for the usual stuff, just more money for it. I still have not accepted one because of the unknown.

Well I've already read through the guidelines. Seems like generally the same audit just with a bit more reimbursement. My first one is tomorrow night.

How much in dollars can you pump in gas and get reimbursed?

The total reimbursement is $10. As long as you make an inside purchase the rest can be used for gas.
