Bare Now Using Tipalti Solutions Inc For Payments

I just got my first payment from BARE/Tipalti. The shop was for $24 (US) and they deducted $3.48 "transaction fee" for payment to paypal. I am in Canada, and as far as I can tell, ACH is for American transactions ("Automated Clearing House (ACH) is an electronic network for financial transactions in the United States"; "...you can NEVER do ACH transactions with a Canadian bank. Canadian banks only use EFT)". Every other MSC I work with, US or Canadian, pays via paypal or direct deposit. I don't think I should be losing part of my payment to a company that I have never heard of and none of the others are using. I have sent an email to BARE asking for an explanation.

russell.in.canada, There is a Global ACH system which Tipalti uses. You might check with them, but there may be fees (or not) to use it imposed either by Tipalti or your bank. You might have to have a USD account at your local bank. Additionally, at least if one has a US PayPal account, PayPal accepts ACH payments into it. You just need to get the ACH routing and account number to use from PayPal. A third option - once border crossing is normalized - would be to open an account with a US bank. Its complicated, but possible, to open one as a non-resident. (If you want details on how to do so, PM me.)

Soo. After the hassle of registering, and learning how to find the supplier's portal - we are suppliers - I saw the dash board so proudly talked about. It is as clunky a program as the old way was, though I think it does give you the job numbers you are getting paid for. Unfortunately, Tipalti no longer seems to have me as a supplier. *sigh*
Why can they not simply tell you when your job was paid on you shopper page, like a myriad of other companies?

I look at the fees like I look at the mileage that I drive for shopping. If you keep track of it you can deduct it from the income and then the taxes are less and the mileage will mostly pay for the taxes that year. Just as long as you have the money to pay taxes. Oh, and I have learned that you do not abbreviate anything when it comes to taxes.

Same here. I used to get paid just fine to my PayPal. Now a service fee I shouldn’t have to pay for. No more for me.

Deducting a service fee from my payment by Tipalti is no bueno. Not going to go with that for Bare shops. Nope

I didn't realize there would be a fee for Tipalti. I don't remember the original sign-up page noting that, but maybe I just didn't see it. That's really bad; fees are low enough without extra $$ coming out of them!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll plan on only taking shops from them that will make the fee inconsequential.

Is it a percentage of the amount, a flat fee, or a combination of flat fee + percentage, like PayPal?

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!

As far as I know, the payments from Tipalti go directly into my bank account without any service fee. Instantaneous update: I just checked my bank account. No deduction of any type = no service fee.

AS I just responded on a different thread, I am not paying any type of service fee, nor is any service fee deducted from my payments from Bare. The entire amount simply goes directly into my checking account.

What payment option did you select? I suspect that it was not EFT / direct deposit.

I believe if you choose Tipalti to deposit into Paypal, there is a fee involved.

I'm not sure why you would want to use two payment companies, Tipalti and Paypal instead of direct deposit from Tipalti.

Whew! I chose direct deposit, but am still waiting on a payment for this month, so I haven't seen a Tipalti payment into my account yet.

Some companies charge a fee for using PayPal over direct deposit. Second To None comes to mind unless they changed their policy.

ath uses Bill.com.

If you are a commercial customer (such as MSCs), PayPal charges a fee for them to send money to your PayPal account. Within the US, the fee is 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. For international customers, the cost is 4.4% plus a fixed amount which varies by country.

The MSC is already paying Tipalti and presumably, they don't want to pay the PayPal fee also. ath Power uses Bill.com (some other MSCs use Bill.com as well), and I have to assume that the cost for a direct deposit sent by Bill.com to my checking account is less than 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.

I have not been charged a fee for Tilapia (fish one) or Bill.com. Both go direct deposit after sign up. I don't have to do anything to get it.

The person who inquired is using Tipalti to send money to their PayPal account, not to direct deposit. That is why they are incurring a fee. You are not doing that.

The switch to Tipalti (for two MSC's so far) was an impetus for me to switch those payments to a savings account direct deposit. This is not a function of the service. It was just me, seeing that I could change up something else, too. Now, I just need to organize myself around directing more IC money to savings.

I signed up for a job with Bare through a scheduling company (don't remember which one) which was short notice - "it needs to be done today" kind of thing. After an hour or so I emailed the scheduler about the Tipalti registration. The scheduler said he would notify Bare. I did not receive a notice from Bare that entire day to register with Tipalti, so I had to cancel a high-dollar job. It really, really irritated me. If we are going to be forced to use their new payment system they should allow us to register in advance with Tipalti and not wait until assigned a job. And at least they could be more responsive!

My understanding is that you can't register with Tipalti until they are told to pay you. The same was true with Bill.com and with checkbool.io since they incur costs to process the registration and actually have to make test deposits. They don't want to expend any money to register you unless there is definitely a reason to do so.

Yes. I just accepted my first job through BARE, and the info I received clearly stated that once BARE owes me money, I will receive an invite e-mail to sign up with the pay system. So you can't sign up until after completing your first shop.

The info is all over BARE's website. I do sympathize; I almost cancelled this shop, too, after reading the announcements and info. Just too much hassle!

Paying Attention to details is a requirement for mystery shopping but some of still miss a few things. I know I did but I blame a lot of that on pi** poorly information that we get.
