Verites

The theater manager approached you? No, they don't get anything from Movie Measure. Movie Measure gets what you report, which then goes to the studio, and then the studio would contact the theater if there were any problems. What you record through your app goes directly to Movie Measure only.

Does the theater manager receive the trailer report from Movie Measure. Asking as mine approached a week later asking me if I overlooked one trailer which did not play.

I can see that happening if one of those "mandatory" trailers were not listed in your submission or auto match gave a completely different movie. What happens usually is the company will send you back on Saturday for a re-check with specific things to look for.
For one, if you auto match the wrong trailer, you will realize it, and can correct it. So that shouldn't be an issue. It's happened a few times to me, and I always catch it. A manager should not approach a checker on what they report, the only way you could have missed a trailer is if you showed up late. I've been sent back on Saturdays before too, because they didn't have what they were supposed to have on Friday.

*Update* I did get a couple of emails from my scheduler. She took down her scheduling site because there has not been any assignments for a while. VeriTes is still there, and last week she had a very, very limited Open check assignment for Moonfall. The available number of locations was in single digits. That being said, this is how they started out last year when everyone was first opening up after the pandemic, given a little more time, I think the number of locations and work available will increase.
Don't know if anyone is still hanging in there with VeriTes, but they just got a limited assignment for Fantastic Beasts Secrets of Dumbledore Open check. Not everyone may have heard from their schedulers.
Yes, I got that message too from my scheduler. But I doubt if they will ever do trailer checks again.

Were there any Open checks in your area? None in mine, but a ton for Canada and just a few in 2 states, for the area my scheduler covers. I doubt we will see trailers again or many other assignments as well. The last trailer was Venom in October 2021.
@Arch Stanton wrote:

It was for the same open check posted above.

What I was asking was, were there locations in your area available? There were no locations in my entire state for Fantastic beasts.
What I don't understand is why when studios give VeriTes work, they limit it. They give Open checking assignments to other companies and they don't limit them with locations, and how many locations they are allowed to assign. VeriTes has the same people most likely working between both companies so they get the same quality of work in return. It's not equal treatment.
Agree but maybe the first go to Movie Measure and if not assigned, they revert to Verites. Am guessing.
Movie Measure didn't get Fantastic Beast. So it all went to VeriTes in a limited capacity, much more limited than what Batman was when given to Movie Measure. From the same Studio.

Perhaps it's a test run? Just a thought. If they do well perhaps then they give them more?

They had Moonfall already on a very limited basis earlier this year, more limited than Fantastic beasts. But VeriTes has been around for years, so not seeing the need for a test run.
Silly me--I thought open checks were determined by what locations were suspicious.
Those would be the blind checks which are un announced audits. Open checks you are informing management of the audit and they are aware so doubtful they would cheat.

Is anyone in here still with VeriTes in the TX area? If so, have you heard from your scheduler recently?
Yes, heard from my scheduler for an open check maybe about two weeks ago. Seems that Movie Measure will be the only firm doing trailer checks.
@Arch Stanton are you in TX? It's TX I'm inquiring about. I know it was Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent for the latest assignment, I'm just trying to find out who has TX right now. There is someone who is a contractor and they have lost touch with their scheduler, they are in TX.
@Arch Stanton I thought you were. I'm FL we've both heard from our schedulers but the person in TX has tried reaching out to their scheduler and they haven't heard anything since October last year. Still slim pickings and nothing in my area but maybe it will open up to be a longer list next assignment, I was hoping Dr Strange would be an assignment.
Yeah I heard from my scheduler from Verities a couple weeks ago for some opens. And I was just about to do them. But every single email she sent me she sent included a threat to deactivate me, so I refused.

@Morledzep what??? That is crazy! They need checkers. Why would he/she do that? What area are you in? May I ask? The assignments they get are too far and few in between, and also the list has been very limited to what my scheduler sends. My scheduler sends her a list of locations across all the states she covers, and it's a first come first serve with her.

I don't know I have only ever canceled a shop for her one time and it was because I had covid. And she knew it. I told her, when I requested the opens job, that my son just got a new job and we were still working out schedules. But I never said or indicated in any fashion that I would flake on her.

I may have walked away from Verites permanently because of it, i guess its all up to her now.
@Morledzep If you choose to walk away, I can't blame you, as you have seen recently you probably won't be missing out on much. It just really depends on you and how much you like doing this type of work. You can't help having COVID, and they can't ask you to work under those circumstances. That is uncalled for. I don't know how long you have been with them, I had only found them in 2019, but I have gone through 2 schedulers since, my original one retired before the shutdown, and the new one, I adore her, she has gone above and beyond for me, getting me settled into the new way of how she assigned things. She answers my many emails and has even reached out over the phone to get to know me before my first assignment with her.

The one you have is not professional. I have had to cancel with the other company I do checks with a couple of times because I was sick and they were ok, and still have me listed as a top-tier checker, never took away any locations on me, and always give me advanced notice of upcoming work. I canceled the day of, because I got sick and started a fever, and all I had to do was call and say sorry I'm sick I can't complete the checks, and I get we hope you feel better soon and you are fine, and not in any trouble. No worries.

All of us have things come up that we can't predict or foresee, as long as we call and tell any MS company that we work for that we have to cancel, they should be forgiving. That's messed up.

Cyber, That sounds very familiar, sounds like the relationship that we had for we had prior to the pandemic. We wrote emails we texted and we talked on the phone occasionally. And I thought that we were becoming friends. With this last round of emails, With her threatening to deactivate me in every single email if I don't follow through, I just dont know anymore.

I found Verites several years ago, right after i moved to AL. After a theater owner lied to CFA about me and got me deactivated. I think it was about 6 or 7 years ago. That theater is a pile of rubble now, I dont know if it got tornadoed or if the building is being rased to build somthing else there. Either way, it makes me happy that they are gone.

@Morledzep that is horrible about what happened with CFA. They were the theatre company that got me started. I have been with them 10 years and gained all my experience through them before moving on to VeriTes and the other company I'm currently with.

I've been with one of the locations I currently do my checks out of for those ten years straight now too, with all 3 companies and I don't think CFA would have believed the manager if they tried making up something about me. I had a scheduler at CFA that called me constantly for the blind checks, he called so many times I knew who he was but he would still always introduce himself and that would crack me up. Both companies struggled, CFA and VeriTes right before and long after the shutdown.

You still should not be receiving threats from VeriTes though, have you reached out to corporate? I have had a situation once where a manager lost it with a VeriTes assignment, the audience flow assignments way back where we counted people by the minute, and I had to explain it to the person above my scheduler, they were really understanding and still paid me. The manager went off of me and threatened to call her district manager, made a whole scene over it, and made me sit out front in lobby before denying me. The corporate person was Lisa, or something along that line that I spoke to. It started with an L. I would speak to someone above the schedulers level since her behavior is unreasonable.
Cyber, yea, I started with CFA a long time ago. Never had a problem with theaters or theater owners in CA. All of this suspicion stuff, people thinking that I'm stealing from them, that all started since I moved to Alabama.

Knowing what I know now, My guess is that the theaters were already complaining about me to CFA before i ever went to that awful little theater. But no one told me so I thought I still had a good reputation with CFA.

Because of the accusations, I was made aware of from my scheduler at Verites (CFA never told me that there was a problem, or really communicated in any meaningful fashion.), I don't purchase anything at any theater anymore for any reason, And I don't stay inside the theater in between show times. I give them absolutely no reason whatsoever to accuse me of doing anything other than what I am there to do. I'm sure most of these issues have something to do with the state I live in, and the fact that I don't speak or look like them.
@Morledzep that is appalling. I'm from TN but moved to FL as a teenager, lived here the majority of my life.

That manager that had a hissy fit about VeriTes audience flow assignment, she did call her district manager and was hysterical about the whole thing. Not only did she embarrass me for the first time in my life by being so loud and overly dramatic about nothing, but she explained it in a way that nearly got me banned from doing trailer checks at my regular location where I had worked for years before. It was the same chain just in a different city.

There was some weird "rule" in their handbook that no one was allowed to count patrons. Well guess what we had blind checking assignments with CFA and I returned to the same chain and counted people right under their noses, since it was a covert audit they were not supposed to know I was doing it, and they never caught on.

I had to explain to them the big difference between trailers and almost beg, so I didn't lose the location. Because at that time Movie Measure and VeriTes were both doing trailers, and I was able to bring in the money from doing both.

Regardless you shouldn't be treated or made to feel like you are a suspect when you go to check trailers or any other movie assignment, I hope if you go to see movies on your own time you are not treated that way either.

VeriTes can't stand to lose any checkers now, they need to keep the loyal ones they have, no one new is going to sign on when the work is so sporadic.

At the end of the day, everyone deserves respect, and if you gave your scheduler the respect she needed and canceled for good reason and explained the reason, and if she can't give the same respect back, then I guess she will be surprised when one day comes and she needs you and maybe you won't be there.
