The checking account I use for MS (including direct deposits and Zelle payments from various MSCs) was just converted this month into a new type of checking account because my bank decided to stop offering the old type. To avoid monthly fees, I now have to keep a minimum daily balance of $1,500 or have at least $500/month in direct deposits. Paypal transfers do not count.

As long as Mintel pays as scheduled, I can easily satisfy the $500/month DD requirement. Since this is at least the third time in the last 12 months that Mintel did not pay me as scheduled, and since DDs from my other MSCs do not always amount to $500, I will probably have to keep $1,500 in this account at all times to avoid having to pay monthly fees.

I hate tying up $1,500, especially when I already have thousands of dollars tied up in accounts at other banks and credit unions for various MS projects.

My Mintel shops are now showing as processed but I am still waiting for the DD.

This is what happened to one of my accounts once. It had been called the, "Fee-free for life checking."

My banking relationship was with Washington Mutual originally. The deal I had was: open a business account, get premier personal checking for free, and a safe deposit box for free. Chase bought WaMu and I've had the same deal for years. The only thing I had to do to waive the monthly fee for the business account was to have 5 debit card POS transactions per month.

Then, Chase got rid of the type of business account I had and I ended up having to keep a $2,000 minimum daily balance there. To keep my free personal accounts and free safe deposit box, I have been doing that.

Then, Chase got rid of the free premier personal checking accounts. The easiest way for me to waive the monthly fee is to have at least $500 in direct deposits. If I can't rely on Mintel to pay as scheduled, I will have to tie up another $1,500. I am reluctant to close this account because I have been using it for MS for over 10 years.

Mintel is a great company and it used to pay like clockwork. I hate not being able to rely on timely payment.

There are many banks with free, no minimum deposit, personal checking accounts. Not to mention credit unions. The only bank with free, no minimum business accounts I know of is US Bank.

I have never known Mintel to miss a payment. Sounds like a fluke. Check with them.

Thanks. I have some free accounts (including one at US Bank). I am just reluctant to close my Chase accounts. I have been with Chase for over a decade. Changing all the online bill pay, direct deposit, etc. would be a big pain. So would saving years of bank records.

As for Mintel missing payments, this was at least the third time in the past 12 months. I check with them every time it happens. I never worry about Mintel not paying me. They always pay. Most of the time, they pay as scheduled. The problem is these "flukes" ARE happening and so I can't always rely on them paying me on time. When their direct deposit is just a few days late (e.g. 3 days late this time), it may mean I don't have at least $500 in direct deposits in a month to waive my monthly fee.

I believe Mintel is an Ipsos company. I have been paid within days of completing shops. They are very reliable, so check with them in case there is a bug somewhere in their system.

Nope. Mintel is a privately owned company based in London, UK.

IPSOS is a a publicly traded company based in Paris, FR.

There is no relation between them. They are competitors.

Mintel is most definitely not a Ipsos Company.

And what BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz is not saying is the payment issues lately have mostly been do to a certain Scheduler not doing their job properly. Not sure what happened this time around, but in the past this scheduler has been late approving payments, etc. Its not Mintel its this scheduler that seems to be the problem. I know Mintel will pay once payments are approved. This particular scheduler has done the same thing to me more than once, and it always seems to be on the payments that require a large reimbursement that the approval comes late for payment.

I always email Mintel when this happens, and have only had payments hit my bank 2 days late once, usually I have to wait at minimum 15 days, but could be 30 days, when the scheduler neglects to do their job. It is very frustrating.

I sympathize with BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz. Especially since BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz is counting on these payments to keep their banking fees to a minimum. I am sorry BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz. Mintel was always reliable and paid like clockwork before the last few years when this scheduler took over that particular project.

Mintel is not an Ipsos company. In my opinion, Mintel is a much better company than Ipsos.

I contact my current scheduler every time I am not paid as scheduled, sometimes cc'g my old scheduler. Mintel is mostly reliable but, as I previously stated, they are not always reliable. I hate it when I have to waste time and energy going after late payments. I hate it even more when my scheduler does not respond promptly.

It seems as if only some projects paid on the 15th. Another run was made on the 17th, and I received payment for projects I submitted on the 16th.

Maritz, BTW, still exists. It is a major player in its core businesses. It only sold its MS division, a small part of its business to IPSOS.

A little off topic, but does anyone else have problems logging into Mintel?

It seems every time I try to log in it tells me my password is incorrect. It won't allow me to reset the password via the link.

Once I e-mail someone who sent me a project, miraculously I'm able to log in with my same old password.

It's as if they deactivate my account until I complain and then reactivate me. I've got the ongoing baby mail project so I just don't understand this.

I don't have your problem but, for at least a couple of years now, I get error messages saying I have to log in via the login page.

Have you tried using a different browser or clearing your cookies/cache?

I logged into Mintel several times today. No issues.

I don't have a login issue. However everytime I logout I get an error message. So now I just leave the tab open until it automatically logs me out. Or until I close the tab out manually.

They have had issues lately with their webpage so your issue may be left over from that, but I'd try what BusyBeeBuzzBuzzBuzz suggested and see if that fixes it.
