Sinclair New Payment Options

Anyone else not thrilled with Sinclair's new payment options? I have tried to deposit self printed checks using mobile deposit and it usually does not work. The fee for using Paypal or direct deposit is a bit much so I will try the self printed checks.

When I've had problems using mobile deposit, it says they can't read the account number and routing number (which are the numbers along the bottom of the check) or something else isn't clear.

In the old days the numbers were printed with magnetic ink so they could be read with machines. Now they use OCR (optical character recognition).
I tried to deposit using mobile deposit and the bank declined it. So a trip to the bank is necessary. I am sure glad Sinclair is saving money by making me spend money.
I did not even try to mobile deposit it, went to the credit union and deposited it. No problems.
I am trying it for the first time with my credit union mobile deposit today....still pending further review.

"Not thrilled" is putting it way too politely. I'd call my reaction more like low-burning anger. Here are our options:

- Instant Funds (whatever that is) - $4.99 or 2.99% fee, whichever is greater

- Direct Deposit (which most companies want us to do AND it's almost always free!) - $4.99 or 2.99% fee, whichever is greater

- Paypal - $4.99 or 2.99% fee, whichever is greater

or

- a print-it-yourself "check" that most likely will get rejected, and requires me to use my paper and toner, for free

My "check" is for $13.00. And any option other than the print-your-own would cost me $5 of that $13.

Screw you, Sinclair.
Yeah, I’m definitely not thrilled about this new payment method. I now have to go out of my way to the credit union and they are probably going to look at me like I’m crazy when I try to deposit this check (they’ve done so before with similar style checks).
I completed a single shop for Sinclair 12 yrs. ago. My log entry states the work:pay ratio was unacceptable and both the website and report were extra non-intuitive. Fast forward 11 yrs. to 2021, when they were obviously desperate and raised a $7 shop to $18 + $5, only an exterior shot AND I was driving by the store to return home. Plus, both the report and site had been altered by someone understanding the acronym KISS. The pay has now reverted and six pics with four interiors, are required. I am willing to jump through hoops, but definitely not for a bottom payer like Sinclair.
I emailed the accounting department and requested to continue to receive paper checks since I do not own a printer. (It mentioned doing that in the notice).
There is information in their email that explains how to mobile deposit without printing a check. A little awkward but it took less than four minutes. Printer ink used- none. Gasoline-none. Drive time-none.
Oh, W????W this is news to me. Haven't done a Sinclair shop in years. This surely means I will not be doing any shops for them. It's enough they are using checks, but the audacity to make the contractor print it themselves. Just prove they are too cheap for me to contract with.

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.
I was able to do a mobile deposit on my printed copy with no issues. I used to use their checks for shops with a bank at another company but no longer bank there since I moved out of the area. I'll have to see if I can do a mobile deposit without printing. Unfortunately my credit union is slightly behind the times lol
After, I guess I have six years with Sinclair, I am done with them. I am not paying to get my money from them. I am not opening a checking account, I am not paying for checks, I am not paying fees, I am not printing out my check because I don't have security paper or security ink. I told the check service to return my money to Sinclair. I told Sinclair to issue me a paper check. I am now going to the Better Business Bureau in their area to file a formal complaint against the company concerning their neglect in paying their shoppers. I am done with Sinclair. In fifteen years of mystery shopping, this is the poorest payment system possible for the shopper. I've seen a lot of stuff in fifteen years... but this tops it all. I want my money and I am done. I don't recommend anyone shop for them.

Without security paper and security ink, it will be held for days. complaints can be filed with the Texas Workforce Commission. [www.twc.texas.gov]
