Cancelling Market Force phone shops

I foolishly signed up for some Market Force phone shops to day care centers. I just read the directions and what is required to be asked is off the wall. Problem is most day cares around here have wait lists and no openings- and to ask cost now, cost in 6 months, reg. fees, activity fees, hours of operation, extra programs such as language or art, per minute charges for late pick up for $3.00 seems insane to me. If I do not get the answers on the first day I need to call 2 more days to try and get someone to reveal all of this. I am fearful that if I cancel- yes stupid me signed up for several of them that I will be deactivated as a shopper. I am a senior with a young voice but on other phone shops to banks I am often offered senior checking accounts- s\o not sure if I sound that young. Any advice on what to do? I am dreading these! Did some in the past but these have a whole list of additional questions as to fees now, fees in 6 months, hours, etc. which I doubt I can get the answer to. Thanks for any advice.

Sue - If you don't want to cancel, then adjust the facts to meet the situation. Don't pretend it is for your own kids, tell them that your daughter delegated the inquiry process to you because she is stuck going back to the office. Then you apologize over and over again because you are just trying to do what your daughter asked. You can even explain that you don't know how you managed to raise a Type A personality daughter.

The phone shops are available, they are pretty new. You can find them by filtering or sorting them by shop type. Its not really the same as Sassie
Honestly for $3.00- some were listed as hot shop up to $6.00 you do not want to be bothered. The list of questions is absurd- if you are refused the info on the first call you need to call back 2 more days to ask the same questions. Really idiotic!
I agree that it isn't worth just $3. I would probably complete the ones that I signed up for (unless I learned after the first 2 that it was nigh unto impossible) and then never do another one again.

How much history do you have with the company and would you lose a steady stream of income if you were deactivated as a shopper? I will not shop anything for $3 - MSC’s offering these rates are completely unrealistic in my opinion (and their emails go straight to the trash folder). I have avoided phone shops altogether because even the ones that pay $15 appear to require too much time for the compensation offered.
I think I would email the help desk first and explain the situation if I were in your shoes (include the fact that you are not comfortable and that you might easily be identified) instead of just canceling the shops. If the person receiving your email is helpful, maybe they can cancel the shops for you with less penalty than if you just drop a ton of shops via the website. If not, maybe they could provide an alternate solution that would help make the shops easier for you. If this isn’t the case, I would complete the shops since the commitment has been made, reminding myself the entire time that I would never accept a shop like this again tongue sticking out smiley Good luck!
Sue,
I see that you are new here. If that means that you are also very new to Mystery Shopping, it may be that you do not know that there are nearly 200 legitimate MS companies (MSCs) and most of them pay better than Marketforce. If MF canceled your membership, you would probably replace that income quite quickly with other MS sources. Soooo, I suggest that you start by following Patman's advice and if you must go through with the shops, decide that you will sign up with 20 more MSCs to have more and better opportunities in the future.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I've done these for them in the past. They're super easy. You're just trying to get information on the cost of tuition and what they have available. They're happy to answer most of the time because they want people to come in and tour and get on their wait list. I don't think I'm on the phone more than 5 minutes each.

I picked up a bunch of them for next week for 10 bucks a piece.

Since it doesn't sound like there was any fraud or bait-and-switch, do the shops. Just don't sign up for multiple shops next time without knowing what is required.
I did a search and you can go up to 200 miles from your home location.

I wish it was like Sassie and you can go up to 999 miles

Just pick a zip code 400 miles from you and do a search on that zip code, that should get you out to 600 miles from home.
I would not do the shop for $3. You are collecting data on more than one child. You are collecting a lot of data.

Agreed, which is why I waited for them to be over $10 a piece before taking a whole bunch
I've conducted these shops in the past. The worse part is having to call the next day and the next day after that if they don't answer the phone. No calling multiple times in the same day.

As far as the pay, I've not seen any jobs that should be done for $3. I would definitely wait until the pay raises to $10.
