Mintel doesn’t pay

Mintel shops that I have done through ISS.. has owed me $20 since March. I finally got them to put in $80 out of the $100 that they owed me. It took so long to get the payment that I did more shops and they owe me an additional $80. They keep telling me to check me Venmo when I don’t have a Venmo and blaming it on ISS saying it is unpaid but it says paid on it. They corrected it finally and discovered what I told them that the L on my name is not an i . Now I am trying to go over this with them again and they still want to make an issue. If a company can’t pay then they shouldn’t be in business. I highly recommend NOT doing any shops for this company because they DO NOT PAY and want to make it seem like it’s my fault. They wait 4 months to pay out so then you forget about the shops that you did. But I keep check of every one that I do. So make sure if your using MINTEL to check after four months to see if your actually paid!

Over many years, I have never experience anything but on-time payments from Mintel.

I shop for Mintel constantly and never have a problem getting paid. The assignments I do are through their website, not ISS.

The shops I did were banks and they were on ISS but this is the company that the shops were from. I have never had any other payment issues from ISS or any other company but one. When I contacted that company, it was corrected. Not multiple emails about the same thing and still shorting me. Then doing it again.
I have never had a payment issue with them; been shopping and auditing for them over 10 years. They have a phone number listed. You can actually speak with someone who can help.
I see that you are new here. Welcome. The only problem I have with Mintel is that I wish they had more shops in my area. They are one of the fastest, most dependable MSCs I have ever worked for on the pay. Their schedulers are prompt, professional and courteous in their interactions with shoppers. To top it off, unlike some of the companies that are continuously cutting the amount they pay on any given shop, Mintel actually pays a fair and reasonable amount for what they are asking on any given shop. I am sorry you had a bad experience with them, but this is nothing at all like the experience I have had with this company. As a rule though, if I am having a problem with any company at all paying me, which is actually very seldom, there is not a chance in Hades I would do more work for them until the problem was resolved on the outstanding balance. As others have suggested, I would also suggest calling and talking to somebody in their office. This is not characteristic of the way they do business.

I agree with the entire post of GinnyLynn. My last shop for Mintel paid me $180 for two hours of computer work.
I've done work for Mintel for YEARS! Never have I used the ISS platform and never have I been paid via Venmo.
This company is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Paid on time, fair amount (better than fair most of the time!) Please double check to make sure you are really completing a shop for them and then give them a call. They have actual people that will answer the phone and help you!
Mintel is one of the best companies out there. They have always paid me and sometimes even when I think they shouldn't have.

I have shopped for Mintel for more than 15 years. I did not know Mintel offered shops on ISS and never heard of them paying via Venmo. Unlike most of the other posters in this thread, I have had some payment issues but they were all associated with a single scheduler and one project. I know other shoppers have experienced payment issues with the same scheduler and project.

In spite of the aforementioned problems, I like Mintel and wish more MSCs were like Mintel.
Mintel began using ISS for some shops in January 2020.

As far as I know, every payment made to me for shops done on ISS, regardless of the MSC, has been made by PayPal, but I just looked and Venmo is also an option for ISS (you have to select one or the other).

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
Thanks for the information.

I’m not stupid. They didn’t pay me. They didn’t correct it fully last time after I sent them about 20 emails about it. They shorted me $20. Now they are still telling me the same thing as last time when they knew they had corrected the issue after my email. That’s great that none of you have had issues with them but I am. I have seen stuff on here that others have had issues with, that I haven’t had an issue with. They are using an i instead of an L in my name and telling me that the problem is on my end. Even when this was corrected the first time, shouldn’t it of been fixed by the second time? Also they should have paid me the right amount the first time and not shorted me money, then ignored me.
Thanks. Do you have a contact number to call?

PayPal acquired Venmo in 2012 and the distance between the two operations has recently been closing.
I am not disputing that the op has had problems getting payment. I am like most other posters here and have nothing but praise for Mintel. Solid MSC where every shop ever done has been fair to great value in pay. They have excellent communication and have always paid me on time like clockwork. I have only shopped for them on their proprietary site and not thru ISS.
My questions and suggestions for the regular poster
Did you check both your profile on Mintel's proprietary website and ISS to verify your name was correct as Lauren not Iauren and that the PayPal or Venmo address was correct?
If you had payment problems and got it only partially and not fully resolved, why would you do more work for them.
I suggest for you and everyone else to never continue to do work for an MSC that you are not currently up to date on payment per the MSC payment terms. If you loaned someone money and they agreed to pay you in 60 days, and you have not been paid 180 days later and they ask you to loan them more money only a fool does that. If they paid you late at 170 days and 10 days later ask for another loan, I doubt most people would loan them money again barring extenuating understandable reasons, they were so late paying the first loan. I know for one ShopperBob does not give 2nd chances and for the most part I don't either. Like I said there are few exceptions. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me a 3rd time not going to happen.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Buffalo inquires--If you had payment problems and got it only partially and not fully resolved, why would you do more work for them.

Bob requests--If you ever learn the answer PLEASE let me know; I have wondered this for many yrs. If a shopper were flush with money, they would not have any need to continue, but if they were broke, they could not afford such an action. I only recall a single MSC admitting money was tight. All of the other situations of which I am aware, failed to communicate and/or lied. That lone company sent an explanation they had been "stiffed" by a large client and were late with payment; to my knowledge, all were paid. Had they any work in my area, I had completed shops in the past, they would have been my only shopping exception to second chances.
I continue to work for Mintel because it pays me promptly and in full MOST OF THE TIME and all my payment issues have to do with only ONE scheduler and ONE project. It is frustrating as heck when things go south but the project is profitable and easy most of the time. I have no worries about the integrity or financial health of the company. The company also offers other appealing projects.

I love working for Mintel. They normally pay right on time. A few times, such as this month, the female managing the Post Office shops didn't get around to sending in the payment invoices. She did send an email saying she was sorry but the fact is we will not get paid until the end of the month now. Many of us depend on these payments being made on time. This is not the first time this has happened and it is very frustrating. This isn't the only problem she does not answer emails and when she asks you to do something and you agree you don't hear from her again. She is very frustrating to work with.

Exactly.

It is not only some of us shoppers she is hurting. She is also hurting Mintel. By dragging her feet repeatedly and for outrageous lengths of time, Mintel is paying for new PO boxes 6 months at a time but only getting 4 or 5 months of data.
ISS for their work sucks, would much rather work off their website. Especially that big American bank…
I was one of the shoppers who was not paid in the middle of the month because she did not approve my invoices. She approved those invoices only after I emailed her and told me I had to wait until the end of the month. The end-of-the-month payday is Monday. She has not approved any of my invoices submitted after she approved the aforementioned invoices.

Does anyone else have unapproved invoices?
I have had my invoices approved and they will be paid shortly, sure they will. This is very frustrating. Her inefficiency is frustrating. She said she was on a week's PTO and that's swell for her BUT she should have made arrangements for someone else to do her job. It is beyond me why she is still employed. Maybe she doesn't depend on her Mintel payment but many people do. We can't tell our insurance company we can't pay them because a Mintel employee didn't do her job!
Yes that exactly what they have been doing to me. Then they answer back out of no where and send it to your junk mail from a separate email address that I was never communicating with. I just signed up for just one of their shops now on ISS and completed it yesterday 10/29 so let’s see how long this takes and if I get paid for this. Now I have that date marked right here too. Maybe they can pay it all together. It was very convenient for me to do anyway. I just don’t understand how I know someone else who completed the same type of shops in the same time frame as me (actually a little after me) and this person was paid on time and correctly.

I told them multiple times that it’s An L and it an i .. they kept telling me that this is not the issue and it’s on my end. But then finally I did receive the first payment but missing $20 out of it, I remember I got it at like 11:30am right after I emailed them, told them to correct this, and then I was told that’s not the issue but after I said it then I got paid some of what I was owed! Why did they not fix this in their system? I mean I have a pretty common name and anyone with a brain should not think that it is an i .

I don't doubt that this is happening to you, but why would you continue to complete shops for a company that won't pay you?

A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men.
I am just trying out one that I was already at the location of anyways. My friend was paid properly so I don’t understand. It’s been over 6 months now since I have done one and now I’m seeing that other people are having issues too and I’m not going to get any more of them. Plus it’s the end of the month and there has not been too many in my area lately that I have been really busy with completing them like I usually am so it didn’t cost me any extra gas or anything but the time of filling out my report and talking to an extra person at the location I was already at.
I once, not long ago, send in an invoice for 200.00 instead of 20.00. It was an honest mistake and when they paid me I felt guilty so I wrote and asked how to get it back to them. Never got an answer. They obviously have no checks and balances. Someone should have caught this. Perhaps this is 'her' job as well which explains everything.
If they paid your invoice via paypal you can click a link in the notification page to send back any excess. If paypal deducts a fee for the refund, like they will receive $175 instead of $180, thats on them.
