I did the same thing once before...very frustrating.

I ended up picking the same shop up and doing it again. I figured two free meals was better than spending 16 dollars of my own cash to buy a meal.

Sooner or later, we all miss a detail. I caught a couple just about the time I cranked my car to leave a location, and I headed right back in to correct the error. Times when I don't catch it in time, I do contact the scheduler. Sometimes the shop is at least a partial save, other times not, which is why the high end shops with mega cash up front make me nervous. I take notes on my cell phone and a note pad both. Although I mostly get those 10s, sometimes I still miss a detail. We are all human and subject to an occasional error. I know it stings, but we just shake it off and keep going. It happens sometimes in this business.

Do you really think MSC reshops on something like this or just submits the report without the bathroom info? I tend to think MSC will still use and just hose the shopper on something like this. I remember another MSC would deduct a portion of the pay for things missed. I know for another MSC, i have forgotten the bathroom on a drive-thru shop and explained it. They made an exception and submitted it. I know MF is too big to care and prob would not make exceptions like this.

Agreed! If they can get somebody to reshop it they will versus using the report that is missing a key part of the shop. The client will generally question the entire shop at that point so they don't use them when things like this happen.

High incentive to do so. Alas, I thought maybe they'd be fine since they ask why you didn't? Maybe the space (and only acceptable reply) is for something like "It was out of order."

I agree if it's a "KEY PART". I don't think the bathroom is a KEY PART of an online shop. Maybe they feel it is, but they could also allow an exception for something minimal like this. The MSC could easily take into account the history with the particular shopper, the quality of reports and how many issues they have had with a shopper to decide whether or not to grant an exception.

MF is a behemoth and does not want to spend the time working with the shoppers, so they would rather just not pay and move on. Now, what they do with the report is another question.

I don't get why some drive thru shops have a bathroom pic requirement. If you are using the drive thru to order food, what are the chances that you are going to use their bathroom?

I saw one drive thru shop with required pics of the dining room and bathroom. Why?

Many shops have nonsensical requirements. It's just part of the job. They pay for the data, so they ask what they feel is important (to them).

I remember back in the day when golden arches was shopped and they wanted you to do both the inside and drive-thru instead of just separating the experiences into 2 different shops. Some locations were fine because they were so busy or the location was large enough you wouldn't be noticed. However, I did some smaller/slower locations where you would get looks of WTF and they had to know you were the shopper.

I also remember when the clown burger place that stopped shopping a few months back (tacos required/shakes optional) made you order burgers for bfast instead of letting you order bfast food like a typical bfast customer (they eventually changed). But I also remember when they wanted a picture of the pickup window and employees would see you taking picture of them, They finally stopped this lame picture requirement.

@hbbigdaddy I totally get the client is the client and you have to go with their wishes. I wonder if their are occasions where it is the MSC asking for the bizarre -- like take a pic of the dining room and bathroom on your drive thru shop and not the client. Is it part of some long game by the MSC where they pay X and expect you to do a, b, and c so we are accustomed to doing a certain amount of work for the fee.

This job I am referring to has a reimbursement that covers the meal and a measly fee that doesn't make it a great value proposition (for me). You are getting free food though.

I know what you mean by smaller/slower places. I got that WTF look last week when I went in the drive thru line to take a pic during a slow time. When I got to the window I told them I will just go inside. Did my inside pic. I ordered some non-reimbursed fries, so it wouldn't look so obvious.

@heywave...I think I might do it in reverse order. Go inside first and do that requirement. I would probably wait 5 minutes before coming thru the drive-thru. Hopefully you get a diff employee doing the DT than was at the counter that saw you come in. If It was a slower location, I would probably where a jacket and hat going inside and then remove it when going back to the car.

An MSC once asked me how I could report a bathroom was dirty when the client's video showed I did not actually enter the bathroom. I told them to review the video again. A customer was getting out of the bathroom and the door was therefore open. I was standing right outside where I could see most of the bathroom. It was a dirty mess.

The client and the MSC reviewed the video again. My report was accepted and I was paid.

I have previously "evaluated" from a distance. When it's so apparently nasty to most senses -including the visual 75% you can see through an open door, I'M NOT GOING IN.

I was glad that shop did not have a checklist of things in the bathroom I had to check. If it had required me to report whether the toilet was clean or whether there was an up-to-date maintenance log, then I would have had to actually go in. I am literally gagging right now remember that bathroom floor.

Yikes. As a disabled person, I often find it easier to PULL a cart than to PUSH it. I truly would resent being marked down or not paid because of that (unless of course the guidelines specified such).

I prefer being in front as it's easier to keep my space. (Always liked my space, not due to Covid)

The guidelines didn't specify, but the cashier claimed she didn't know it was my cart and didn't notice the TP under the cart. I was just warned and told to push my cart next time. I think I was paid. Long time ago.

If it was one of those shops where You're supposed to see if they notice the item underneath the cart. I could see being in front of it blocking the cart and not giving the cashier a chance could be an issue. But for a regular grocery store shop, I don't know what the difference would be.

As for bathrooms this is probably the only part of many of the service oriented questions they ask on food shops I am interested in personally. If I go to a restaurant I do not really care if they greet me with certain phrases, if the food takes one minute instead of 90 seconds to come out, if they try to upsell me etc . However, if the bathroom is clean and mostly neat, that is important to me so I suppose it is also important to the company you are doing the msc for. I would think they want to take advantage of any shopper even if the scenario does not see to be one that would include a stop in the bathroom by taking a look at the bathroom situation while the shopper is getting paid to be there. Also there are those who do a purchase of some sort at a fast food restaurant solely because they need to use the bathroom. So it does not seem strange that they want all shoppers to rate the bathroom experience for them.

I don't think it's all that unusual to use the bathroom while picking up food either in the DT or to go at the counter. Hubby and I have stopped at FF places many times on trips, just specifically so he can use the restroom! Sometimes we get food to go or at the DT while we are there, but not always. I'm sure the workers are not paying any attention to this.
