Ardent

After the company lost their big clients a couple of years ago I thought they had gone out of business, but I received an email today that they're recruiting for a new client in my area. The program will start in the spring. It sounds like the premise is similar-a small group of trained shoppers who will do multiple shops each round.

The message listed the city/zip codes for the locations. I did some Google searching and think I may have figured out who the client is. If so, I'm excited!

Are you sure the email came from them and not a scammer posing as them?
There is a legitimate "Ardent Retail Services, Inc" which is affiliated with Alta and does merchandising. Straight to the trash as it is not MS.

This is a website for an "Ardent Services, LLC" which lists some of the past clients of the now defunct "Ardent Services, Inc." It looks like a fraudster. The "About Us," "Contact Us," and "Services" pages are "under construction."

I skimmed the email. Any idea what industry the client is in?

Fast casual dining. Right up their alley.

Honny, where in the country do you live? Based on my research I had the new client pegged for a regional, not national, company.

All I see are merchandising assignments at the big Bullseye store and a warehouse club.
I heard back from the scheduler. I was correct about the client, a regional chain.

I'm in the DC metro side of Maryland.

Who sent the email and did it come from an ardentservices.com email address?
@KathyG:

Can you share what region of the country?
Deanna, and yes.

I believe there are locations in Missouri, Kansas and Illinois.

I enjoyed working for them in the past. I am not in the region for these shops but good to hear they are back in business and maybe will get a new national client some day. I still have the app on my phone for the last one so I am ready if that client comes back,.
I am register with them but I didn't receive the email
I absolutely loved working with Ardent when they were around. Even though they only had one client, any time I needed my burrito fix I would just log in as there was ton of assignments since I lived around 4-5 stores. I refuse to go to the smoked jalapeno place now as their prices are way to high for what you receive. I think the burritos are something like $12-13. Some how the food always taste better when it's free..lol !!
I find it strange that somebody is registered with Ardent but not working for them. When I was working for Ardent you either worked every month or you were deactivated. And you didn't get to just randomly register with Ardent back then, you had to be invited and you had to go to training.
I had done shops for both of the big clients they lost. You're correct that each month I was assigned locations to go to and scenarios to complete. However, since that last big client went away the MSC seemed to have gone dark.

There is only one store in my area.

I was invited to the training but at the time of the training I was working and I could not get out of working sad smiley

I wanted to go it so bad...

The original went out of business. I seem to recall hearing about issues in the ownership group as they lost their big client.

They went out of business. Which is why I question all this Ardent stuff. Especially the part about being registered and not actually doing any jobs for them because that's not how they worked.
I don't know the complete company history. They either suspended services or died and rose from the ashes. If you do a Google search for Ardent Mystery Shopping the second hit (on my computer) is for Ardent Services, "a boutique market research company specializing in evaluations".

I am so bummed they went out of business I've worked with 3 of their clients and they were all amazing!!! Glad to hear they are back up and running! I did see the email from Alta / Ardent but mine was all merchandising as well.

I got that email also, and have since deleted it. However, am I remembering correctly that the merch jobs offered by Ardent are on a W2 basis, and not as an Independent Contractor? If they are W-2, some may be interested in that, but I prefer staying as an IC.
It is certainly possible for any company to change the way they do business. Ardent in the past had a certain business model but a new client might want something else. If you are in business you need to be flexible. As for the "old" Ardent, they disappeared at the beginning of the pandemic and I had heard that the owner had taken a job elsewhere. But again this does not mean that the owner will never come back or sell the business to someone else. I have no idea if this is the same Ardent but it certainly can be. And if it is them I liked their style and would be happy to work for them again if any of their jobs come my way even if they are not by invitation only in the future.
The merchandising Ardent is associated with Alta and NOT related to the mystery shopping Ardent that had the big burrito chain. They simply have the same word in their names.
I emailed her to confirm. If you click on the author's name you can see how long they have been a member and read older posts. That is helpful for me to make sure that I am working with somebody reputable.
I am in Pennsylvania and I haven't received an email. I shopped with Ardent consistently with both of their clients, several shops every month. I assume the client is not in my area, but I hope they do come back. They paid well and fully reimbursed the required meals.
the same with me.
