New Customer Impact Repair/Return Shops at Big Box Home Store

Has anyone done one of these? For four pallets of items, it seems $20 won't cut it. But it depends on how many items are on each pallet. They appear to be garden hoses.

"The purpose of the visit is to repair/return any damaged items in the XXXXX at XXXX. You will need to locate the four pallets shipped to the locations, assess the displays for any damaged hoses, remove and repair those that can be fixed, return unsalvageable items to store management, count the number of pristine/repaired/returned items, and take photos."

It sounded like too much work for a small amount of pay so I declined it.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I thought about taking one, but trying to locate four pallets scared me off. And I wasn't sure how much time would then be required to inspect and fix the hoses.
FYI it's for fixing the packaging for hoses. And the whole this is on hold now, at least for my area.
I would consider asking for a copy of the work order before you accept it, that might give you a better idea of what is involved.

I know there are the guidelines in the mass email that they send out.

But there was one time I asked the scheduler for the guidelines that are attached to the report. (Sometimes they have more information). They never replied back.

Then there was another shop, that I wanted to do and I asked for the guidelines and they were happy to send them to me .

So, I guess it depends on the MSC/scheduler if they are willing to do that.
I just laughed at it. Not worth $20. Who knows how many hoses need repair, how heavy they are, how dirty I could get doing this, how hard it is to get them out of the pallets, how long it will take to do these repairs, and so on? Not for me.

Well either someone took both of them near me or they decided to cancel the project. I went to see if they were bonused, but they're gone.
Some of the locations are on hold. I did two over the weekend and I'm putting them "on hold" for me until another project is done AND I can talk to the scheduler as 20 bucks for this is a joke.
What did this project entail for you?

Having to get someone with a forklift to pull all of the pallets down, uncover all of the pallets, pull two layers of hoses off each pallet, tape stuff up, repackage the pallets and take pictures. It was painful and very messy.
Sounds like the store would rather contract the $20 sucker than pay an employee to do this. Wow. Pretty low.
I suspect that the task is being done for and paid for by the hose manufacturer, not the Big Box Store.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008

Indeed. This is not from the store. And the packages are legit busted up and I have no idea why they were designed they way they are.
Well I see they've increased the pay to $40 with a $5 reimbursement for the roll of tape you need to buy to repair the packages.

I think I'll wait to see if they get bonused to $50 though.

weatherman2111,

Do you think $50 is a reasonable fee for the task?
