Movie Measure? Anyone do these?

It looks like I can't get any info on the jobs unless I apply. Grrr. Do you get to stay for the movie? If not, is it worth the fee?

I've never done them before, but I don't think you can stay for the movie. I read about it in another post.

I signed up for one, then found out you can't stay for the movie so I canceled.
Good to know, thank you. The pay isn't worth it if you can't stay for the movie.
Very few theater jobs let you watch the movie. If it's trailer checks, the answer is absolutely not. Even if you're doing opens, you can be in the theater for a minute after the movie starts, but you are not allowed to stay and watch.
It's another one of those jobs where I am baffled why people will take it at such a low rate. I also never see them bonused.
I'd take the lower pay if the trade off was watching the movie. I'd do them pretty often. But I'm not going through all that for $10.
@callinectes You don't get to stay and watch any movies for any company that runs any checks unless you are doing a covert check. That is where you are undercover counting people for a studio. Sometimes it is all showtimes, and sometimes it's just one showtime. Trailer checks, for any company, Movie Measure, or others, you were never allowed to stay and watch. You are paid for the amount of screens you check. So it goes above $10.00, but don't get too excited because it does not go much above that, depending on how many screens your feature is played on. It's fairly easy money, but does not pay the bills. Most people do it as a side gig, and they work with other mystery shopping companies or are signed on with multiple theater companies in order to make things more profitable.
I used to do trailer checks because I liked watching the trailers. I like being in the theater, but there is no money to be made with even the best paying companies. I used to set aside my Fridays and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving just for trailer checks because I really enjoyed doing them.

There are some drawbacks, new managers that don't know what's going on, ticket takers at the the auditorium doors that think they're more important than they are, teenagers that think you're weird because you're writing things down at a movie, and Karen's that are absolutely sure that you're doing something illegal.

One day I was doing opens, I had my counters in my pocket and I set my bag down on the seat by the door, I walked up the stairs counting the people on one side and downstairs on the other side, then I picked up my bag and I walked out of the auditorium. About 5 minutes later a manager came up to me and asked me not to carry my bag into the auditorium because somebody thought I was placing a bomb.

@Morledzep Oh my your experience has been much different than mine. I've been doing theatre work since 2013. I dropped the other half of MS a long time ago. I prefer theatre work only. I have my dedicated group of theatres I work with and they all know me, as well as half the patrons by now. So it's like walking into a bar such as Cheers. I carry a small backpack purse everywhere I go. I'm diabetic, and have to have my kit as well as snacks just in case my sugar plummets.

No one has ever thought anything of it. I've had many a open check, blind checks, Ad checks, standees, lobby checks, 3D checks and more, the only thing I almost got denied was the one that asked me to go look at the projectors..

You name it, I've done it, for this company and that company, and its a shame that some of the companies didnt survive post Covid. I prefer this work to the otherside anyday.
Cyber,

I guess I just look naturally guilty. I don't fly anymore because I always get pulled out for enhanced what do you call it inspection by the TSA. I don't know why, maybe old disabled women are known terrorists?. Even when folks can't see me they automatically assume that I am guilty, based on something that somebody else said, when no such thing ever happened.

I can give lots of examples, but this might become a book.

A very nice young man in one of the theaters that I used to do regularly, charged me employees price for something that I normally ordered. I didn't think twice about it, and I never asked for it, and I really didn't think anything of it because I was really kind of broke and shouldn't spend the money anyway. A week or two later I received an email from the scheduler, cautioning me about getting free stuff at the concession stand. I told her I never got anything free, and I really didn't know what she was talking about. So I stopped buying stuff at the concession stands (I found out from the nice young man that he had been giving me employee prices, but it was too late).

A few months later at the same chain, I got another email from her telling me that I couldn't watch the movies in between the trailer checks, I told her I don't, because I don't. So after that I didn't even stay in the theater if I had more than a few minutes between showtimes. And I always walked between the theaters on the main floor, instead of on the second floor where there are no people, to make sure the managers saw me coming and going.

@Morledzep for the TSA bit about flying it isnt just you. Last year my family and I, (my husband, and son, who looked like he was 14) took a vacation to HI. It was my sons first flight ever. He's a kid. The grownups went through the TSA check fine. I grab my stuff, and turn around wait, wheres the kid??? Hes getting the full pat down treatment on his very first TSA experience ever. They my husband I got through no problems and pull the kid out. So reall?. A kid. I was all set to go on to my gate and had to turn around and watch my child get checked for powder residue and patted down.

Thank god he was older than he looked, but still a kid nonetheless, he took it in stride, just a story to let you know they dont just single out someone like you. TSA is a joke.

For MS companies and theaters, I just got offered free concessions myself and declinded them. The company im working gor mostly at the moment none of the managers say anything to them about me, because Ive been working with both my locations for 10 plus years and have there longer than any of the managers. Im a good talker that builds a great relationship with everyone in charge.
Cybersst,

Many people were killed in Vietnam by children carrying bombs. And I believe the same is true for Iraq and Afghanistan.

So the security people were doing their jobs correctly.

So don't be offended when they're possibly keeping you from being killed.
@Morledzep Im not offended, we know what happened. I was only trying to make you feel better and not singled out. He had drawstrings with metal tips on his shorts. We understood after the fact. It was meant to make you feel as if you were not singled out and picked on. I dont like anyone to feel that way.

Cyber, I'm not Rosie.. lol.

Getting singled out one time is fine, I understand that. I used to fly regularly between California and Alabama so that I could visit my grandkids. And every time I stepped into an airport, several times a year, going both ways, no matter which airports I used, I was singled out.

I am an old, short, fat, disabled, white woman, and I was then too...

Well I just don't like when people are mistreated either way. I don't mind you're disabled, or not, or what you look like. You could be an oompa loompa, and still deserve fair treatment and that is all I was going for. I hope your grandkids come see you.
lol, cyber, they are adults now, and now that I moved to AL to be close to them, they moved to another state with their mother. We keep in touch on Faciebutts now..
@Morledzep Hey if I can get a laugh out of you then my job is done. As far as the grandkids growing up and moving away. I have 2 of my own kids and they are adults now as well. They grow up too fast and then take off on you once they are ready. I should start calling FB that....I like the new name.
