Bestmark Dining Shops

For those of you who shop for Bestmark, maybe you can help me. I went on their job board to view the details of some of their dining shops and it does not name the restaurant or the address, just a zip code. It says that the client name will be disclosed in a confirming email. Is there any way I can find out who the client is prior to signing up for the shop. I don't want to wind up at a place that I dislike. It seems awfully strange to not know what shop one is signing up for, I have never come across this, so if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

TIA

You could perhaps contact your scheduler and get the information from them. Showing the zip only is indeed a PITA, but often they will give a little information about the location (type of food and perhaps some other identifier) that can clue you in to what the location is.
Most of the time the zip code should tell you where it is located. Then hopefully you can go by the process of elimination. to find out who it is.

There are a lot of restaurants in each zip code where I live. It would be impossible to even guess.
Their ways are maddening.

Try to search for restaurants in the zip code area, using reverse lookups or Google. After you're familiar with their shop description, whether it's wings, family, fine dining, whatever, you'll be better equipped to make a decision. One of their restaurant descriptions was so vague, that I emailed the scheduler and asked for the scoop - whether the reimbursement would cover and what exactly was I shopping. By the time I received his somewhat veiled response, the shop was gone. The next month, I was only a bit clued in to the location of the top secret cloak and dagger, still-just-a-zip-code shop.

After you accept an assignment, the address is included in a confirmation email. However, still not the name. That is not revealed until a few days prior. But, reverse address lookup will give you the info.

Their system is still a PITA.
They give plenty of hints. A well known "car side" family restaurant. And I have always found they give you the name as soon as you accept it.

I have sometimes seen the name in the confirming email and sometimes not. I have certainly googled the address from the confirming email to see what we got. But by now I know who their restaurants are in my area and can tell from the hint whether it is a 'grab it' or 'don't touch it!'
Flash,

Thanks for both suggestions. I have emailed the scheduler to see if I can get more information. If not, I am not sure that I want to be a guinea pig for each dining shop just to get familiar with their different dining shops. I hardly think that is fair, especially since all the other job boards that I have gone on lists the client's name and address and it is up to you to determine whether you like their food and how much the reimbursement will cover and also whether the location is convenient. A zip code does not help that much.....

LOL! Thanks for making me smile today smiling smiley
While you may get a dance around, every email they send out with job listings has a phone number. For my area (and likely for any other area) that number is (800) 969-8477. If the shop is still on the website they may be willing to broaden the hints to find someone to take it. I would probably express an interest in making sure it was a place my companion would be 'willing to go'.
I have done the carside as well as the fine dining shops for them. The fine dining are very nice restaurants..some that I would personally never have thought or afforded to go to. They are worth the time and guessing. You will not be dissapointed by them..Go out with you and your hubby or sign. other for a great date night.
It's been my experience that the dining shops are not work the time. The expenses are more than the reimbursement. Good company, just poor reimbursements.
Depends upon the client?

They have fine and casual dining where I am. Reimbursements are adequate. Sometimes, barely adequate, other times more than.
You will need to become familiar with the zipcodes and after a couple of shops it eill fall into place. They love electronic stores and pay on time, though their forms can be a little maddening asking you to repeat information and lengthy narratives.
I always spend more than the reimbursement, but I think of it as taking a friend out to a nice lunch for $5 for the two of us, if I go $5 over.
One of their dining shops around here is for a place that is an absolute favorite of hubby and myself. The reimbursement doesn't quite cover everything, but is close enough to make it worthwhile. We still usually walk out of there for less than 10 dollars and view it as a special treat that we could not come close to making at home for that cost.

I will skip the more casual place though as their food has gotten so unappealing I don't want to eat it for free.
I LOVE the wings ones- one of my favorite date nights!

There are plenty of job related reasons I NEED to know what the name of the shop is. If I need to know, I email the scheduler and ask. I've never had anyone refuse to tell me.
Most MSC's say your not allowed to work for a client if you know someone that works there, so, how do you know this if the MSC (Bestmark) doesn't tell you where your going, just asking......

Live consciously....
What I don't like about one of them is they changed it after assignment that the lunch shops you now had to eat at the bar. I usually bring a friend or my husband and have a kid with me as well and it is illegal in CT for a child to sit at the bar so I had to cancel those shops.
yeah i always get a lil nervous on the wing shops... i have done two of them... you have to talk to a manager and give a receipt for a gift card to the waiter if all goes well... i would hate to have to give an oops card..

Thankfully I"ve never had to give an oops card. However one time when the guy won and then the manager told him I was coming out of the ladies' room on the way out, the waiter saw me, came over, PICKED ME UP AND HUGGED ME and thanked me so much as he was saving for a gift for books for school and this little bonus put him over the top for what he needed.
yeah the lady i gave it to on the last one was like "cool thank you! this is the 4th one i have recieved!" i was like dang... nice job... thats an extra pay or two..

Suzie, here you can choose bar or dining room shops. I think it is illegal anywhere for a child to be in a bar. I never do the ones required to be at the bar.

I am just filling out mine for the lunch I had today. I am so used to them by now that they do not seem so much of a pain. I bet I have done 50 to 60 of these by now.
wish i could do 50-60 of them... not a big area... and the rotation... sad... plus half the time they are dinner week day's and i work second shift...
