Presto and Ipsos a combination made in He__

Presto has fixed most of the glitches that made it difficult to check in when on site. And the GPS's have gotten more accurate too. The option to "report a problem" doesn't work anymore. For some reason, even though I have location enabled on the Presto app and my tablet GPS, I still can't check in using the tablet. I have to check in using my phone, then close Presto on the phone and take the pictures on the tablet. It's not a Presto or a service problem, it's a problem with this last replacement tablet and the folks at the phone company and at Samsung don't understand why, it always worked with the last 3 tablets just fine.

I have the opposite problem that ses has, the signal at my home is atrocious, and in most gas station locations, except for the very remote ones, there is better faster service. And even then I usually only have to drive down the street to a better populated area to find better service than what I would get if I waited until I got home. I can't get wifi or any type of broadband service here, only DSL is available for $90 per month. I use my cell phone as a hot spot for my desktop computer, it's faster than the DSL that is available and I don't have to deal with their constant outages which are sometimes daily and always at least weekly.

It worked perfectly when I did one in the morning. On a route this evening, the check-in did not work for any of the six shops, even though Presto's map showed my location to be right where it should be.

I did 10 shops in Presto on Tuesday evening. I did not have any problems with the app, including geo location.

I do some locations that are more rural and expect to have some issues with the check-in (although far less than previously). What I have found is to do the checkin to open the report, take the first picture, then go back to the check-in and it will work. My theory is that sometimes the GPS doesn't update quickly enough but taking a picture forces it to update.
Karen,
That is a really good hint, I'll have to try it. I still wish I didn't have to check in with my phone instead of my tablet, but that has nothing to do with Presto. The phone company needs to get their stuff together, either that or the rehabbers that "fix" the warranty replacement devices.
After my post last week, I went out over the weekend and *gasp* had a geolocation issue! I had done a Circle K shop, then headed down the road to do an E/M. When I got to the E/M, the geolocation had me 3 miles away, apparently still at the Circle K. The survey unlocked for me anyway, and I tried again before I left, and it still would not work. I noted it in the report and snapped an extra photo of the storefront address just in case. The report was approved without question.

My advice: Don't sweat over the geolocation not being correct. As long as you are sure you are at the right place, just note it in the report and press the button that pops up to let them there is a location issue. Before you leave, take a photo of the address and the couple of the surrounding area (e.g. nearby intersection or what is to the left and right of the shop location). Be sure to note that in the notes as well.
When the geo is wrong, and especially when it shows me at the last place I've been, I restart my phone. That usually fixes it. YMMV.
Agreed. When doing multiple locations the GPS doesn't update quickly or at all. BUT, if you close out of Presto, then open google maps app and reopen presto it's accurate. That's been my experience on Android.

I tried that tonight. Didn't work for me, and I'm using an Android.
I use Android and if the GPS doesn't verify the location at first, I'll try again before submitting or close report and reopen. 9/10 times it works and if it doesn't, I submit it anyway. Never had a problem.
