Intouch Insight - Canceled Shops - Frustrated

I'm beyond frustrated. I drove 2 hours to complete 4 shops for Intouch Insight, and they canceled as I completed the first location. I wasn't allowed to start them until 9am. They canceled at 20 past. I have a 2 hour drive home, as well as tolls and money wasted on gas. Explanation given was quota met.

In 25 years of shopping, I've never had a company cancel the day of. Does anyone know who runs Intouch Insight? I will be contacting them.

Thanks.

You will probably have to argue and escalate your complaint, but they SHOULD pay you, at least, for your travel.....
So how did you know they canceled? Did they call you, text you or just remove the assignments?

I don't know what your recourse is. But yeah, that sucks. If you were already out there...I would have been tempted to complete all 4 and show the receipts and ask how/why they could do that to you.

I had a different MSC cancel on me when I was already en-route. I did not know and did the fast food shop. They allowed it. I would think they would have to cancel ahead of time (night before) to be fair.

Guess it will depend on your history with the MSC. Also keep us posted with the outcome.

I completed my first shop for Intouch DBA a former name in 2006, with the latest being in 2023; the total rings in at 13. They are a Canadian company employing the business model of reasonably rapid pay at a low rate. That is the only reason for 13 in 19 yrs. Aside from being a bottom payer, I do not recall ever reading any negative comments.

If this were to occur to me, I would require an ante-up, unless their IC agreement permits such action. If said clause exists, I would accept responsibility and then terminate.

In each occasion when I read an injustice to a shopper, I recall the gal who had been mistreated by Ipsos. She shared she had been in tears but, due to her financial situation, she had to grin and bear it.
I'm wondering how often this happens with "route" shoppers. I would hate to think so many set out to do things far away and then have the rug pulled out from underneath.

I have not done many shops for Intouch (like Terminator Bob). My cancelled shop was with another company, but they honored it because I did them and they did not tell me until I was in the middle of them.
My argument would be that the MSC should not be assigning shops they do NOT intend to complete. They should only assign the maximum they can send to the client.

If 100% correct by the OP, it sounds like the MSC put out assignments and then all the shoppers who did them would decrease how many were left and when they hit this magical amount, they cancelled the rest. That sounds like a crappy way to set up shops and keep shoppers happy.

Another MSC (the big I) will pull shops off the board once they reach their magical number so that no one can assign more until they are ready to do more.
You can contact Cameron Watt and David Newby. Be clear in what you are asking for - mileage or shop payments? I'd suggest a set amount, tell them how you expect to be paid, and by when.

I have to say that I've been similarly burned. I had a route of gas stations in a very remote city. I did not check my shopper log before I left the house, and that is my mistake (it won't happen again), I got to the remote city, pulled into a parking spot on site, opened up my shopper log and it was gone. I emailed the scheduler and she said that it looks as if I completed it, I did not. But when I looked at my completed shops it showed there, with zeros, they just closed the shop without notifying me at all. There were two of those shops in that remote city, so I did the other one, then I sent another email to the scheduler to see if the other shop could be put back, she said no, and that she had no control over them closing the shop like that.
They offered you a contract with each assignment. You agreed. They broke said contract. Fight it!
@sestrahelena

I think the MSC has a clause to be able to back out. I don't know what the terms are. I would think they cannot cancel the day of the assignment. But if they told you at least the day before that would be fair warning.

Hoping the OP keeps us posted on the outcome. Are there any Insight employees that post on here like MFISherri does for the burger/chicken fingers client?
Agree. that is the best MSC I worked with so far. But they have three different divisions. I think the one in discusion is belong to Alta360 Research, Inc.

Pick up the phone and call Alta360. They are accessible and responsive me. You can actually talk with someone.
I’ve had 3 of 5 apartment jobs I completed (as directed) pulled by an MSP after I did the site visits and completed the reports, then tried to tell me I hadn’t.
It was for an MSP panned here (and banned from MSPA - starts with a “C”) I wasn’t paid I was also out travel and overhead.
I now research any company I plan to work with before I do, and reach out to schedulers about details and create straightforward working relationships. It’s good business, and they’re less likely to burn you.
I’ve backed away from several for lack of communication and won’t even waste a second of my life on those with reputations for using shoppers to get paid themselves, then not paying us….and editors that decline when you’ve followed the instructions exactly.
