Issues with (Required) timestamp camera app

Hi,

Any insight is appreciated.

I had to abort and reschedule a complicated tech company comparison assignment requiring the use of this app because it was not saving the required info,. We are prohibited from using any images except from this app. Even if it was working as it should, the report form won’t connect with the app to upload thier files, and there’s no instructions or support connected to the app or the report form.

Reached out to my scheduler who swears this hasn’t been an issue with anyone else.

This app is not recording times and dates but is saving locations, and the settings, functions, and inclusions are so minimal there isn’t even a link to the creators site or support. I did find one in the App Store but no reply.

I’ve also been trying to troubleshoot myself in lieu of app support. Even though I’ve added my name and assignment title to those fields and the geographic address is populating, it’s not time stamping, and none of that data has been added to the photos, so they will be disqualified, as will the 3 hours of work I’ve already done for this 4-6 hour assignment, plus overhead.

If I don’t get a reply from thier “support” staff before the end of today’s business, I will have to decline this mission, which I never do, get demerits with the MSC, and call my investments a loss.

It really doesn’t seem to be like any other apps, and I’m really surprised it would be a mandatory requirement. There are no instructions, no link to anything that might help, or even a link to a website, and the only other apps associated with the developer concern female biological functions. There’s nowhere to set up a profile, with an email or user # and the settings area is pretty empty of what would normally include basic details support could use to assist. It’s on my device but doesn’t show in the app gallery so I can’t even turn locations or other permissions on and off.

I confirmed it’s the correct one with the MSC (Intellishop).

The only reason I found a support link was because I went back to the App Store to read other reviews hoping for insight, and in its infinite wisdom, they’ve whittled any reviews down to the single most favorable one, so we can’t even help each other as users.

I work with a fully updated IPhone 14 Pro Max which already records the same data, and most other report forms have it built in it only allow photos takes in real time in the form.

Has anyone else had issues or have any insight for workarounds?

Thank you.

You've probably done this already, but did you try to uninstall the app and reinstall it? I don't understand how it could be on your phone and not in you app list. I'm not very techie, but I know locations need to be on for it to work.

It sounds like it could be some permission and/or geo setting conflict between your app and the cellphone. Try check the setting between the app and your cellphone. Grant permission everything that the app asked for and see if that fix the issue, and go from there.
Uninstalled, reinstalled. Confirmed all functions and permissions active in app and device. Form still can’t access the App Library where the images are stored and the copies on my phone don’t contain the required data.
Reached out to “support” via the App Store several days ago with no reply.

The “settings” area is focused on leaving an app review and social media “likes” with 2 choices for organizing image library. That’s all.

With no reply from “support” (offered only in the App Store) I reached out here. Thank you for your suggestions. Someone also PM’d me but none of thier suggestions have been fruitful, and they sent me a link to a utube video about an older version of the app that looks completely different.

With no reply from app “support” for several days, I decided to follow the link to leave an honest review of the app. Interestingly it would not populate, with an error message stating “no available connection.” Tried 2 more times with the same result, yet the App Store was fully functional, and I was able to search the app in the store along with all the others and find it listed with no impediments, including leaving a review. Anything under 3 stars results in the same error message.

The only reviews displayed in the App Store now are the high ratings, with no access to any critical reviews.

If developers can gerrymander positive reviews and block honest ones, the implications of that kind of manipulation are very concerning when it’s also advertised that an app won’t access private info or a developer hasn’t posted any policy about that kind of transparency required by US law in the app description. Not all apps are developed in the US, and App Store has relaxed their transparency and review policies dramatically, most likely to boost their traffic/ revenue.

No longer feels safe to have this app on my device, especially if it’s not doing what’s needed and there’s no developer response.

Abort mission again. I guess I won’t be doing Intellishop assignments requiring this app.

You may have tried this, have you checked the Photos app on your phone? When using the Time Stamp App to view the photo it does not work, however it is captured in the photos on the phone. It has worked with the Iphone XS Max and now the Iphone 17 Pro Max. I use it weekly, and so very sorry this has happened to you I hope you can find it in your photos app on the phone.
Will you message me which shop this is so I can avoid it? I did plenty of the lunch meat ones but with a different app. I told the scheduler that I was happy with the app I had and was assured it was fine to use mine after sending a sample image. But this sounds entirely different and like a specific app is required. One that I want nothing to do with....

Oh, NVM, I figured it out from the clues you gave. Thanks!

I was finally able to make it work on the due date.
Had to uninstall and reinstall 5x

The info gathered covers most of the image.

I can’t imagine why they’d require this when my IPhone pro max already records the same info in the image metadata (the lengthy instructions mention) as long as it’s taken in the report form or uploaded directly from the device.

The resulting image is 3/4 covered by the stamped on data, so it’s definitely not about image quality.

My best guess is it’s about breezing through the editing.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions and good intentions.

So appreciate this community.
