My very first shop in 2006 was for Bestmark. My assignment was to go to a big box store and report on the condition of the parking lot, get the greeter's name and how he greeted me, pretend to be interested in a laptop, and after letting the salesman attempt to sell me for about 20 minutes go to the camera department and let the saleswoman pitch her product for another 20 minutes, purchase something "like a pack of gum" so I would have a receipt to prove I was there, critique the cashier, pay attention to what the greeter said as I left the store. The online form was long and detailed. This shop took hours of my time. The pay? $10. I took Bestmark off my shopping list.
Smart girlgrinning smiley BTW, when did a nickel pack of gum start costing $2?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
They keep calling me 2 do shops at a national retailer with 2 departments assigned to obtain data and info from. I keep telling them time versus pay is pultry! I just ignore them! They did just increase pay per assignment by $2. SO BIG DEAL!
Do not accept these shops. There is no earthly way to accomplish what they want in the timeframe they offer. The pay is horrendous - not even equal to minimum pay.
STAY AWAY.

I think the secret to doing these big box store audits is to know which one you're going to be auditing, and how well the store is stocked, signed, priced and merchandised. Auditing he stores with minimal/no errors is not bad, even with reporting time.

God help you if the store you're going to audit is a mess. I did a series of audits for a location that was an absolutl cluster, and wound up taking pictures of the entire department(s) I audited for functionality - more than 50% of the displays were missing and or non-functional. Sales associates indicated that it had been that way for a looooooong time. I think I made $3 an hour on those audits, after it was all said and done.

I don't know if this particular big box store is stingy with the payments for these audits, or if it's Bestmark. Regardless, I wouldn't take a location that I knew was a mess, or an unknown location, unless bonused.
I cancelled my account at Best Mark even though I did not do I shop or merchandising audit....too much negative on the company -- I decided why waste time and poor service and pay the company provides its independent contractors....
