Confero - purchase gift card, reimburse $1 ?

I'm so confused. I signed up for a Confero shop which stated that I would need to inquire about a reloadable Visa-type card and make a "small" purchase, which would be reimbursed $1. The shop pay is $8. I was thinking this would be at a gas station where I could buy a $1 soda or candy bar.

Instead, I find out that this is at a check-cashing place. What do I purchase for $1 there?! Are they wanting me to purchase a reloadable Visa card at my own expense?

Anyone else signed up to do one of these?

Stamps. You can sometimes buy stamps there. Otherwise, get a brochure or take a picture of the front with the address.

I did one and the front didn't have the building number on it, so I got a shot with the store next door. They accepted it.
I just sent the scheduler an e-mail asking if they could waive the purchase requirement. I'm not going to spend my own money on an $8 job.
I've sent two emails to the scheduler and have not heard back yet. I am scheduled to do the shop tomorrow. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow morning when I wake up, I'm going to have to cancel the shop. sad smiley

LOL, you're probably right about that. I hate to cancel a shop, but after 2 emails I think I've done all I can do.

Don't you LOVE the shops where you aren't reimbursed?smiling smiley

Like the kids clothing store where the (not Confero) fee is $9 and you MUST purchase something and everything is expensive. So your "fee" drops from $9 to about $2 when you can find some cheap sockstongue sticking out smiley
I heard back from the scheduler, who said to just get a business card. I'm ok with that, and glad I didn't need to flake smiling smiley

I know, right? But it's right down the street from me, and it seems pretty easy. Christmas is coming up and I've spent a fortune on gifts. Gotta make money! But....I still won't do the Lowes for under $15 LOL
