Five Guys-The poor pickles
I've been doing the 5G shops and I, too, miss the pickles. I did a shop a couple days ago and was told that the pickles are starting to ship out but they started shipping to the 5G stores on the east first and will move west. I did chuckle because when I placed my phone order and asked for pickles I was told about the pickles. My guy offered pickle relish which he said was "picklish" and we both got a chuckle out of that one. I took the relish and it was not bad so you might want to try that as a substitute. I did not ding them for not having pickles as it was certainly an uncontrolled thing and certainly not the store or the employee's fault. The pickles, BTW, have been unavailable for at least a couple weeks. I was told that the factory had to be shut down and the whole place cleaned.
IIRC, the report specifically says not to count off for not having pickles.

Should I be concerned b/c I had pickles today at my Five Guys . . .?!?!?

I haven't counted them off for not having the pickles. I wanted to....but I didn't. I did comment favorably in the guy who explained the severity as I appreciated his honesty about the situation. I am surprised they didn't post a sign on the door or something in the store. One of the guys who took my order was saying he has had people almost jump over the counter out of anger for not having the pickles.
When I did a shop and they apologized for not having pickles, the cashier suggested relish. She said something like "relish is pickles, chopped up". She made me laugh, and while she was right, it sounded like something a little kid would say.
I did a 5 guys on Wednesday that had pickles. It was my first 5 guys in a while, I didn't even know there was a pickle issue until I saw the report.
The way it was worded in my instructions it sounded like they had decided not to offer them. I think it was worded "Five Guys no longer carries pickles, so do not mark off for this." "No longer carries" sounds like a permanent situation, not a temporary supply problem.
So the clerk was right when she said "the supplier didn't bring them." I said she did not appear to be knowledgeable because my instructions were telling me FG just didn't have them any more.
I'm glad to hear it was a temporary thing, because that was a bit of a deal breaker for me for doing any more of those shops (I also got some very disappointing fries this last trip). When they asked on the report "would you do this shop again?" I said No and added "Call me if they get pickles back."
Glad I'm not the only one for whom pickles on a burger is a rather big deal. For me, this was almost like telling me they were out of hamburger and how about a slab of lettuce on a bun instead? I eat burgers because I am craving pickles. (Don't try to get me to eat a pizza without pepperoni, either.)

One of my local 5G locations went out and bought their own pickles last week. The cashier told me she started her shift at WalMart and bought 20 large jars of Mount Olive pickles which I saw lined up a wire shelving unit.
I hate pickles, so no big deal for me. If they were out of cheese, that would be different.

The "no pickles" has been going on for over 30 days.
Since no pickles, the burgers don't taste as good to me. I tried A-1 and salty mushrooms but nothing helps. It takes some of the joy away, to me....

I did one two weeks ago and got the same no pickles. The cashier made such a big deal of it that when he gave me my drink cup he forgot to charge me for it. I'm doing another today and was hoping for pickles. We will see what happens.
If I go again I'll take a baggie with pickles in and slip them onto the burger after I do the "official" evaluation.

Did that shop two days ago and they had no pickles. Crew member said the pickles should be in stock on Thursday (yeah, right!).
Their facebook page specifically said the 15th, which is today. But I don't remember if they said all stores would have them by today, or only that their warehouse would have them again by today.

I don't do these shops, but if I did, I think I would bring my own pickles from home. A burger ain't a burger without pickles.

I could care less about the silly pickles. I order a patty melt. I have about 3 different things I order, and mix it up.
Well, then you can do my FG shops until the pickles are back.
I suppose someday I should look at the menu and see what else they have. They used to require us to order the burger so I've never looked at the menu.

I'm up for an online order at 5G's on Thursday. If they don't have the pickles I'll just order the "picklish." I was offered that the last time and had to laugh because my cashier said he had pickle relish which was "picklish" and I found I actually liked that better then the pickles.
I have found in the MW they have the pickles back. I mentally did a dance in my head to celebrate the return of the pickles. It was like i felt whole again.
This has been an interesting thread. I had no idea pickles were so popular.
I came from a little town called Dillsburg in PA. They have a Farmers Fair (big parade and street blocked off with food stands) in the fall and the newspaper put out for that occasion is called the Dill Pickle. Then come New Years they have a Pickle Drop.
