When the USPS Changes from *Company X* to *Company Y*....

Hi all, small update. We thought we would be able to start assigning yesterday, but last night I received the guidelines and there were things in there that I thought were contradictory, so I sent them back to the client. I'm not really willing to start assigning 7000 shops and then get 7000 (valid) emails with questions, so I am trying to make sure things are water tight before we assign. Apologies for the delay. The schedulers are glued to their computers as well wanting to get started. I will also ask about the new box purchase, that doesn't sound like it is worded correctly.

Just want to say that I for one really appreciate this. I would rather have a slight delay now and have the guidelines be crystal clear.

Cool. But it sounds like the ultimate client or the MSC or both have not yet really finalized much.

I estimate we are less than two hours away.
Edit, another snag that would take too long to explain. Should be rectified soon.

The guidelines for the box scenario reads "The weight of the content you put inside – up to 1 lb." Shipping less than 13 oz. will result in the clerk charging the customer for first class parcel. Should the guidelines be over 1 lb. and not less than?
The guidelines also state:
11. When approaching the counter, place your package on the counter and WAIT FOR THE CLERK TO MAKE A MAIL CLASS OFFERING. It’s a clerk’s job to ask you when the package needs to get to its final destination. When asked, specify you want the package to be delivered in 2-3 days.
12. Your package must be shipped Priority Mail no matter what is offered. If the clerk states that Standard Post will get there in the same time, please answer that you want the delivery guarantee and prefer Priority Mail.

My area post offices are very small. The displays and form counter are about 8ft. from the clerks counter. There are rarely more than 1 or 2 other customers in the post office, if any at all. How do you check for forms, and available inventory codes and not look suspicious?

Shopping Central Jersey Shoreline. WHAT? I'm an adult?! When did this happen?! How do I make it stop?!
Practice helps. You can browse at various places in th PO. You can take out your cellphone and pretend to use it while making observations. You can also sneak glances while talking to the clerk. Lastly, do it after the transaction.

Just do the jest you can.

I agree. The response is still not clear.
It used to be 1.2 pounds minimum.

Ship any weight up to 1 pound. Ship Priority regardless.
OR IS IT -
Reimbursement will cover up to 1 pound, ship whatever weight you want. Ship Priority regardless.
I think if you guys wait and view the whole guideline document you'll see that it is spelled out clearly.

Just read the guidelines. Pretty clear you "must" buy a box. Or are these still the guideline that are in the process of being rewritten?

Also, I know from personal experience the post office 69101 has moved from the address on the assignment...I know it moved in August, because when I went to do the shop in September, there was a notice on the door with the new address. No directions on how to get there, of course, just the address! Took me 45 minutes to find the new Post Office.
I have no idea which version you are viewing, but could you guys please, please stop picking things apart line by line until we have a finalized version? You will know when we do because we will start assigning the shops.

Yep, I could not agree more. Fellow posters, puhleeze wait until things are finalized with guidelines clearly defined before making all these suppositions and asking questions that clearly cannot be answered at this time. I do not blame Summit Scheduling for becoming annoyed at a lot of innuendo going out. CHILL
Just got the go ahead, we have 4700 locations with applications on them and more than a dozen schedulers assigning, so please be patient as they wade through them. You do NOT have to purchase a new box for the shops.

Wow! Congrats!

Okay shoppers, let's stay calm and let the schedulers have a little space while we all learn ho the heck this is going to go.

That would be great since I have a great box supply at work for free. It would be such a waste to have to buy new boxes.
Oh snap. I will be in BFE for sure on October 22nd. Those locations (probably had nobody apply, since maybe 2-3 shoppers have done them ever) have due dates a week out now. Oh well. The first three days of the week are going to be busy. smiling smiley
hi, where are the guidelines? I have seen the submission form, but not seeing guidelines at all!
I was wondering the same thing. I have a link for the survey and the survey print preview, but no "guidelines". The print preview and survey make it sound like I can mail any weight to any zone using any mail class, as long as it is in a box. Btw, do we get reimbursed if we end up purchasing a box? I have used up all of my free boxes a long time ago. That sounded way too good to be true. So, I came here to see if anyone had already broached these questions. I see schedulers from Summit Scheduling saying the guidelines(?) state that it has to be priority, less than a pound, and zones 1-5........
I got three shops assigned to me and I have NO guidelines on any of them. All my packages are going to go to the same person, so I REALLY need to know what I am supposed to be doing this weekend so I can shop next week.

It's really odd, they were there when we started assigning yesterday and now they are gone. We have sent an urgent email to the client to get them reloaded.

Hi just got my USPS shops and am grateful for them. Since the guidelines have not been posted yet, I'm wondering if I'll be able to send them to myself as I did in the past. If not, is there someone on the forum who'd like to mail packages back and forth with me? Just a thought.
Go look on your shop board, you might have been assigned without an email notice. I never got a notice but see assigned when I went there. I would have totally missed it. Also see that my # of apps does not match the # I actually did apply for.... Some are totally missing just as applied not as assigned. I understand not getting all applied for but the apps should still show.
A notification will come, just not right away. It's one of things we have asked to be updated - for those to send more frequently.

Not specific in guidelines IF box will be reimbursed and if so price of box limit. Also note zone limit for plain box. No longer are further zones allowed for box. They are required on the DIM ones.

I read it as any zone is allowed out further - you can mail your box anywhere in the US. It's just if you want to stay within the reimbursable limits for the mailing you need to watch it. Reading these guidelines I feel totally comfortable mailing to my condo in FL from here in IL and knowing I might be picking up a couple of the dollars of the postage.

I looked at the guidelines and at the form which is to be filled out for the report. It appears to me that there will no longer be a reimbursement for purchasing the box for Scenario A. There is certainly no place to input the cost of the box on the form. The fee for the shop went up, so I am not going to complain (too much) about having to buy a box. For me, that means one less receipt to upload. I will of course deduct the cost of the box as a business expense when I file my income tax return. So far, 9 have been assigned to me and 4 more are pending. I will not see if there are more that I want to apply for.

I applied for 3 of these shops. I was assigned 2 random shops that I didn't apply for???
I'm grateful I was assigned...turns out I can swing one of the locations but the other is way too far (I'm in nyc so there's a plethora). Can someone please explain how I can be assigned for something I didn't apply for?

We're working on this, I always hate to put things here until they are fully solidified, but indications are that the box will be reimbursed and it will be added to the form.

Please contact your scheduler, their name is in the shop info.
