What is the most unusual thing you ever had to put in a report?

Nothing too exciting for me. Had to report about a trail of feces leading from the stall to the exit, and reported that I found roaches at a fast food place.

That's just nasty!!! Ugh....think I would have stayed in a hot shower after that shop until the water went cold!

And did you have to pay in cash to see how she handled it?

Fortunately for me there was no temptation because there were no female therapists available and my therapist was male....and it wasn't specifically offered as "Happy ending". He simply said, "Would you like me to finish you off?" It took a minute to register what was even being offered and I declined at that point.

The punch line to the story is that I was really concerned about it causing an uproar if I reported it, as it was an exclusive upscale hotel in New York, so I called the MSC and asked how I should handle it. They were equally concerned and called the hotel manager, effectively blowing my cover, to warn that they were planning to report on the incident. As it was told to me, the manager calmly replied, "Glad to know our guests are being well taken care of..."

Since you didn't name the MSC, could you name the client? LOL winking smiley

Automotive sales shop. I inquired about a truck, (online ahead of time, and multiple times during the shop), yet I was shown only cars, and the guys never tried to initiate a sale. I was there for over an hour, and gave him every oppritunity to offer a sale of show me trucks, but nothing.

Your story reminded me of something similar I had happen at a new car shop. I had to inquire about a specific make and model, and take a test drive if offered. Well, the guy walked me over to three of the cars they had in stock, and just asked which color I wanted. LOL. NO mention of ANY features, no demonstrations, no sales pitch, NOTHING. I said I liked "the red one", and we went on a test drive. I figured once we were in the car he'd tell me more about the vehicle, but again NOTHING. As soon as we left the dealership lot he started telling me about his personal life...his kids in college, the military and prison, his crazy girlfriend, his crazy ex wife who hated feet and wouldn't even let him take his shoes off during sex (yup, I really needed to know that!). and on and on. I wanted to tell him I'm not Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer. I swear I felt like I was on one of those hidden camera shows to see how long I would put up with it. By the time we got back to the dealership I knew more about HIS family than my own...and had learned absolutely nothing about the vehicle.

On a positive note, the report was super easy. Most questions asked what the sales person said about various specific features and how they were demonstrated...and I just checked "did not mention feature" for each. The narrative about the test drive was quick too because all I had to say was that the sales associate engaged in personal conversation, and did not talk about the vehicle.

I wonder if he still works there...
Well, just this very morning I was performing a convenience store shop. As I walked into the store I noticed a car parked out front with the engine running and the driver was passed out cold. I continued on into the store thinking that perhaps he was just sleeping. Mind you, it was 6:00 in the morning! Eight minutes later I exit the store and the car is still there. I looked in and the guy was still passed out. I got in my car, immediately got back out of my car, and went back into the store and advised them of the situation and asked that they please contact the police. We have a DUI in progress! I leave and go on to my regular job which happens to be at the local police department. I pulled up the store address and the bastards never called the police. They let a passed out drunk drive out of their parking lot. Did I put all of this into my report? Hell no! It wasn't required information and not part of the shop.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
Did you notify the police? If not, I don't see how are you any less responsible. Am I missing something?
Doing a gas station audit, opened the bathroom door to see that someone had a bout of explosive diarrhea and it was all over the floor and walls. I had to take pictures as required by the report, but I could barely even stand at the door the smell was so bad. (Two months later the location was torn down and completely rebuilt with a different company running the store.)
I had a cashier ring up my clearly large coffee in a new paper cup as a small refill, guess he thought I was cute.

I didn't have to include this on a report, but I did a bank shop where the banker's first name and my middle name were the same, and it's a somewhat unusual name. We had a conversation about it. A year or so later, my husband and I had to have something notarized and went to that same branch, and it was the same banker. She was filling out the paperwork that included my middle name and asked if she had helped me in the past. I had to say yes, but obviously didn't elaborate. When we left the bank I said to my husband that I had done a shop with her, and he said he did too, and the shop had been questioned because he'd spelled her name wrong. Which would be amusing, since it's my middle name, but he's dyslexic so I gave him a pass.

I did a 3 part shop at my credit union yesterday. It went well until the part where I had to meet with a banker. That one interaction is making me rethink having an account there, not to mention consolidating my portfolio with them. I did report it, but not fully.

I was doing a shop where it explicitly says that you can't eat on the patio. As I was paying for my food, there was a gas leak and they closed the dining room and moved the few customers that were inside to the patio. As soon as we finished eating outside, they closed the restaurant. I was at the same restaurant a year later and the manager did table visits in order to apologize for the homeless man that came in and was badgering customers for money and the cashier for a free coke. The police were called. It was an eventful dinner. And to think of it, it was the same place that I had to comment that there was a booger dried to the wall. Maybe that place isn't my favorite and for good reason!
He was parked. Maybe his car was on for the heater while he slept. How is that a DUI? Don't you need to be driving for that to be so? Did you see him drive out of the parking lot? And are the call records at your local police station public records? They aren't in my area until except for specific releases to the local police blotter.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
I was doing a Toyota shop a couple years ago. My full-time job is real estate; I told the salesman I needed a car comfortable to take my clients around, but I wanted a hybrid. He took me to the smallest Prius style. I said I was thinking something larger. He replied, "This should be good enough for your real estate clients. If they don't like it, tell them they can drive their own car." I was speechless!
Sometimes with experiences like that, I have to wonder if they might have figured you out and are just messing with you. Of course, I wouldn't doubt that some people are just that bad. I've done a lot of auto sales shops and I've only had one that directly called me out as a shopper and another where the guy was obviously too nice to directly accuse me but insinuated. Unbeknownst to me, for that second experience I was assigned a dealership that I didn't know sold the same brand of cars as the first where I was blatantly called out. I'm assuming I'm now in that brand's database because of the second experience. They surely had extremely negative feelings about shoppers as evidenced by what I was put through. I'd rather not detail it, but it was the most rigorous bit of torture I've ever endured, mainly because I had to drive 5 hours to get there and back and I was not about to lose out on being paid.

I don't know if it is the same in every state, but in my state a key in the ignition (turned on or not) is enough to be considered "operating the vehicle." If you really have to sleep one off in your car, take the key out of the ignition and sleep in the passenger seat. :-/
I had to shop the IRS once. Had my story ready, took a number and sat down to wait. An hour later, still waiting, the fire alarm went off. We were ordered outside and after about fifteen minutes outside, a person came out to tell us it was just a drill, but since it was so close to closing time (30 minutes away!), we should all go home. I got her name and reported everything that happened to the scheduler. She paid me for my time and did not require me to go back.
As to the guy "sleeping it off" in the car, it was an assumption he was passed out rather than just sleeping at 6 am. Mystery shop or not, the employees job or not, a little human decency would suggest someone check on the guy. For all anyone knows he was sick or had a damn heart attack.

In my state, you have to lock the key in the trunk which is only good for the vehicles that have trunks. Vans and wagons do not count and probably Trucks. Guess you could put the keys in the engine compartmentt. But what drunk will even think of putting it anywhere except the ingnition.
3) This one is gross. At a fast food place someone had managed to take a crap on the floor. Enough said...[/quote]

I wonder if someone was expressing an opinion about fast food.

I was going into mail a package when a couple of Rottweilers broke the window of the truck parked next to me and came at me. I ran fast.

I was driving to do a business verification when I was in an accident at at 65 mph. My car was totaled, I broke my wrist and was sent to the hospital in an ambulance. The verification contact was angry because I didn't make the appointment and called an hour past to let her know what happened. Sorry lady, next time, I'll dial you from the ambulance.

I was doing a series of hotel shops in Portland, another accident and my second car was totaled. Got in trouble with the mystery shop company for checking in ten minutes late. Next time, I'll have a rental car and tow truck waiting at the scene of the accident, during rush hour.

I visited a sandwich shop on the Hill in Boulder, CO. This is located right off the campus of University of Colorado. The shop manager was so thrilled to have old people visiting his shop, he comped us two salads, although I begged him to let me pay for them. I recommended to the mystery shop company, that they might want include an age restriction next time.

Back in the day, I'm shopping for a Nextel phone, trying to trick the store personnel to sell me a phone without following the proper procedures for including ID in the paper work. I tricked them and they were going to sell me a phone without the paper work. Six months later, I am shopping the same location for the same reason. When I ask for a Nextel phone, that manager blows up, "You, you! I know you, you were in here before trying to but a Nextel." I told him I didn't know what he was talking about and left in a hurry. I did note his name. I called the store the next day, John, the manager was not working until the afternoon. Dressed down, wore my yard work clothes and went shopping for a Nextel phone. Son of gun, they fell for the same scam again. They were ready to let me buy a phone with a promise that the paperwork would be faxed over.

I'm doing a shop where I visit check cashing places that are offering to do income tax returns. I am standing at window talking to the teller about their income tax service, when I hear the tax preparer tell a customer that she will be getting her tax return done at H&R Block. All was duly noted in the report.
Medowynd, I think you and Cettie would have a grand time together comparing stories!!!

That's what I was thinking.
I have had two shops recently for the same company, but different locations where they automatically gave me the senior discount. I asked if they charged me correctly (since it was not the amount in the job notes). Both times they admitted that they assumed, because they were close to retirement communities and most of their customers are seniors.
I am never sure if I should correct them or not on a job. On my own time I would. But on a job should I just pay what they charge and report it?

If ONLY it had been a video shop!
This was more a Sunoco Sticker assignment but I asked to use the restroom and when I went inside, there was no sink! I came back out and asked the associate what happened to the sink? He said they removed it months ago and I could wash my hands in the hand-sink next to the lottery area..tongue sticking out smiley
The apartment shop I did last week, the leasing agent was beyond awesome. When we toured "my apartment," there was a huge cockroach crawling around it. I used that as my "objection" and described her reaction in my report.

At a gas station shop:
"Do you have a restroom I can use?"
Attendant (as though she's said it a thousand times in the past):
"You can just go behind the ice machine outside."

I didn't HAVE to put it in the report, but I did anyway. Figured I'd give an editor a funny story.

Last week I had a really quick tour of an apartment in the dark because of the gas leak we smelled when we walked in.

Lisa, you still walked in after you smelled gas?
