Cajun Fries or Regular Fries at Five Guys

Is it alright to order the cajun fries for the Five Guys Shop? I notice that my order gets made last since they have to add the seasoning to mine.

1,000 calories just for the fries. I stay away from that place, even on cheat day.

It's not 1000 calories if you only eat one, which is all you need to do to evaluate them.

But yeah, it's not the healthiest shop. Generally, I find their fries too salty. I know that sounds weird but even just the regular ones are salted to within an inch of their life. I can feel my fingers swelling up just thinking about them. At least that helps me to only eat a couple on shops.

I only ordered Cajun once and thought they were extremely salty....as I thought my high blood pressure.tongue sticking out smiley
One fry? Cali, I would never insult a potato like that!

Fries are my kryptonite. When hubby and I go to Red Robin, we will order the cheesy fries as our appetizer (not bottomless), and a side salad in place of the fries that come with the burger.

I always order Cajun seasoning on the side. One time I made the mistake of ordering Cajun fries and they were the saltiest, nastiest fries I'd ever had. I like being able to put on how much (or little) seasoning.
Yes, it's okay to order Cajun, Cajun seasoning on the side, or light Cajun. My issue is that an order of little fries now exceeds $3 - ridunkulous!!!

Ummm.... Five Guys actually uses freshly cut potatoes and cooks them in peanut oil. Potatoes are a GREAT source of complex carbs and peanut oil contains a high amount of health-beneficial monounsaturated fats, low in saturated fat and zero trans fat.

The key is understanding HOW MUCH to eat during your meal. I skip out on the cajun powder for unnecessary flavoring and resort to other more natural flavorings such as the malt vinegar.

What I do is portion out the fries to what will meet my macro nutrients for the day for my diet, then save a good portion of the potatoes for future meals. Typically, I save those leftover potatoes on those days I have a Five Guys shop for breakfast to replace my daily dose of oats and / or lunch to add on some carbs, if needed to meet my daily nutrient goals.

Also, do you guys call the store location before going? I have never done it and answer "no" to that question in the report every time with no issues.

I'll call, or check the webpage the first time I go to a location. But once I know the hours. No. I do not call. Like you I have never had an issue answering no to that question on the report.

And they are still 1000 calories.

You completely ignored the part when I suggested portioning the fries and spreading it to multiple meals...

Yes, I did. Just like I ignore the fries!

My hat goes off to you for spreading fries across multiple meals. I simply cannot do that with a food I love that much. If anything, I'll ask for a half a portion. The server usually does not comprehend that.

the little fries are only 500 calories, and the portion is more than enough for me. I typically eat about half of them. I'll order a hamburger with it, with no fattening condiments like mayo. i don't waste calories on soda(well not the high fructose crap they serve there). i'm probably eating 1,000 calories per visit there, which is fine for a meal.
So if you have to order the shake the calorie count goes up to 1600 I would think. Fries are my kryptonite also but I have been banned from 5 Guys ( I guess for life since it has been almost 3 years). Good things - I have lost 10 lbs. Bad things - I got addicted to their fries and will pay on my own dime occasionally. How do you eat them the next day? I have not found a way to make day old fries appetizing.
if you put them in the oven they're good again in my opinion. obviously forget about the microwave.
Yeah, I tried reheating them in my toaster oven later...gross. Forget nuking them, I like crispy fries anyway. I never have a problem eating just a couple of them because I am not a fan of their fries. And after having the bacon cheeseburger I am too full to eat them all anyway (even the "little" fries are a huge portion!) so I just toss the rest.

As for the hamburger, I kill the bun and cheese, then add bacon, mushrooms, extra onions, peppers and BBQ sauce. Them I add a little vinegar for additional flavor and throw in some of the fries in there.

Agreed on the fountain drink; I stick with the iced tea and water it down if it's that Luzianne sweet tea.

These kind of shakes are definite diet killers, no matter how you look at them.

As for the leftover fries, I microwave them and eat them with ham and eggs. For a lunch meal, I eat it with some hummus, beans and chicken. You get the idea. The fries no longer are seen as fries, but as breakfast potatoes.

How/Who/Why did you get banned from 5Guys? Please give full detail, as I may want to use that!

I think that MSC is known to take shoppers out of rotation if they do a whole bunch of any particular shops.
I can sit at a table with a whole plate of hot, crispy fries in front of me and ignore it. But put a milkshake or a bowl of ice cream and I'm dunnzo... I will have the whole thing even if I just ate a meal. I guess we all have our kryptonite.

It's a shame we didn't know each other when I lived in LA! Can you imagine the damage we would do at In-n-Out?!

I can just see it: animal fry residue on my chin and blouse, and your head imploding from strawberry milkshakes.

HonnyBrown - Not sure why I got banned but one summer I spent a lot of time at 5Guys. I may have been outed as they seemed to know me after a while. I would usually go to the ones close to my house. That was when I first started shopping and was hitting the accept for a lot of 5Guys. Makes me sad as that was the first shop I ever did. Still remember how nervous I felt in the parking lot wondering if I was going to remember all the detail. Funny now as there is really not much detail to remember. It may have been because I always gave them glowing reports but it was always a good experience so what you gonna do? I was banned after about a year and was shocked to see that I was not able to accept the shops anymore and then they disappeared from my list of potential jobs. Maybe I just got too old to eat hamburgers : (.

Trust me, they make exceptions.

I told the MSC early on that I knew someone who worked at every location. They still call me to do shops.

Cali, one of my friends in LA was a vegan. You just described our quarterly outings!
