An example of a scheduler not answering the question.

This is the message that I received the other day from the Field Director, in which she stated that my rating was lowered because of the grammatical and spelling errors that I had allegedly made in the shop report. There was no mention of that in the shop report notes, but whatever. Note her comment about ratings. (It is ironic that Grammarly is showing two errors in her statement.)

ITEM 1
"We appreciate your assistance in shopping with _______________. . You are unable to self assign due to your rating. While the ratings do exist, they are only used for editing purposes. Therefore, we do not offer shoppers their numerical rating. Instead we offer you feedback on how to improve your reports."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below is a listing that I noticed today on that company's Job Board. Note that it states that one has to have a rating of at least "5". Yet, they do not offer shoppers their numerical rating, so why did they mention a rating?. Now, in my opinion, that is very...uh...puzzling. How can a shopper know what their rating is if the company does not offer the ratings to the shoppers?

ITEM 2
"If you meet the following qualifications, you can immediately SELF ASSIGN shops to yourself:
* Your Shopper Rating must be at least 5."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are more qualifications, but that is the relevant one. Surely, the contradictory nature of the two items is obvious. I mean, come on.

I've received responses from schedulers that don't answer the specific question that was asked. Sometimes it takes one or more follow-up e-mails in order for the scheduler to understand and specifically respond to the question. It seems that they must read half of the e-mail and then respond with standard boilerplate language. It looks as if this is what happened to the OP.

I don't understand what was so out of line about the OP's first four questions to the MSC. It would have been simple enough for the scheduler to answer in a concise and straightforward way. The response from the scheduler clearly did not address the OP's question. The response from the other person sounds like a template, perhaps customized and perhaps not, and is filled with corporate tripe-speak.

I can understand the OP's frustration. And the notation "self assign (qualified)" is not really clear, especially if a shopper tries to self assign and can't. Which happened, as the OP did state, although not in the first post. And which many people apparently didn't see. Of course that's confusing! "Self assign (if qualified)" would seem to be a better way to notate this. If you try to self assign and you can't, then you're not qualified. If you don't know why (not enough shops with the MSC, rating too low, out of rotation), then the only question one would need to ask is: "Can you tell me why I'm not qualified to self assign this shop?" I think most of the time, shoppers know if they're qualified to self assign or not. But just adding that one word would make it easier. IMO.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

Indy101, sometimes there is a glitch in the MSC software. Sometimes when I try to self assign, the available calendar dates to do the shops do not show up. Another time it might be that the MSC is looking for a targeted age/nationality without stating it. Or when you try to self assign, the MSC makes a generalized page for anyone to self assign until they log in to self assign. Then, you cannot self assign because you have completed the shop at the location recently. Or it could be the client who called the shots for a specific shopper. Who knows?

How do you give a thumbs-down?

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.

Good point!
Does anyone know what the going rate is for having to read these repetitive posts from the OP? We should be able to charge a fee to the combative and high-maintenance shopper for wasting our time.
By the way, Sybil2, that is not the definition of insanity, and that quote has never been proven to have been made by Al E. I hope that you do not think that correcting your error is combative.

Use this as a search term: "The above quote has been mis-attributed [sic] to Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, and Mark Twain. In fact, none of these great minds were responsible for such a convincing, yet blatantly incorrect definition."

You are funny. What I do when I do not want to read a post is I do not look at it. I ignore it. I have never encountered a topic and its thread popping up without my clicking on it first.

The attempted snark is not a good look on Indy101. Such a bad attitude for a newbie. No wonder most of her posts are disappearing into the abyss.
You don't have a bad attitude. She thinks her responses speak for a 'group' on this forum, of non-newbies, and she is misinformed.
It looks like a bunch of posters are expressing opinions about indy's posts. indy's posts are all smaller and lighter. Some are so light and so small I can barely read them. Although I don't have a thumbsdown, it would appear that there are many who have it and who have given the thumbsdown.

Irene is absolutely right about not being forced to read posts, but unfortunately when a post is there it's hard not to read it. You only realize after reading it that it wasn't worth reading. Of course, we could all toggle the person whose posts we don't want to read. But then you always peek. But it doesn't look like a longterm problem because indy's posts have been given so many thumbsdowns that they are almost unreadable. How many thumbsdowns does it take for a post to completely disappear?
I shop many self-assign shops. To qualify is based on the time frame, 30, 60, 90 days or other determinations, location, how many times you have shopped etc. I like self-assign shops, if I don't qualify the MSC does all of the work for me by letting me know it's not my time yet! I just keep self-assigning until I get the shop if it's still available. INDY, have you done any self-assign shops in the past? No one on this forum is against your question, they are just trying to answer in the simplest way. When the calendar doesn't show the dates, that means you don't qualify for those dates.
I do believe that INDY just doesn't understand the self-assign option. INDY simplify!

Tell us the select few that have a "thumbs down"...inquiring minds want to know.

Actually, I didn't know that I had one until this discussion came up. I have yet to use it...

Irene, only Jacob would know the answer. Maybe you should address the question to him in Meta. It has been discussed in Meta, but unless I missed seeing something, Jacob has never said how many or which forum members have the icon and never identified the criteria for getting it.
