What do you buy with the $1 product reimbursement for the required inside purchase at a gas station?

I am trying to find a useful item to purchase. Not interested in soda or candy. Any suggestions?

Individual packets of Tylenol. Travel size tissues. It is always interesting what you might find getting away from the candy and chip aisles.

I found it also didn't bother me to go over the reimbursement a bit if it was for something useful. For instance, on routes I always like to take Starbuck's Double Shots. They run about $2.50 so the reimbursement was a discount bringing the price in line with buying them at the grocery store without making the extra trip to the grocery store.

My usual is a bottle of Poland Spring Water. Price varies from $.89 to $1.50 depending on the location. I also get small packs of tissues or bananas, or nuts. In winter I get coffee, but usually go over reimbursement for that.

I don't mind going over a little if I buy things I want or need anyway. But today I found cans of cat food for $.89 and in a different gas station I got paper towels for $1.00. Then for my spouse who cherishes her coca cola I got a 2 liter bottle for $.99. I love the idea of the Double Shots. I'm going to start doing that.
I have accumulated packs of gum. I have started getting bottled water regularly. It seems like a bit of a waste, but that way I don't have to bring water with me. Sometimes, I'll buy snack chips or trail mix.
tums or rolaids if you ever need them the small rolls are great to have in car on routes just in case.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
peanut butter cheese crackers or a sleeve of Planter's peanuts. And some of the aforementioned items.
A little debbie iced honey bun.... until I feel fat.... then water.

@sstazz - Do you get away with buying two things for $1? I never tried buying multiple items. Figured they would whine.

CoffeeQueen, if there is any doubt about finding a local coffee shop or just to save stopping on a long route, double shots are a real lifesaversmiling smiley

I've become quite fond of the 'heat' style.

Usually a brand of iced tea I really like is around $1 to $1.19. I don't get upset if the tea ends up costing me a quarter or less after that dollar reimbursement.

I've become addicted to the Doritos Munchie Crackers that usually go between 59 and 89 cents.
Usually that, or a bottled water. Or a change of pace bag of chips.
Sometimes you can get 2 bottles of snapple or Arizona (20oz) for$1,50, usually a in store special sale. It is good to have an extra drink in the car, when one needs it.
That's what I buy, the .99 cent arizona tea. Sometimes a small cup of coffee with the cup shots of hazelnut creamer and black shots.

I feel like an idiot asking for a receipt, lol
They should be giving us a receipt for our purchases. Yea, can I get a receipt for my .99 cent purchase even though no one else would ask for a receipt because you never give refunds for anything at all...lol.

Panda always gives me a receipt because they don't want to give me free food!
If you feel uncomfortable asking for a receipt on a shop, always ask for a receipt every time you conduct a transaction. Once it is a habit, you won't care anymore.

When I ask for a receipt for a small purchase I roll my eyes and say that my husband is on a budget kick and wants me to document ALL the money I spend. I usually get a sympathetic chuckle with my receipt.

When I ask for a receipt, I just ask for my receipt with no explanation. I honestly don't recall from my days before MSing, but since then I have definitely made it a habit whether working or not. I think they are legally obligated to provide one.

Yes! The peanuts are where it's at! Especially the spicy ones! I do that, too!

I purchase Dawn soap, toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water and other items that I would otherwise need to purchase. Toilet paper is the best, I like watching the looks I get in line with my one roll of paper.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
I picked up some shell-less Dill Pickle Sunflower seeds today. Dropped them off at my baby sisters work.

There are plenty of apps to use your receipts for.
I always look for the packages of nuts or shelled sunflower seeds that are 2 packs for $1.00. They are great to have in my glove box for when I don't want to be tempted by fast food, I am diabetic, and I have lost 46 pounds since the beginning of December by getting my blood sugar under better control. Plus, I like having a "healthier" snack available if I see a person on a freeway off-ramp with a sign that says, "Anything will help." Their eyes really light up if I can give them nuts or fruit.
I purchase items that are available on Ibotta, Checkout 51, Fetch Rewards, Mobisave, etc. These are phone apps that you upload the receipt after purchase and it gives you money back. This way I can stretch that $1 into $2 or $3 depending on the item and offers out there (they change all the time). If using the receipt from a shop for a MSP that has you put your shopper ID, Visit number, etc. on it, I make sure to tear off that info after taking a picture for the shop before I upload to the rebate app.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.

The only thing that asking for a receipt for a $1 item tells the cashier is that you are their shopper, and that's not your problem. Otherwise, they really don't care. No need to feel stupid.
