Concerned about how my report was edited

I did a sandwich shop on iSS yesterday, and this morning it was returned to me for review. The explanation was that it was a positive shop, and they wanted me to look it over once more to make sure I hadn't missed any criticism. No problem, I thought, that makes sense.

However, when I looked at my report, all of the drop down menus had been changed to "exceeded expectations," whereas I had selected a mix of "met expectations" with a few that exceeded. My text was completed butchered. There were many sentences that were no longer grammatically correct, and some that were missing important details that allowed the section to make sense. Several sections were now below the character limit, which meant that I had to add characters in order to resubmit.

Frankly, I'm really concerned that my name is attached to this report, considering the sloppy writing post-editing. It really does not paint a clear picture of my visit. I wrote a note back to the company mentioning what happened. I fixed a few things so that they made sense, but I did not volunteer my time to rewrite the whole report--figuring that this might be the way they want the report, and that they are not paying me nearly what my time is worth.

Anyway, I'm kinda horrified by the experience and thought I'd share with people who might understand!

Once you submit the report it belongs to the MSC not you. They can do whatever they want with it. At that point their name is the one attached to the report, not yours. Personally I care about what I submit to the MSC. Past that I don't care about it.

Oh yay! I just realized that my original shop text was included in the submission email I received. At least I know that if there are any problems, I have proof that the issue was not mine.
That's a good point, and in general I agree. I think it only bothered me this time because I had to see it and approve it. I think that made me feel complicit in submitting poor work.

I find it had to believe that a good company like ISS would change your report. I just did a report (another MSC) and the editor came back and asked me to fix my time in and out. I had put another time in and she didn't fix it, i had to go back into report and do it myself....this is the norm, but anything can happen.

In this case, the MSC is not iSS--that was just the platform I used. I'm sure most reports are changed in editing. This one was massively changed, and I have the PDF proof.

I also could care less what the MSC does to/with my report once I submit it as completed. The one caveat would be what the OP outlined. If the editor is going to chop up a report, why would they send it back to the shopper for approval or corroboration? I'm not going to spend my time rewriting someone else's lack of prose when I submitted a superior product the first time.

I would have liked that post were it not for the use of the phrase "could care less"

At least she didn't say, "loosing money" or some such bozo expression.

If being complicit is wanting to be a force of good and to make a positive impact, then you're complicit.
