New Shopper - Did FF Shops for SSIshops [mod edited for ICA violation]

Does anyone have a site for this company. When you put in the name you get site under construction. I have the contact info for Tom Callaghan who scheduled me for the shops. Hope I didn't make a mistake doing these shops. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Maureen

Please edit your post. It is a violation of your Indeoendent Contractor Agreement to reveal both the a Mystery Shop Company and the client.

Maureen, there is a search function on this forum. Type in Tom Callaghan and change to "all dates". You will find a lot of info.

OCyou2, I did what you said out of curiosity and there were only 4 hits--2 of them were for this particular thread and 2 were unrelated job board postings for another MSC. If you could post a link to any threads that could enlighten the OP that would be great. Meanwhile, moesale, you do need to edit your subject line as it is a violation of the forum guidelines to reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies. Take out the name of the FF company and just write "FF shops" instead to fix it.

If you extended the search to all dates you get more then 4 hits, and it is all bad. That name is related to a lot of BBB reports and non-payment threads. Sorry to say. Good luck to the OP.

ICA violations aside, anything scheduled by Tom Callaghan would set me running away, not looking for shops. Based on the problems other shoppers have repeatedly reported with payment by Tom Callaghan, I would not do any shops for him.

I know how to use the search function, but for some reason it did not populate more than 4 hits (and yes of course I used "all dates" when searching). It's not the first time that this forum has had a glitch of some sort. But, when I tried using a search engine outside of the forum, I was able to be redirected to an old thread:

I just tried the exact same method as before using the search engine on the forum and this time there were 100+ hits, LOL. Go figure.

Abut 5 pages of posts come up going back more than 7 years when I do a search on Tom Callaghan. These are a few. All bad.

WOW! I feel I must be fortunate.....back in early May, I did an optical shop for SSI, with a different scheduler (Jennifer). She had told me that payment was 45-60 days after shop submission via Paypal. Well, at Day 61, with no payment, I emailed her, and received a generic "I'm on vacation....if you are contacting about optical shops, email Tom Callaghan at ........" So I did, and he emailed back in less than 24 hours, with an apology, and my payment in my Paypal account!! So I am very thankful that my one interaction with him was a positive one.

I apologize, I was not trying to imply that you did it incorrectly. I was simply trying to help you with what got me the results (when I did it). Again, sorry about that.

It's okay, I took it in the manner it was intended (helpful). No worries.

I also got 4 hits and I put in all dates also. I just gave up. I can assume it’s not good lol.

I'm scheduled for 2 additional shop today. Going to contact Tom via his email and let him know that I have received information that is negative and that I will not do the additional shops until I receive payment for the 3 I already did. Thanks for all the info everyone. Think I'll visit here first before doing any shops. I'm new so I guess it's ok to be burned once.

Righto, but the mods got to it before you. The trick is you can talk about a mystery shopping company, or you could talk about a business, but if the MSC shops a particular business you can't discuss it and link them in the same thread. Most forum members have made the same mistake when first joining and posting in the forum, and even veterans occasionally slip up when they haven't had enough coffee, LOL (or maybe have had too much wine).

Hey moesale, my first burn was from Franchise Compliance to the tune of $213.88. I had done a shop for the MSC years ago and got paid, so I wasn't concerned when I did the second shop a couple of years later. I then found the threads on the forum from others who got burned. He (owner Adam Valdez) ran off with shopper's money and his business is of course no longer a thing.

UPDATE: I contacted the company, was assured no worries. I did not do the other shops. No worries about that, hoped I would shop again at a future time. I'll report back when I receive payment, Hopefully!

So, you told the company that you would refrain from doing business with them until you get paid for the shops that you've already done because you heard bad things about the company?

Yes, I did. I like to take a direct approach, I don't mince words. Letting them know that I was not investing my time and treasure was nescessary. They have the right to know why I chose not to move forward with the two additional shops I was scheduled for. I received a reply, we'll see if what was said comes to fruition. Maybe I've saved another shopper from spending their time and treasure.
