I wonder if there are any active members of this forum who were taught in high school (ages 13 to 18 for the sake of clarity) that there were either 48 or 49 states?
There could actually be someone on the Forum who was alive when there were only 47 states, and if they are still shopping, I am amazed and I salute them!

There were 48 states, then Hawaii and Alaska made 50 if my memory is correct. I now say 50 states because that is what we have. Seems folks are getting a bit picky, history is what it is, we are living in the now.

Alaska and Hawaii entered as states in 1959 - I was 11 years old and I remember going from 48 to 50 states while studying states and their capitals in school (something that is not done anymore) - and yes, I'm still mystery shopping! And NO, I do not consider myself ancient!

As I was in high school in the 50s, I seem to recall that Alaska was the 49th state, but that the flag makers lobbied for a slight postpone of Hawaii, which entered that summer. There was actually a 49 state flag, with seven rows of seven stars.
I wonder how many flaws there are in war movies made over the past several decades where they show the flag and it has 50 stars? I guess no one is going to freezeframe and count them...LOL.
The mods are only going to moderate what gets reported. It's not like they read every thread.

I dunno about absurdly low. Some assignments are absurdly easy, and their fee should be commensurately low. However, each shopper can figure out fuel costs, mileage, other travel costs, etc. and get an additional payment which is separate from a fee.

Like the BJ's Brewhouse curbside shop I did. Some of it I did on the Mobi app while waiting to go pick up the food. Then I took photos on my phone using the app upon arriving home, and then finished the report on my desktop. I just ate some pretty good food with a generous reimbursement of $35, much simpler shop than anything ACL ever had to offer. Heck yeah!
Noticing on a site, they advertise one job for 80.00, then reading the job, it is for 8 jobs at 10.00 each.

While Hanson is a good answer, an argument could also be made that John Hamilton was the first president of the United States. The United States came into being on July 2, 1776 (not July 4) when the Second Continental Congress voted independence. Hamilton was president of that body.
Hanson served under the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union (commonly called the Articles of Confederation) which was not ratified until March 1, 1781. I would argue that being President of the Continental Congress is not the same title as being President of the United States in Congress Assembled (as was John Hanson).
BUT - and this is a BIG BUT - if one accepts your argument, then I contend that the right answer would be Peyton Randolph who was President of the First Continental Congress and carried on in the same role to the Second Continental Congress. He was succeeded by John Hancock. It gets even murkier because Henry Middleton was the presiding officer for a few days before Peyton Randolph. And guess who preceded Henry Middleton? My new hero, Peyton Reynolds!

Good of you to remind of the First Continental Congress. I exclude it and the early presidency in the Second as it was not only the passage of the resolution on independency that the United States existed. I woukd hold they Peyton was but President of the United Colonies, not that they were very united. However, it depends on how one measures what it means to be a state. One could argue that in raising an army to fight the Crown and dispatching diplomats to London, the United Colonies was acting as a state.

I do not know what "several groups" of people to which you are referring, but it appears they would be an example of the people that a person being evaluated would be upset by if they found out about those people doing the evaluating. I know that I would.
