Compact DVR Camera Pen

I wanted to try video shopping. I bought a QPen 16 Compact DVR Camera Pen from a MSC scheduler suggestion. This scheduler said that it works well. I have been practicing with it on non video shops. For some reason, it only video records for 10 minutes. Does anybody else have this particular video equipment? If so, is there a way to change the setting for the video recording timing?

I would be interested in knowing what company and scheduler recommended this item. As far as I know none of the MSCs I work for would accept video from it.

Sure. You can say anything you want as long as you don't mention an MSC and client at the same time.

Like BG posted, you can name the MSC. You just can't discuss their clients in the same thread.
Schedulers are not infallible. I have had several give me some bad information, like one who told me I only had to report income from companies when I earned more than $600 in a year from them. It was not malicious, they were honestly misinformed. The scheduler who suggested this pen needs to have someone correct him or her so they don't continue to give bad advice.

It was Ellis {EPMS}, they do apartment shops. They even sent another email about needing some video shops done for apartments and had a link to purchase the same DVR camera pen that I have.
Interesting. I refuse to work for them so makes sense that I've never heard of such.

Also interesting that they were allowing shoppers to "borrow" video equipment at one point, which would have been a great way to start using and getting a feel for it without shelling out the big bucks. I assumed it was the standard button camera equipment they were lending. Considering it could take about 45 minutes to video an entire apartment shop, I am baffled why they would recommend something that only was good for 10 minutes or so. Hmmm.
For them to let you use their equipment, you have to do so many shops for them first. They do have apartment shops that don't need video taped.
If it's the QPen 16 I looked up, it has 16 GB internal memory and says it's good for up to 1.5 hours of video (WTF? It only records at 720P). Please, please tell me the LED doesn't come on when it's recording.

Maybe the OP got stuck with a lemon. It's also possible it's full and there's already footage on there that needs to be copied elsewhere and the space on the pen reclaimed.

It's $20. Are you surprised there would be a lemon?

Fascinating.... I do a ton of work for Ellis - including video. I have always used a PV500 for them. All their instructions assume the use of the PV500 - including detailed instructions on how to fix a shirt to use the button camera. I would be very hesitant to use something else.

At the same time, as of this month, they have stopped offering the $10 bonus for using your own equipment for audio recorded shops - video, too, I think. Could they be looking for more economical ways to get their shops completed?

I also vaguely remember hearing a different MSC suggesting the use of different video equipment - which surprised me as the quality would be much lower. (I'd name it here, but I'm only about 75% sure I remember correctly and don't wish to introduce false information.)

Are you sure it doesn’t record in 10 minute increments resulting in multiple 10 minute files?

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
That is something that many of the less expensive video gadgets do. Time to look for more segments of your video ?

Heck my HD PV500 only records in 10 minute segments. And it certainly wasn't "less expensive."

A few years back, I accepted eight jobs at Fazoli's for a now defunct MSC. Unfortunately, my PV-500 failed the morning of the first stop. I contacted the company and promptly received a loaner, but a different model that recorded retrograde in 31 second files. $320 and eight meals were lost. Hopefully, the chap who repaired mine is still active, he lives in either VA. or N.Car., and I am not in the position of needing to embrace a new technology. I am not against change, BUT, only if there is a benefit, and I fail to understand why anyone would desire to record in 31 second files that are reversed.

They still lend video equipment, but they stop lending the shirt.

I don't think I would want to wear a shirt that other shoppers had been wearing...plus people come in so many different sizes I can't imagine how that worked very well. I guess they had a bunch of different styles/sizes of shirts?
They all used to loan the shirts. Many sizes, wild prints, and all dry cleaned between users.

I think it does record in 10 minute increments. I just don't know how that would work very well.
What resolution are you shooting in?
