Texas Roadhouse

What's wrong with this shop? I would think it would be popular but apparently not because every month I am flooded with begging emails. I have never done it, never planned to do it, mostly because I don't like eating out that much and the sight of all that rare meat on everyone's plate makes me nauseous.
I am just curious why the other shoppers in my area aren't jumping on it.

Good question. I've never done it either but some of my route shopping friends pick them up whenever they can. Apparently it's an easy report.

There are two locations in my area. Shops for one tend to linger for quite a while before getting picked up. The other never gets picked up. I love a good steak, so I'm happy to pick up the shop when I'm able. It's not a moneymaker, obviously, but it's a free date night. smiling smiley

It's hard to eat for two there for $35, and there is no fee. You can eat at the reimbursement, but not a steak. I order something for $12.00, but my husband will always order a steak, so figure $20.00 and $6 for drinks, and we are at $38, then tax and tip. It costs money to go there.
The shop is not too bad but is reimbursement only. For us we always spend more than the reimbursable amount.
Pick this shop up on a route wherever I can. (The bar one as it can be done solo)
Decent food, that meets my no sugar diet needs, and a report that can be done in 5 min is nice when I'm tired. I usually get the fillet salad, very filling.
It's shopped once a week in the dining room plus once a week at the bar, so at least 8 different shoppers a month are required. The appetizer is optional, and it is possible to stay within the reimbursement, but I don't worry about it. The bill for my husband and I usually is just over the reimbursement, plus the tip. The report takes about 10-15 minutes, and there is not that much to remember. Not a money maker, but I like their salads and bread.

You probably won't get anyone to reply to you on this. The forum rules, and usually the contracts with the MSCs do not permit naming the MSC when the client has already been identified. It's one or the other. If the MSC is mentioned the client cannot be mentioned, and vice versa. Since the client has been mentioned the MSC cannot be named.

Your best bet is to sign up with more companies. See the link at the bottom of the website for a great list.

I always try to go WEDNESDAY night. That's 6/8 oz. (I think it varies by restaurant, which size is discounted) sirloins for $9.99.

Our bill looks like:
$9.99 sirloin + two sides
$9.99 sirloin + two sides
$4.99 fried pickles
2 waters
.......$28.00-ish pre-tax
$34.oo-ish post tax

Under reimbursement with 2 steak dinners, appetizer, and lots of bread.

As for me, I much prefer the bar shop @ $25 reimbursement. I can eat my fill + have enough to take home for my following morning's breakfast. My typing speed is only moderate, so the report for me is approx. 25 minutes. With six locations either near my house or travel, I am a regular Roadhouse diner.
The rotation is 3 months. That prevents shoppers from returning. I do the bar shops because they are under reimbursement.

They have one down the street from me. I did it once and never again. The bar shop is $25 reimbursement no fee, the dinner shop is $35 reimbursement no fee. I'm not doing a shop like that unless I really like the food. And even if I did, I still would have to think about it because to eat comfortably you would have to come out of pocket, and I do MS for profit or to save money on something I would have done anyways.. This shop does neither for me.
So, what's wrong with it is 1st, the rotation, the ones who would do it all the time can't. Second, the inadequate reimbursement keeps some other who would do it from it.

Thanks for enlightening me!
I have shopped the Texas Road House many times. I think they need to go up on the reimbursement, barely covers the cost if at all. If your not a meat eater I would not do the shop. The report is easy.

Ahh...no you dont and you will thank me later.
When I do the shop, I ask for a bonus in the beginning of the month, Also, I order an appetizer and a house wine. This way, I'm able to leave a healthy tip.

I always do the bar shop. I can get seated right away and faster service. I can usually stay under reimbursement or a few cents over, which I don't mind since the report is so easy. I view it as saving money on dinner. Love their margaritas.

Most of ACL's comparable category restaurants are $45-$50. I do wish TXRH would reimburse to $40-45 at least, but I still take them whenever I can. *shrug* Probably why they won't go higher, b/c of ppl like me who love the place. Sorry to you all. smiling smiley

They don't pay till late in the month. I like the food, but not enough to do it for free when I can get paid by waiting.
I love the place and dined on my own dime before I ever did the shops. The food is great. I normally do the Bar shop and $25 for one person who does not drink gives me a wide array of options. So I get a soda and the most expensive meal if I want is like $21. Figure $26 after tax plus $5 tip so $31. I get $25 back easy report and great meal for $6 and that's if I choose for the most expensive option everything else fully reimbursed. I do occasionally get the bonus money which means I get paid too. I don't do many restaurants shops but this is one of the few I do.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I used to do them a lot. The report is easy peasy, and it's easy to come in under reimbursement if you try. But I haven't been for a long time now. I guess the main reason is the menu gets boring after a while. It's just variations of meat and potatoes, for the most part, and the novelty wears off. Another reason is the one-hour minimum requirement. The service is fast, so I usually spend the last 10-15 minutes watching the clock. But I might still do them in the future if I ever get the urge for large portions of meat.

45 min. now! - new guidelines

I think it's an hour in the dining room and 45 minutes at the bar. If I am done before 45 minutes, I nurse my ginger ale and munch on peanuts while watching the main TV.
In another discussion about the Texas Roadhouse a few months ago, someone mentioned the grilled salmon. That is my favorite dish at the moment.

i did reg. dining room recently and my guidelines said 45 min.

i left after 51 min. i think
I get the ribs appetizer or something from the early bird special. I only do the bar.

I like the ribeye. I only do the bar shop, and only when hubby is out of town and I don't want to cook.
The only ones that ever get bonused around here are the bar shops. I haven't done one, but might try one. Rotation is an issue, plus, as others note, it's hard to stay under the reimbursement if you want a nice dinner. I don't mind being out of pocket on it, but when our sons come with us, I have to nag at everybody to be frugal.

But it's a nice way for all four of us to have a tasty meal and not pay a fortune for it.
