It depends on where you are. In NYC area, your meal would cost more than $15; nearly $17 if you order cheese on your burger.
They won’t do anything about the price. I’m gonna start ordering a sandwich that’s cheaper since they don’t want to pay for the full burger costs

I work for cash so I make it a point to stay under reimbursement. If I want a cheeseburger, I have to switch the reimbursement and fee in my spreadsheet to make them balance.

Talking about sticking to the veggie sandwich to stay under budget; it has 440 calories, 15 grams of fat, and 1040 mg of sodium. I stopped buying the veggie sandwich because I thought since it was "veggies" it would be better for me and a healthy alternate.
Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I had noticed this on my last shop. Even if I got the Veggie I'd still be over. I now just wait until they call or one comes up with the higher fee.
They are staying on the board here a lot longer than they have in the past, I assume for this reason, so my thinking is the reimbursement will go up because the MSC will get worn out constantly paying $20+ fee per shop.
But then again, with this MSC you never know

Probably not. I've inquired about this, also, weeks ago. I'm more concerned that this MSC doesn't pay a fee to do grocery stores and Big Lots. Even with high gas prices, they still seem to think shoppers are anxious and willing to work for nothing.
That's the bun. The fat and sodium come from the cheese. If you want the healthiest option, go with a bowl, no cheese.

Only one question on the report specifically asks about burgers.
I told the MSC that the low reimbursement is not enough to cover a decent meal. They said they do not set the price, the client does. That has to out us.

The only time I will eat at that place is when I doing a shop. Too pricey for me for a burger. $7 burger and an order of small fries are $4, no thanks.
I only take the shop with a bonus, so there are a few more bucks to cover the meal that I want.
I complained about this years ago and no change. So I only do these when they are well bonused.

In my experience if you wait them out a little, Big Lots will eventually get a fee. In my high-population area (Long Island) it admittedly usually isn't big enough to do it unless it's a "stocking stuffer" in a geographical cluster with other shops I'm doing (although I was shocked to pull in a $20 fee on one here about a month ago -- rare!). I also have ties to North Carolina which I visit a lot and have gotten some surprisingly handsome bonuses for BL down there and in Virginia on the way to or fro. Yeah, my policy is, if I'm getting a sizable bonus I'll "donate" the $1.75-ish overage that is typical of a burger order in my area, and give them the burger review they want. If I take one with a modest bonus, all bets are off, I order veggie sandwich or grilled cheese and stay within reimbursement.@Plarka wrote:

As a self-employed IC, merely pass on shops that do not compensate you in an acceptable manner. If the fee is too low, the reimbursement too little, the report too long and/or the pay too slow in arriving, simply apply for work that meets your requirements.

$13.67 in my area for the little hamburger with small fries and drink. Husband asked why I didn't get the 2 patty cheeseburger (we usually split that) and I just said it was economics. We have cheese at home. Shop fee will cover the extra 92 cents, if you want to look at it that way.
Does anyone know if there's a difference between getting a grilled cheese and adding all the toppings you want and getting a veggie sandwich with cheese? They sound like the same thing, but the veggie sandwich option is 50 cents more in my area.
Just a little semi secret but extra cheese and extra bacon are free . You do pay for the initial bacon and cheese. This is for those who are not concerned about eating healthy or the overage on a shop. I look at it as shop fee plus $12.75 minus cost of meal equals what you make for the shop. This determines what I would need for the shop so if what I want is a meal that costs $18. I would need an additional $5.25 in that case on top of what I need in pay for the shop. So if I need $20 pay I would need to see $25.25 pay.
Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
You have to wait until there is a Fee that is high enough to cover what the reimbursement does not cover. The fee should give you extra dollars after you pay for the required orders. Otheriwse, it's not worth doing it, considering gas is not over $4.50/gallon now.

I'm in Oklahoma. Most things are pretty cheap but i can't get out of five guys doing a shop for under $16. So, nyc or small town usa, five guys just thinks too highly of themselves.
At my local FG, I am able to get a regular fries and large drink with the veggie sandwich and stay under reimbursement. I did one last week where I would have been able to get the large fries and only gone over by around 50c, buy didn't need enough fries to feed a family of four! So I got the veggie sandwich with cheese instead, so I spent closer to the max.@Tarantado wrote:

And I almost never do a shop for under $25. the minimum I will do is $22.

I get a burger once in a blue. Since it is occasional, I will use the fee for the reimbursement and vice versa.

Maybe if none of us order a Burger, but only ordered a veggie burger, a hot dog, or other lesser cost but acceptable item, it will send a message to the client that their reimbursement does not cover a burger. The guidelines do say that the client prefer we order a burger since that is their signature product, and they want us to critique it.
Just wanted to make it clear that it is not a veggie burger. It is a sandwich with veggies. Basically a burger, hold the meat.@ShopperFun99 wrote:

I am roughly equidistant from three different FG stores. Each one has different prices (all are in NJ, so same sales tax). At one of them, I can order a hot dog, Little Fries, and a small drink and be under the budget, but not at the other 2. At one location in Delaware (the Home of Tax-Free Shopping), I can order a Little Burger, Little Fry, and Regular drink and stay just under budget.
