Any experience with shifting to PayPal direct deposit payment from MSC after previously being paid to Paypal (non-Direct Deposit)?

scenario: You were previously paid by an MSC via PayPal and then switched to being paid to PayPal's direct deposit account, from same MSC.

I am interested in several elements of the experience.
1) Did you make the switch via the payor/MSC profile, or via the setup of Direct Deposit within the PayPal system?
2) Was there any disruption, in terms of receiving payment near previously received schedule? Delay? Hoop-jumping?

I haven't done it but I am curious why this would be preferable over choosing an actual bank for your direct deposits? I set up a secondary checking account to avoid giving MSCs access to my primary account but I feel better about a bank's security than PayPal's.
1) You most likely have to do it via the MSc profile because as far as I understand...The paypal email base system and the Paypal Debat system requires two different sets of information. One only needs your email address, and one needs a routing number and account number.
2) Not sure, Ive never done it before

Depends on what banking you choose majority of physical banks will require a minimum daily balance on top of direct deposit in order to avoid monthly fees. Of course you can dodge that by going online banking route such as capital one bank, discover banks, chime etc but those generally are less convivence. And many people who does SS are most likely have paypal and have been using paypal for years already. So why spend time opening another bank account and giving out your SSN yet one more time when I can make use of what I already have instead of downloading and managing another account as if I don't have too many accounts sitting around already?
Most MSCs that I work with do not offer DD to a bank account. They only use Paypal.
Sestra,

Customer impact just sent out an email that they are eliminating Paypal as a payment option and are forcing folks to move to DD or prepaid debit cards that have routing and account numbers. I've never done any work for them but I still received the email.

Although, it now occurs to me that this may be a scam. Since it doesn't affect me, I didn't look at it that closely.

I just checked Customer Impact;s login page and the message about eliminating Paypal is on there so it must be legit.

Thanks DRJ. I did get an email but never opened it because they only do merchandising. I'm still on their list from when they did MS.

I would not shed a single tear if all MSCs went to DD. Cut out the middleman and all the data mining that comes with it.
This month's payment from Customer Impact to me went right into my bank account. It's not a scam.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
Several companies that I work for do only direct deposit. I do the PayPal direct deposit that is being discussed in this thread.
It works perfectly.
The setup is no different than for any other direct deposit.
You fill out whatever needs to be filled out through the MSC with the voided check or whatever form they require.
I encountered no delays or glitches.
You actually get paid the night before the promised payment date in many cases.
I did have to hunt on the PayPal site for the routing number and account number, but it wasn't all that bad.

You missed Varo, the one I picked for this purpose. I picked that one because no fees but it also gave me the visa debit card I wanted along with insulation for my primary account. They even have free ATM access near me.

I know too many people who have had their PayPal accounts locked up for months and had to fight to regain access when they did nothing wrong and ultimately are found to be innocent of fraudulent activity where their involvement was presumed. They got NOTHING for their troubles other than regaining access to their funds. Not even interest for the time PayPal held their money without cause. That's the problem with allowing funds to be sent to you by someone who has nothing but your email address. At least if I get a fake check in the mail, I can just decide not to attempt to cash it. PayPal decides for you then blames you for their decision.
I have 4 total checking accounts, with several banks, I got paid $$$ to open each of the accounts, I just never closed them, because I use them. I did close one of the checking accounts so that I could open a savings account, that I also got paid to open. I do direct deposit from MSC's with one account, I make my car payments with another account, one account I keep for the express purpose to doing pizza shops, and automatic payments that I don't want to make twice, or don't know if I want to make twice.

I regularly shop for only 2 companies that do direct deposit in my checking account, the rest go to Paypal and the money is transfered out of Paypal within minutes of getting the notification that I've been paid.
Today I updated my Sassie profile to get the direct deposit to my paypal debit card account. I do have DD for one or two other companies, like RQA, but I generally like the layer of protection I feel by having it route to paypal instead of having my banking info stored in Sassie.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. I am interested in your Sassie experience with it, in terms of timeliness.

Making the update in Sassie takes a minute or so. I don't believe they will start the direct deposit till January, so time will tell.

Nor does it really matters now that their biggest project has ended.....
Much like those so-called "surcharge fees" (ATM fees, etc), IMO, it shall only be a matter of time before PayPal and their clones begin instituting their own fees.
I've always liked the DD that companies began. But, I suppose, they could also begin adding their own fees (for DD) on top of the other fees that they currently impose on their customers.
And so, I shall continue with the PayPal method. I'll also continue to ignore the "Phishing" schemes such as the Emails advising that I can view the month's PayPal account by simply clicking the link.
Uh, no, I am a creature of habit - I go to my PayPal account's site and check my account on a daily basis.
If and when the fees are announced, I'll certainly move along.

I received direct deposit to my PayPal two days early from customer impact. No issues.

Same
Why do people give out the SSN to a MSC? That is fraud waiting to happen.

Personally, I am not a fan of PayPal. I want it all deposited into my business account. I just don't get the appeal of PayPal.
Many MSCs require that you give them your SSN regardless of how much money they will be sending you. There are a few that will wait until you get "close" to the $600 threshold for them to report your income to the IRS before they insist on getting an SSN before assigning you more work. I believe that PayPal requires an SSN from the start, but it has been so many years since I started using PayPal, so I might be wrong about them.

I believe Dino means why don't shoppers use a TIN instead of SSC....
All mystery shopping companies accept a TIN

I did, but there was an additional step and form required that wasn’t mentioned in the MCS’s description. I informed them so others wouldn’t have to experience the same frustration.
Once the additional form was complete everything unfolded seamlessly.
What is the 'additional step/form?'
