I haven't done it but I am curious why this would be preferable over choosing an actual bank for your direct deposits? I set up a secondary checking account to avoid giving MSCs access to my primary account but I feel better about a bank's security than PayPal's.
You missed Varo, the one I picked for this purpose. I picked that one because no fees but it also gave me the visa debit card I wanted along with insulation for my primary account. They even have free ATM access near me.@kisekinecro wrote:
Depends on what banking you choose majority of physical banks will require a minimum daily balance on top of direct deposit in order to avoid monthly fees. Of course you can dodge that by going online banking route such as capital one bank, discover banks, chime etc but those generally are less convivence. And many people who does SS are most likely have paypal and have been using paypal for years already. So why spend time opening another bank account and giving out your SSN yet one more time when I can make use of what I already have instead of downloading and managing another account as if I don't have too many accounts sitting around already?

Today I updated my Sassie profile to get the direct deposit to my paypal debit card account. I do have DD for one or two other companies, like RQA, but I generally like the layer of protection I feel by having it route to paypal instead of having my banking info stored in Sassie.
Hope that helps!

Thanks. I am interested in your Sassie experience with it, in terms of timeliness.

Making the update in Sassie takes a minute or so. I don't believe they will start the direct deposit till January, so time will tell.

Why do people give out the SSN to a MSC? That is fraud waiting to happen.

Many MSCs require that you give them your SSN regardless of how much money they will be sending you. There are a few that will wait until you get "close" to the $600 threshold for them to report your income to the IRS before they insist on getting an SSN before assigning you more work. I believe that PayPal requires an SSN from the start, but it has been so many years since I started using PayPal, so I might be wrong about them.

I did, but there was an additional step and form required that wasn’t mentioned in the MCS’s description. I informed them so others wouldn’t have to experience the same frustration.
Once the additional form was complete everything unfolded seamlessly.
