What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Alieda have fun smiling smiley

I was planning to go to church this morning and we have a friend scheduled to come over for dinner... but my step-dad hurt his back a couple days ago, yesterday my mom had to take him to urgent care because he could hardly move. My mom has to work today and she may have to work late so we are possibly skipping church and cancelling on our friend. My step-dad may need us to go over there and cook for him (and take care of his dog).

No alarm this morning! Am about to bake cinnamon rolls to go with my coffee. Later: laundry; shampoo with deep conditioning; a little kitchen clean-up; deciding what to pack for 5 days in Las Vegas; cleaning up my desk after two hectic, rather messy, months of shop reports and route planning.

Oh, also have been coming home to dead critters in the mousetraps, ugh. I bribe the neighbor's kids with Pringles and Butterfingers (from convenience store shops) to dispose of them and reset the traps, LOL. The last couple of varmints must be smart or just very small because they licked the peanut butter off without getting caught. I hate killing them, though...but it's worse thinking about them running around my house and possibly getting into my food, ugh!
JAS, about 6 weeks ago hubby and I caught 2 small mice in traps. Freaked me out! Checked under my kitchen sink, and the pipe coming up from under the house had absolutely NO border around it and the wooden floor, exposing a good 1/2" opening all around the pipe! HELLO! Come on in, mice!! Sheesh!! Not sure how the hard plastic border wore down, but it was gone. So I stuffed several SOS pads around the opening so that there is now no longer any space around that pipe! (I've read somewhere where mice don't like biting into steel wool pads). I also set up 3 mouse traps in the house, just in case....with peanut butter on them! BUT......NO MORE MICE so far!!! YAY!! I'm starting to actually believe that we've got it under control!! I hate killing anything, too, but the risk of infection from the mice is just too much for me!!
I started putting peanut butter on top of the little metal thingy and underneath it as well when I set the traps and it works, the little ones are getting their heads squished (gross). The neighbor kids are sick of Pringles and Butterfingers and are now just disposing of them out of kindness. Maybe I can pick up a PJ's shop for the next few dead 'uns. I can't touch them. My husband is still out of town and I just will not touch a dead mouse. Ew. Yuk.
My son and I have dentist appointments this morning (it will be his very first dentist appointment). My step-dad is still in a lot of pain so after the dentist I'll drive him to the doctor and my husband will take my son to visit the grandparents (hubby's dad and step-mom). Tonight we will go to my mom's house to carve pumpkins and watch the Broncos game.
Well, I was a bit lazy yesterday, so today has to include catching up with personal/household stuff. Manicure, folding laundry and storing, kitchen tidying and organization, 2 hour eye doc appt,, charity shop donation drop, November budget planing, trying to lock down MS route for Nov. 18-22.

I have a lot of work to do for Bible study in thew morning because I have be so ill lately I have not stay up , so I am playing catch on both of my studies .
Taking care of some left over business, paying bills, getting closer to renting out my room to a student, as I retire more and more from MSing, at least in my mind, but, still doing restaurants in my town and a couple health care assignments + Robeck's and fun stuff without making $$. I have always done reimbursement only when I like the restaurant, regardless of what you read from others than myself. Making skin Dr. appt. to ice off bothersome stuff. Busier than ever, oh yes, have a source grocery later today, and a Ross Wed. Nice to not have to drive the freeway.....

Had my yearly checkup today.....with me being a breast cancer patient (mastectomy/chemo/radiation 2014), I'm always careful to bring up anything that is out of the ordinary. So I mentioned this pain/cramping I've been having for the past 3-4 months on the left side of my abdomen to my FNP. I'm 12 years menopausal, but it sometimes feels like that ovulation pain I used to get. I also have a history of PCOS, so it could be that. So the prudent this is to get an abdominal ultrasound, which is in the works. Also, there is an ever-so-small "lump"/"nodule" on the left side of my neck, where the thyroid gland is. So, blood drawn for TSH. I see my oncologist is a couple of weeks, and he has LOTS of labs done on me, including a more detailed TSH panel, so we'll see where this all goes! One day at a time!! And I am in my Lord's hands, so that is always calming!
Hubby turned 60 this year, so it was time for another colonoscopy. I was his designated driver.

Sigh. Last night the 34 year old refrigerator in the basement apartment died. Fortunately, it did not wait until I would be out of town for 5 days, later this week. Soooo, off to the nearby Sear Outlet Store to buy a new, much more energy efficient refrigerator. New housemate moves in the evening of Nov. 1. This morning, bidding a fond farewell to our 3 month basement lodgers who are returning to Japan after their research visit to the National Archives.

Thirty four years is a nice run for an appliance. Sadly, in my experience anything you buy now won't last that long.

The original Kenmore washer made it 32 years and the original Kenmore dryer is still going strong! Wow! Refrigerator prices have gone up a lot since I last managed apartments and rental homes a few years ago!

Wales, your home life sounds like mine lately., and yes, 34 years is a long time, now days appliances are built to last 10/12 years. I recently bought a new fridge at Best Buy,, no delivery charge, took old one,
and no interest for a year, warranty same as Sears, plus rewards points. I buy everything there.
Today, Goodwill run, getting rid of summer stuff, talk of sprinkles, cooking, playing Candy Crush
and catching up on another site I'm on......

Well, I've been working on making a "Quiet Bag" for my 2 yr old granddaughter, from a canvas tote. Today I found the iron-on letters I want to put on the bag. I'm also sewing on some colored buttons, and placing some cute stickers of various sorts on each side of the bag. Then I've got lots of age-appropriate stuff to put in the bag, so she can occupy her time while she's with mommy and daddy, either at church, or the drs office, or anywhere she needs to play quietly. I'm NOT a creative person, so I'm SO surprised how well this is coming along!!! Going to take it to her 2 yr old B/D party in about 10 days.

ETA: AARrrrrggghhh! I can't believe this!! Went to start ironing on the letters for my grandbaby's "Quiet Bag"...using a few letters I won't need and practicing on an unused tote bag....Wouldn't you know it!! My iron has JUST DIED!!! It wouldn't get hot....then it started sputtering and had bright flashes coming out of the cord where the cord goes into the iron!! SOOooooo.....looks like I'll be getting a new iron this week! I'm just glad that it died in plenty of time to get another one, so I'll have time to iron on these letters and finish decorating the bag the way I want to!

Two new-to-me shops. They are similar to other shops that I have done in the past, but the emphasis is slightly different. They are conveniently located near one of my fave stores, and I will pick up a few things that I personally need. In the back of my mind is a creative process. I need to prop open my eyelids with something less sharp than toothpicks. So... what might that be?

I hope that everyone's health remains well or improves! For a few days, people have been experiencing assorted difficulties. Best wishes for all of you and yours! smiling smiley

Okay, so last month it was dentists and doctors, this month it's appliances (small and large). Please keep the malfunctioning appliances to a minimum, folks, and don't let it be contagious!!!!

On a serious note, I am going to clean my house tonight when I get back from doing shops since my husband will be home (finally, after over 6 weeks of being out of town working storm claims). Guess I had better hit the grocery store in the morning. I have to go to calling hours tomorrow for his elderly aunt who passed away earlier this week. I don't know if he will be back in time from his long trip to make the calling hours, as he is 10 hours away.

So, your telling us to keep our problems to a minimum, I suggest you do the same.....just sayin. I'm done here.

We are expecting a freeze here so harvested the rest of the herbs from the herb garden. Basil, oregano, and parsley went in the dehydrator. The mint went in a jar filled with vodka to make homemade peppermint extract. Should be ready just in time for Christmas where it will get used in homemade peppermint patties, peppermint candy cake, peppermint cookies, and peppermint ice cream. Also made a fresh batch of chai tea concentrate for chai lattes.

You make peppermint ice cream?!?!?!?!?!

That is so goooooood! It is wonderful alone, in, and on... And now I am drooling. Do you put in hot chocolate?

I'm taking my son to his swimming lesson this morning. This afternoon I'm taking him to an appointment to get fitted for new shoes. He was born with clubfeet, they have corrected them but he still wears braces at night to keep his feet from reverting back to the clubbed position.
Work, one MS, worked on Thanksgiving grocery list. It's small since my daughter is hosting, but I always get a request to make my mom's pumpkin pie. Packing list for conference, it's been a while since I made a trip longer than 2 days.
House tasks, merch. tasks, mini road trip into the wide open spaces. Watching the/a bunny who stops by once in awhile to be cute and play on the lawn. It is too cold to stay on the porch and do my bunny watching, but I can see through the windows. Long live bunnies and wide open spaces!

Just ordered a grinder attachment for the mixer. Quite excited!
Also Best Buy has the Kitchen Aid grinder attachment with the large tray and the sausage stuffer kit on sale for $30 today if anyone is interested.
