What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My laundry is upstairs near the bedrooms (I've had it both places) and like it upstairs. Sheets, towels, clothes all upstairs works best for me, insteading of having to carrying that heavy stuff downstairs, then returning it upstairs.
My house is 15 years old and seeing many new models find that is the trend. When we built our home, it was close to the kitchen, and a real schlep for me. I prefer not carrying clothes through the house.

Mum, have you checked out Wayfair online for furniture? There is some assembly required, but my husband was able to put the stuff I ordered together. It's pretty good quality for the price.

I just read your post JAS. We finalized everything today with Carson's Pirie Scott. Got a great deal on a combo. Dining table, buffet/server, sectional couch (powered) and a coffee table. We were always doubtful whether we were going to stay longer here so we never made a serious investment in furniture. Everything was from IKEA /Craigslistand not very costly. We were really happy today. Entertaining ppl would not be a hassle. Thank you though! I wish I had read your post earlier. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

PS : My husband is a weird creature. Can you imagine, we bought a house four years ago but apparently buying furniture would be a serious investment!! Men, I tell you. He tells me very seriously "See, now we have a our Green card, I think we can buy good furniture". Meanwhile me...Rolling my eyes...

My laundry room is in the garage. I love it being there because when I turn on the dryer in the winter it makes the garage warm and also smells good from the fabric softener sheets. And the garage is right off the hallway outside of our bedroom so it's very convenient.
I have today off. I'm staying in bed until noon, then I'm going to make a salad. After that, I'm going back to bed and binge watching something.

Happy Holiday and Respected Day to all! I had a dream.. that forum posts could be multi-colored... persons are multi-colored, after all... but I [according to some thug or other] undoubtedly digress and therefore should have stopped myself before pointing out that our posts can be even more colorful than our skins, our hair dyes, our cosmetics... (with apologizes to MLK & Les Mis)

... And, this is a day off for me. It is the last one for months. I slept late-- until 6 AM.That is downright decadent in my world. I have tiny plans: to watch a movie, read a real book, and make some progress on a project. I have not specified how much progress. I will be thrilled with a little bit of it. The Inner Perfectionist Wanted It Done Yesterday. I wanted to take a nap between jobs yesterday. Take That, Inner Perfectionist!!!!!

I took my day off yesterday because I have to work today to make up for days lost to the early month freezing and gale force winds. Just a thought.... monuments in stone do not truly represent a person who was always moving forward!

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
After I finish reading the Forum, I have 3 loads of clothes to wash, and my back exercises to do. Later tonight, I'll make some turkey burgers. That's about it for me today!
Waiting for car all day and cannot spend another total day home,so will hop a ride to the mall with my renter, check out the new spring clothes, have lunch somewhere, go to SB and read while indulging in a latte, although I may pop into Dunkin Doughnuts which just opened a nice store here (first) and have almond milk lattes for 1.50 and comfortable leather chairs.....

I have spent the day shoveling snow and ice. The snow had a nice layer of ice under it, so after I got the snow up I waited an hour and then was able to get the ice up, mostly. Unfortunately some of it has melted and is water, and is currently in the process of refreezing. Also it's begun snowing again. If there is another inch before dark I'll go get it up and then shovel the balcony to keep too much weight off of it. Another non-treadmill day.
It's going to melt here this weekend (mid to high 40s for 3 days) so I am not going to bother scraping up the ice, LOL.
Washing sheets, pillowcases, and pillows. Trying to think of a yummy concoction for lettuce wraps. Thinking spicy blackened shrimp, avocado, red onion, cream cheese...I saw a recipe online that called for cilantro and a slaw to go in it but I don't have that stuff around and I don't plan on going anywhere. Also making crab stuffed mushrooms and I have that one down to a science. Now just to figure out which wine to open for that.
The lettuce wraps turned out great. I ended up using sushi rice cooked with rice wine vinegar in them. I put a small amount of rice, then the blackened shrimp, cream cheese, sliver of avocado, then sprinkles of toasted black sesame seeds on top before rolling them up. Next time I think a lime juice, soy sauce and honey drizzle before wrapping might be good.
Wow those sound amazing. I"ll be spending today doing snow removal. 5 more inches here so far and 4 more hours of snow still to go. I seriously don't have energy for anything else. It's all consuming and exhausting. I just flop in my recliner and watch tv when not shoveling snow.
I work with my kids today, have a Bible study for tomorrow to do , have the first week of a Beth Moore study tonight. Have two jobs to finish today. The reports are left to finish.
I am enjoying a little book of Russian proverbs. One of them found its way into my siggy. Many are common themes across all cultures. A few made me laugh out loud. Soon, I must prepare for upcoming assignments. After that, I will read whatever I want, just because I can.

Work and not much else. There is a tiny bit of ice on the road, and nobody here knows how to drive on it because we never get it. Everything is closed today.
I was at a fancy oil and vinegar store yesterday and bought a bottle of apple balsamic. SO good!

Today started off kind of bad. I found out that a friend from college died. We were around the same age (49). He died from an aortic aneurysm. The silver lining for me, I was able to reconnect with a lot of friends from college.

I had a candle shop at the mall today. I took it as much for the ability to do some mall walking as for the low pay it gave me.

Honny, I'm so sorry for your loss. A ruptured aorta is such a dangerous thing! I have a friend who is 55 years old. About 2 months ago, her lower aorta ruptured, and she bled out twice while the medical personnel were putting the blood back in her! It was a very weird situation, where some old scar tissue from a previous surgery in her stomach area was just large enough to touch her lower aorta, and rubbed against it. Over time, the aorta weakened, and finally ruptured, and she bled into her stomach and out her mouth...now, she also has been a heavy smoker over the years, and I'm sure that also contributed to her weakened aorta. But she's still alive!!! The doctors put some sort of special stent where the rupture occurred, and so far, it's held! But she's very weak, and the doctors are not sure if she could survive another surgery right now if the stent does not hold. Just before this, by about 4 months, she underwent vulvar surgery for cancer removal, and then radiation. So she's in a rehab place right now, because she needs to gain her strength back. Sorry to rant, but the loss of your friend made me think of my friend who experienced this. The survival rate for this is like 15%, or something low like that.
Sorry honny, way too young, so sad.....
Did a bunch of important errands leaving house at 8.00. Cooking today, experimenting with a lactose free cheesecake (suggestions accepted). Since this milk free diet, started salvetating for cheesecake and saw lactose free cream cheese, and it's pretty good just had some on a bagel. Going to wash sheets, I now have four sheets instead of two.....guess I'll survive...smiling smiley

Work, quick trip to the grocery store, and trying to solve a problem. I have a huge fenced yard, over 1/2 an acre, and I have dogs and cats. Lots of cats. They get dumped, I start feeding them and rendering them childless. The dogs and cats have decided to get along now, and I'll put this the most delicate way I can - when the cats do their business the dogs have decided it's their new delicacy, as well as rolling in it. The dogs are inside as much as outside so I'm not happy about the new obsession. I want to fence some of the yard to separate them. I'm using cattle panels, bricks, and T-posts to keep it semi temporary so it can be moved easily. I'm trying to decide how big of an area and it needs to include one of the three entrances to the house. Sorry if this is too graphic, but it helps me to vocalize and sometimes gives me a better answer than what I have thought about. Aha - it just gave me another idea about location. Thank you for listening.

Irene, some years ago, when my son was trying to stay away from dairy, I used some dairy-free cream cheese in making desserts, and it was pretty good! This was back 10+ years ago, so I'm sure the quality/taste of these products has improved since then. I wish I could remember the name, but I'm sure you could google it. I was also wondering: could you substitute coconut milk for regular milk in the cheese cakes? I have no idea how that would turn out, but the thought crossed my mind, so I'm just throwing it out there.

ETA: You mentioned lactose free cream cheese...that must taste pretty good, too. But if you're looking to stay totally away from dairy to be truly milk-free, maybe the dairy free cream cheese might be an option for you.

Well, we got 4" of snow down here in my area of SC. So I had to reschedule one shop and another one I had for today had no other dates available, so the MSC cancelled it for me, with some kind words to be safe...that was nice!!

Anyhow, I've got a near-10 year old dog who is a mixed breed of half miniature basset and have lab! No fooling!! I saw his mama when he was just a pup, and she was a tiny thing!! Don't know how the lab was able to get involved here, winking smiley but...oh well! He doesn't have the basset ears...he got the lab ears. But his legs are so short!! Poor thing!! His body is fairly long but awfully stocky!! So he LOVES playing in the snow, so I took him out in the back yard a while ago, and let him run free for a few minutes! He went nuts!! Licking the snow, rubbing his snout in it, running for all it's worth with those short little legs of his! He had fun! But now....he came in and I think he remembered he's almost 10 years old, because he's plopped down on the couch taking a good nap now! haha!! But it was fun and enjoyable to watch him play in the snow today!
The name is "Green Valley Organics LACTOSE FREE cream cheese" and it is great. I'm not a fan of the taste of coconut milk, plus it has a lot of sugar in it, I use Almond Milk for everything needing milk. Making it today, will let you know, putting blueberries on top......I really don't miss milk, never liked it. Many choices today, a little more costly but worth it. I also buy Dannon lactose free yogurt, great for smoothies.

I finished two books, made a furniture decision (repurpose one piece and buy one piece), and tried out a new-to-me assignment. It did not feel like work; therefore, I included it here. Now, I am going to at dining room furniture. Wish me luck...
