What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My mom ended up drinking lactose free milk in her later years, because, while she enjoyed the milk, she couldn't tolerate the lactose in it. So she still had the milk, but without the issues caused by the lactose. She drank Lactaid. It was milk, but without the lactose.

Yup, I love Almond milk too, and drink it all the time...unsweetened, vanilla flavor.

I make coconut milk at home in the summers but it is a lot of work. The taste is however nothing compared to store bought milk. The store brands are more sweeter due to artificial ingredients but the homemade is delicious minus the sweetness.
It jas be a slow day had Bible study this morning , have supper in the slow cooker Scopped chicken, read a little. Tonight I will watch the Amazing race
All three of my boys were lactose intolerant when they were young (grew out of it somewhere between 4-5 years of age). Back then there was only one choice of milk on the dairy shelf, but you could buy drops and treat regular milk. I would mark the kid's gallon with a large black 'X', and always had to be careful about which one I used for which people.

Today, I was pleased to see on my log that the online shop I thought would ruin my record because the app may not be applicable to Canadian locations was marked 'completed.'

I had so many nice people assist me but today, four people tried to bypass me when I opened the door, practically pushing my walker because as one lady said, "I am in a rush." Two teenagers with cell phone on their ears were oblivious to the difficulty I was having with the door and tried to walk through my walker, and that was after my trip to the hospital. So I decided to forgo going to the grocery and instead cooked with the ingredients I had at home.

But one more good news was a substantial MSDirectD appeared on my account after more than 4 months away from mshopping.

The weather is getting better, I heard, so happy mshopping to all.
Sorry you had so many issues! Some people are just rude and self-absorbed. IMO, though, the nice ones outweigh them. I hope you're finding it to be the same.

Risinghorizon, life is too short for everyone to be in such a rush. I wish they would figure that out. Also, like Kathy wrote, some people are just rude and self-absorbed. And downright disrespectful.
Irene and Guysmom, my sister-in-law uses a cream cheese that is Tofu based called Tofutti and completely dairy free (she is vegan MOST of the time, LOL). I have had it on bagels when at her house and it's pretty good. It can be used in recipes and I just Googled it and saw some cheesecake recipes. BUT. It has some soy protein in it as well as the bean curd base, and I know some people are anti-soy. I personally don't have a problem with some soy and I like soybeans (edamame).
Jas.. I dislike Tofu with a passion, no flavor to me, picks up other flavors, I stay away from soy, but thx anyway.
I'm fine as you read in my post, I mentioned I found real cream cheese with the lactose removed, couldn't tell the difference.

I feel for you Irene. My youngest is allergic to lactose (true allergy, not digestive issues-- he gets hives and wheezing) but loves dairy. It has been a challenge finding some things. Glad you found the cream cheese!
Yes, I too, hate tofu. Didn't mean to make a rhyme out of it, LOL. But I like that particular spread as it does NOT taste like tofu. But if you are against soy completely than it's a no go. But I am glad you found something that works for you!
Mine is just lactose Intolerance, not a allergy which is worse....I was thrilled to find all the newer stuff now, so it's really not that difficult, I DO MISS ICE CREAM.....but am proud at the way I'm eating now, won't go into details,
results are good.....must be a big problem as more food has been taking lactose out. My fav is Dannon yogurt (lactose free), I make smoothies with this yogurt, banana, almond milk and berries your son will love it.

Happy Thursday! I am relaxing before ten days of uninterrupted work. There is just enough time to read, work out, and dust something.

Irene, don't lose heart about the ice cream....I've seen some lactose free stuff in one of my area grocer's freezer! So keep your eyes open!

JAS, yes, it was the Tofutti I used for my son back in the day. But I personally now try to stay away from anything with soy in it, since my breast cancer (2014) was estrogen positive. There are pros and cons on both sides as to whether soy in diet affects the estrogen in the body. But since I even have to take a pill to keep the estrogen clamped shut in the rest of my post-menopausal cells, I just stay away from the soy.
I've seen the lactose free ice cream, they charge 4.49, so unless I have a job, I don't buy it....but yes, its an alternative, certainly not like the real ones....I made a cranberry pound cake using almond milk, very good.

disclaimer - I have not tried any yet
I've seen recipes for "ice cream" made out of frozen bananas. Though I have not tried them yet, it's on my list. Didn't you get a Ninja or Magic Bullet recently? They would be powerful enough to make soft serve banana ice cream.

Anyway, these are the recipes I found that sounded good:

One of the things the blogger said (at top of article) that if you add some fat like from coconut milk it will taste even creamier like real ice cream.

Happy Friday! I have only two paid jobs today! I also have a huge project that will use all my "free" time for the next three days. Oh, well. It is all work...

Happy Friday to you to, Shop-et-al! Today I have a pizza shop which I'm turning into a 'date' lunch. The guidelines say I can only order for myself, but Hubby is coming along and buying his own food :-) Other than that I'm going to enjoy the sunshine and high temperature in the upper 40s, maybe taking a walk.

I put a very ripe banana out on the deck rail just to see if the birds or squirrels would eat it. I look out the window 10 minutes later, and there is a squirrel trying to drag this banana (that is longer than his body and probably half his weight) up a tree. Who knew. He dropped it a couple of times and then went back down to get it, finally getting it up to his nest or some stash place in the Norfolk pine. My stepdaughter says we (me and her dad) need to get out more, LOL. She thinks we are a little oddball for loving to feed and watch the wildlife out back. But that's what us old folks like to do!

haha cute...when I'm in my aging mode I'll go to this place with ducks and a gorgeous swan and they have feeding bins, for .25 you get a handful of Cherrio's and they gather around it;s fun but a banana is really funny.

I love frozen grapes too! I've never tried frozen watermelon but it sounds good. I am on a quest to find a recipe for a watermelon, feta, mint salad with either a balsamic glaze or a dressing with balsamic vinegar.

Wow! That does sound good. I've only had them plain.
