Took the car in to a local transmission shop to see if the "bucking" we feel is transmission related. I really, really, REALLY hate taking car into transmission shop, because they usually tell you that you need a new transmission. HOWEVER....this one has a 4.7/5 star rating, and many of the reviews state how the car owner was told that it was just a minor fix, around $200 or so, instead of a new transmission. So, we took the car there this morning. There's an outside chance it could also be coils wearing out, so depending on what the transmission check shows, we may have our mechanic check the coils, too. Car is a 2003 Crown Vic with 179,000 miles on it, but rides really well....except for this little "buck" which has been going on for a few months now. So, we'll see!!

Well, I DID get good news from the Transmission shop....nothing they could find related to the transmission!! But they did get "misfiring" on 3 of the 8 cylinders. So tomorrow the car is going to the mechanic, to see if he can figure out if it is from the plugs or the coils or whatever!! But at least no need for any transmission work. This place is HONEST....good to know if car needs transmission work. My mechanic is also SO honest!! He's been our mechanic for about 20 years now....we're all growing old together...haha!!
Driving the last leg of a three day drive to far, far NE Maine. Got news yesterday that the whales are playing in the bay off of the cabin that I will stay at. They do not always enter that bay, so my sister is securing seats on a whale/dolphin sightseeing boat. She called to ask if I was up for that. WHAT ? How could my sister doubt that ????

"Whales rule!"

That is a line from a kid's game. It fits wales' wonderful whale watching whoop-de-doo..

I noticed now they have a Savory Herbs powder. How is it? It almost sounds it would make a soup with hot water and some stewed tomatoes.

I love whale watching! I used to do it when I lived in Los Angeles. My ex and I would go to Monterrey to catch the boats. Our timing wasn't always right, but when it was, it was well worth the wait.

My grocery store food always ends up going bad. I end up better off doing food shops and spreading my portions out over a few days. This has worked well for me until I took a break in shopping. I went to the grocery store and spent about $45 for my salad ingredients. I didn't finish all of it in a week's time, so it gets returned for something fresh.

Counting down the work days until... at last... I am free to deal with projects. I pass them a few times a day. They just sit there, like lumps on logs, silent and inert. I would like to finish them before the end of the month.

Unfortunately the heat outside is such that besides shopping gas stations, all I do is come home and collapse like a wet dishrag into a recliner and watch tv or play with my phone.
Looking out on a large inlet of the Bay of Fundy, with an expected high temp today of 68F. When the tide comes in I will watch from my front deck to see if the same immature bald eagle returns to hunt for prey in the nearest tide pool, as he did for hours yesterday afternoon. I also need to figure out what form of lobster I will eat today. Yesterday was a lobster roll stuffed with almost a half pound of lobster. Maybe lobster stew today, since it may be quite chilly eating on a restaurant patio or deck here. Decisions, decisions! Sigh.

Adjusting to a new, fun schedule... The dates for a merch job were pushed back, leaving me with time tomorrow and Monday for...

a) more shops. my real-book-loving self will like that.
b) more rest at the hotel. my sleepy self will like that.
c) more touron things. my playful self will like that.

... and this is just fine with assorted aspects of me, even though it involves an extra work day this month. It will be fun now and more intensive later when I shoehorn the merch locations into one very long day. The original plan wod have spread all assignments over a logical loop and two days, with one fun thing to do sandwiched between jobs. Now, the plan is to keep the loop and fill it up with more work, fun, and/or sleep.

*eta*

Whew. I added just enough shops to get me to my monthly financial goal. I can relax! I can camp out once in awhile! I can take the rest of the month off from the job that is most efficient financially but hardest on my back. *Does a little happy dance and scurries away to throw a few things into a suitcase*

I decided to take today off from working in the heat so I am cleaning the refrigerator and then grocery shopping. Maybe dinner with the kids tonight or maybe we will do it tomorrow night. Whatever they decide.
I am looking for the items I need for my fair project. I am going food shopping nad getting readly for church tomorrow
I did one shop today. On the way I went through a shower and the temperature went from 95 to 76 in 15 minutes! Then right back to 95. Oh well, the 95 is better that the 100 plus we have had for 6 weeks. It is dry and brown everywhere except for small green patches here and there in yards. Went to the the store with my son so he could carry the dog food, cat food, and other heavy things. Stalked the forum, I read much more than I post. Trying a new crock pot recipe today. Missing my daughter, I did not get to see her much this summer. She worked as a camp counselor over the summer before starting her second year t college. I will see her soon for 4 days and than she's off to college again. I'm so proud of her.
In this weather even having the laptop on my lap is too much heat!

Have you thought about talking to your new pastor about how you feel? It seems a real shame for you to have to start looking for a new church home when you loved yours so much.
How did you like the new one?

I am getting paperwork ready for a new week of gas stations. Other than that I will clean the kitchen, do laundry, and I really really want to bake a giant 3 layer cake with gooey filling, home made frosting and some kind of candy topping. I'm not sure what the frosting is called but my mom used to make it by boiling sugar water to a certain temperature and then mixing it with beaten egg whites.
Watching weather, another heat wave starting tomorrow with 107%, today a mere 101, so getting a mani/pedi
and Lucille's BBQ for lunch which is in the mall......then home for report, relaxing. computer stuff. Lifetime movie and so on. Tonight who will Becca choose, been watching it, last show tonight.

Sounds right. Nowadays they would come up with some fancy name. I like it because it's not overly sweet. Not that it matters. I don't eat the cakes I just like to bake.

So this raises the obvious question......who gets to eat them? smiling smiley
