Honny, the majority of my closet comes from thrift stores (with some mystery shopping purchases thrown in). You can get some good things there!

Yes, HonnyBrown. Thrift stores and consignment stores sometimes have wonderful things. What you save by shopping there might help you to buy something that is only available elsewhere. Or, if the stars, moons, and/or donations align, you might get the expensive item for next to nothing at thrift.

Once, I was scolded for having "a $500 purse". Them: You should not have a $500 purse. Only a rich person can have one. You cannot have one. Did you hear me? You should not have a $500 purse! Me: *nods head, tries unsuccessfully to prevent eyes from glazing over* Mmm. I see.

I never told them how little I paid for a purse that may or may not have cost $500 retail. I merely mention this silliness so that you can prepare yourself for any backlash or assault regarding you good fortune.

I carry a Michael Kors handbag regular 300.00, bought at Marshall's (favorite), and paid 100.00. I have been shopping Marshall's since my daughter was born and before. Talking about good buys (better than consignment and new), a Macy's twelve hour sale, where I got a $78.00 top for 14.00 and a pair of tennis shoes for 11.00.....
beat that, just try.....Spring is here, everyone is getting rid of old stuff. Modeling for Macy's Saturday, may get to keep pants I choose.
This morning brought a coffee date, not bad and was asked out again.....

hope our President is watching, so heartfelt, all religions, colors, and his beautiful children. Hasn't been such a funeral since Michael Jackson's death. Hadn't heard of him not being a rap lover, but what a great role model.

I was raised to be proud of waiting, searching and finding bargains. My father had to start a business from scratch. We were never hungry or lacked essentials. But, like everyone in Milwaukee, we were always looking for good deals and outright bargains. When I was 4 and 5, it was a big adventure to take the bus with my mother into the city a few times a year. . The main Gimbels department store had a basement that was filled with wonderful bargains. Our family had a very tight budget and did not own a car until I was about 9 and my mother (later I) sewed all of my clothes, including coats, until I was in high school. . BUT, we had percale sheets and pillow cases, bought at closeout prices for less than muslin; very fluffy, plush towels and wash clothes (with no sense of "color match" or "sets") in a rainbow of colors; and a garden that produced fruits and vegetables that we canned for glorious winter meals. We knew when the local pharmacy had 100s of items on 1 cent sale (buy one, get a second for 1 cent).

AND, we were not alone; just about everyone in my semi-rural neighborhood swapped news about how and where to get the best for a LOT less. Our boyfriends were proud of finding bargain things to do for dates and no one thought the less of them. (Think "Buck Night" at the local drive-in. Double or triple date and the whole bunch piled into one car and saw a double feature for $1.)

No, I do not long for the "good old days" before polio and flu vaccines, Brown vs Board, energy efficiency consciousness, and all of the many civil rights movements! What I DO treasure are the things that I learned then that I did not need to "unlearn".

Weather has disrupted plans for an anticipated fishing trip. Oh, well. Eventually, we can do that.

Once I complete a VERY long hotel/spa/meals/bar/parking/bell service shop with 23 pages of questions, plus very detailed narratives, laundry and groceries.

Picking up steriod drops after visit with Allergist yesterday, eyes ichey and hurting as wind paid a visit again.
Many phone calls and stuff in house...thinking of accepting a dinner date or putting it off for after my SF trip
when there not so much going on and eyes are well again. Lucille's BBQ tomorrow night (work) and preparing for trip Tuesday.

Hubby is gone this weekend, so I'm having a great time doing what I want to when I want to!

Thanks to my Mom, I am very good friends with Goodwill! Most of my clothes are from there.

Efficient day! Woot!

The rest of today is for errands, tasks, a book, and 'lilac season'. Lilacs and other pretties should be blooming south of the border. Errands are conveniently located near profusions of lilacs and other signs of life. Such a sweet-smelling day...

Today brings out my best, am modeling at Macy's spring fashion show for their "INC" brand.
Tonight brings dinner at Lucille's BBQ...full fun day and yes, flowers are blooming, spring has arrived.

Irene, Post back how the modeling went....hope it will prove to have been a lot of fun for you!

I finally got my oil change. I get them free at Nissan, so I went there. The shops weren't offering a high enough fee.

Just got home, it was a long day as I didn't know the town has a premier group of want to be models and movie actors, this was in their behalf with a half dozen INC customers (like me). We did it in the mall outside of Macy;s on a red carpet with music....yikes, had I known, but I met a couple senior woman and had a good time, even though it will be my last. I have done it before, this time was more time consuming and my feet hurt.

Well, not many of us regular folks will have an opportunity like you had today. I'm sure you are indeed tired. Soak in a hot tub for a while. But I hope it was an interesting and pleasant experience for you over all.

Watched Dumbo The Elephant movie. Loved it. Shopped at Costco and the local grocery store. I am in love with Costco and I always wonder why we were stick with Sam's all these years. Hubby wants to keep Sam's membership as well since we have a locked in rate of $20 a year and he gets free tire rotations. Picked up a bag of Quinoa which is much frowned upon by you know who!

I love I.N.C.! They have very nice clothing. Do you get to keep what you model?

No keeping anything, Macy's not giving anything away, but was fun and a learning experience meeting new people.

Macy's... not giving anything away... The last time I was in the nearest store, they had about 70% of the merchandise on deep discount I thought that store was going out of business! It is still open. If I can find a few spare bucks, I might pop in and look at a brand that fits me well. Anyway, your modeling experience sounds interesting, Irene.

Macy's is known (now) for it's 70/80% off sale racks, but many things were so pricey it's still expensive, but if you have the time, yes, the clothes are quality with great styles and good brands. I buy 99% of my clothes there.
They didn't give anything for doing the fashion show, guess you missed that part....thought maybe the outfit we were wearing, but nothing as expected.

There's an original I Love Lucy episode where they Ricardos and Mertzes are in Hollywood, and Lucy gets to model a fashionable ladies outfit, and she gets to keep it at the end of the fashion show. Wish that had happened for you, Irene! But still glad you enjoyed it.

No problem, I really did it for fun, not expecting anything.

I made roasted veggies for dinner. I saved the seeds from the mini bell peppers and set them aside to dry and grow. The tomato and pea plants in the big pots are flourishing. The greens were set outside (sunlight) and are starting to stand on their own.

I will be having windowsill salad this summer!

I am finishing a Hap and Leonard book. Move over, political correctness! Bwahaha. Next is work, more work, and still more work when I return home.

Husband got an extra refund of $888 from the IRS. It was an error so he reported it. The associate at the IRS office was surprised and said "Wait, you want to give money to us?" She talked to her supervisor and he said that we could keep the money. They said it would take more to process the refund. They attached a note on the file for the error and said that they were impressed with his integrity. Woo hoo!!

I'd get something in writing from the IRS before I relaxed. Otherwise, 5 or 10 years from now, you might open a letter that reads: "Back in 2019, you kept an overpayment of $800 that was not returned to us. Calculating interest and penalty fees, please now remit $25,000,000.01 to us within the next 10 days!" ... Not that bad, but still, I'd get something in writing from them if I were you.
