What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My heart aches for all who have been affected by this. We have friends and family very near the school, and it was a horrifying few minutes until all were accounted for.

Sad and angry over the high school shooting. To all those people who are always quoting "statistics" about how shootings have gone down, the kids who died were not statistics. When does it stop?
It will stop when absolutely no one is making it okay to misuse and abuse people, critters, concepts, principles, and things. That is bedrock. *sigh*

I don't know what the world is coming to. When I heard about the shooting on the radio I first thought they said it took place in Santa Clara (in the San Francisco Bay area) which is where my son and his family live.

Santa Clarita or Valencia....just beyond sad.....

So it is new glasses day. This is a good thing. Thanks to an early-ish start time for the early job and the extra work, I have options. I can come home and do house tasks or leave early and shop on the fly on the way to my appointment. On this rare day, there is time to complete reports and sleep.

My Friday morning meeting. Middle of the month grocery shopping. UPS Store to send off boxes of Oldest Son's stuff to get it out of my house. (Pleasantly surprised that one 40-pound box and one 28-pound box only set me back a little over $80-including the price of the boxes.)

I should be doing homework, but I'm here. New Guy, things are going very well. I made a turkey stew yesterday that turned out amazingly delicious.

Only two weeks late, I watched the first episode of the third season of Agatha Raisin. It was the haunted house tale. Quite a few zingers punctuated this whodunit. grinning smiley I had planned to do this for Halloween. But today was a perfectly good day for AR.

I've spent the day working on narratives for an apt shop i did yesterday, and also working on my spreadsheets. Next I will go to the library and then pick up chinese for dinner. I hope to see a good movie tonight before I hit the road tomorrow for shopping.
So we went out for a few errands and came back with useful layer-able garments, snowy shoes, and an extensively discussed schedule. Depending upon weather in all the cities where I work, we might change all the work days. I love that all my merches have generous time frames and reports that are completed in-store or shortly after I leave each location.

Being my new and acceptable lazy, I am watching T.V., playing Candy Crush on computer, waiting for my pizza to be ready and will at some point water plants and sweep garage. My daughter and her company are going to Greece, will bid her a safe goodbye and mull over my next move. Great weather in the 80's.

I am sitting around the house. Weather isn't bad today. I finally took a shower and got dressed...at 3 p.m., LOL! I should go do some work but just not feeling it.
Yesterday was a mountain of laundry. Literally. Today was church and homework.

New Guy came to church today. We went to coffee hour after service. The Church Ladies were all over him (in a good way). He asked me what I had planned after church. I told him a wine run and homework. I did not invite him home for turkey stew :-(.

Moments ago, I finished the 2020 budget. If all goes well, I can select a few fave projects and scarcely work as an IC. This is a huge relief for us. We spend enough time with the hubby job and extra work for it and we need to re-allocate time and energy for such goodies as Sabbath rest, sleep, and visits to Nature when the weather is fine. We have needed this for more than two years (since the hubby changed his job substantially). If roads are clear and no one has made a big ol' mess for this merchandiser to clean up, I should finish the remaining merch projects within three busy days. This is how my work should be next year: a few busy days that recur for certain projects and the rest of the time free.

Took up the last of the dead plants and perennial foliage. Emptied the compost bin, tossed the 'uncomposted' scraps back in, and spread the remainder. Cleaned up after myself.

Later in the day took a walk with Hubby. Let him do his Sunday job of cooking dinner.

Oh. Plants... We have to get rid of some... the hubby did something,.. the story is not exactly clear... and now, we need to get rid of whatever remains of some of them. The only thing I am somewhat certain of is that he does not know what succulent means and he bloats those plants. Oh, well.I can take back this little task as soon as my current spate of merches has ended.

Would this be considered "meaningless information"?

Retract the claws!

Irene, the "meaningless information" comment was what should be looked up on public library systems in case their networks are not secure.

SEA, I left a succulent outside in the frost. It turned to mush. I'm hoping it revives itself.

As a former desert dweller I do not think it will revive itself. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm spending an hour or so on the computer waiting for the sun to come out. Then everything else I do will fall under the heading of shopping.
Regarding the succulent, I will give you what some refer to as, "a lawyer's opinion." It depends. I have a few succulents in my front garden that are perennials, even in our climate in the DMV.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Do I smell a bit of jealous, guess not,(just a proud Mama talking).....today is Allergist's Appt., to get tested, as they got a pill that relieves dust, and I'm hoping it;s available for me (Ins. wise). Then the library to fill out Real Estate forms, and our library is secure as long as we log out...I like the big screens and help gotten if needed.
Lunch at Japanese BBQ, home for report and stuff around house......will be in the high 80's today, then light rain
(fingers crossed) tomorrow. For the record in case some care, my daughter has her license, but now is on the facility after getting her second Masters, and gives lectures on Emotional Intelligence,, which helps, not hurts, and is Director of Coaching, working with business's.
Proud Mama, you bet........
p.s. Our school is still closed till after Thanksgiving for Therapists to help those grieving...community has come together in this time of sorrow .

Spent the weekend with my 3 daughters and granddaughter who had a birthday party. I grilled fajitas and more fajitas. So much fun and recharged my batteries.
wales, my succulent was on the deck in a container. The soil froze. Now the leaves are mushy and falling off.

Today is day 7 of cleanup after the fire. We are back in the house, but until we can afford remodel permits we are at a standstill. The gas company at least is coming out today so we can have hot water, but no furnace (electric fan/thermostat). We remain on generator power until we can afford to have the electrician rewire pretty much the whole house. Even though only one 20A circuit was involved, the old wiring here is no longer up to code, so we will have to update much of it before passing inspection. My $100 repair has now become a $1000 nightmare.

Since we already spent our savings on my son's funneral last month, we are just going to have to scrimp and save again. Our roommates are no help--one lost his job and the other had her hours cut, both within the last 2 months. They are both disabled, and can't help with the cleanup, either.

Oh yes, and my car was stolen a few weeks ago. We got it back, but they tore up the driver door and damaged the tranny. It's driveable, but will need work soon. That's what our savings was *supposed* to pay for.

The good news? The fire department did save the house, and no one was hurt. I have gotten several requests to speak about mental health and suicide, and we did get the car back. Tomorrow I am volunteering at a local community center to give out Thanksgiving baskets, and will see a friend I haven't seen since high school. He's a survivor, too. He came back from drugs and gangs to become a prominent local minister. It will be good for my aching heart to spend time with him.

I want to send a special shout-out to the American Red Cross, who kindly bought us a generator, gloves and masks for cleanup, and replaced our damaged meds. I also didn't know until this happened that our local disaster rep was my neighbor. So I made a new friend. Thank you, Linda.
