Honny, about 25 years ago when I had my first apartment, the landlord was a pill. He parked his van in our shared driveway (not his, the person on the other side of me) and never moved it. I had no spot for me and you weren't allowed to park in the street there. After repeated requests, both verbal and written, my Dad showed me how to remove the valve stem from his tires and we did it to all 4 of them. 2 days later, the van was gone. I have to admit that I have done it one other time when someone blocked me in, but I think about doing it so many times, just not worth getting in trouble in anymore lol.
And hope the new guy is better soon!

Fortunately, we were with our vehicle when it conked out and blocked several vehicles in a parking lot. We apologized personally and [possibly] prevented acts of vengeful vandalism to the vehicle. We all suffered in one way or another. We acknowledged this, but it was not good enough for the people who seemed to aim daggers silently at us non-stop until the most welcomed tow truck removed us and our vehicle from the odd scene.

The early job began late. While waiting, I found lovely classical Christmas/holiday music and enjoyed that. Such a treat! smiling smiley

New Guy is fine, thank you for asking!

I must say, I like your Dad. He taught you a valuable skill.

@HonnyBrown. It's funny. The same thing happened to me 10 years ago and I was very new in US. I didn't know what to do and I called the police. The guy talked to the officer and just sped off after a brief apology. I was so mad because I had wasted about 30 minutes not knowing what to do. I missed the sermon. I wished I could have done something like that!!

This guy got a ticket. I was happy about that. He turned out to be a guest of my neighbor's. The officer asked him why he would park in front of someone's garage, and he said, "I didn't know anyone lived there!"

I should have taken all 4 of the caps.

This week must be a good one for house selling, because we have a signed contract for ours, too! And to make it even better the buyers want to talk about buying some of our furniture (that I wasn't planning on moving to the new smaller place)

OMG, same thing for me, selling furniture...inspection tomorrow, very nervous, anyway, good luck to both of us.
Had handyman doing odds and ends today, tomorrow going to Brokers to sign more disclosure papers, has become a full time job.

Hubby and I have potluck Christmas parties to go to both tonight and tomorrow night. I got the two confused... thought I was assigned to bring a dessert tonight and a side dish tomorrow instead of the other way around. Thank goodness I realized my mistake early enough to prepare the correct dish!

Today was inspection, a few things to correct, no big deal...very nice inspector. Looks like things are moving along. When escrow closes, I am taking a trip, can't decide where I want to go, such a problem...smiling smiley.

DONE! I got mine in October, and asked him to get his as well. He gave a typical male response of, "Oh, I never get sick." It took a lot not to say "I told you so!"

One of my seasonal signatures is "Get your flu shot because I didn't."

Honny,
Now would be a good time to sell New Guy on the merits of getting an annual flu shot. If nothing else, to protect those around him, since he was probably contagious for some time before he realized that he was sick 79,000 deaths from flu last year !

The cold weather brought a huge cricket/spider hybrid into my laundry room.

The crickets always find their way into the basement apartment here every early winter.

First thing in the morning we closed on our condo. The agent gave us the keys, but we had to wait until early afternoon for the seller to do his paperwork before we could go in. Got the text when we were in the thrift store shopping for lamps. (Except for the kitchen and dining room the new place does not have any overhead light fixtures, which will be the first improvement we do. In the meantime I'll load up on cheap ones that I won't mind re-donating down the line.)

Spent the day with hubby. He had his colonoscopy and an EGD to check the top part of his GI system. Just one polyp on his colon. Not bad for a 78 yr old man who hasn't had a colonoscopy for 12 years! His EGD showed some duodenal ulcers, so he starts on a PPI tomorrow. The dr sent the polyp off for checking , which is normal. He also took scrapings of the ulcers for biopsy...he said if they show h. pylori bacteria, the whole thing might clear up a lot quicker with antibiotics. So, we'll see. All in all, pretty good. He's a tough guy, my man is!!!
Is that a real thing, c'mon.

Yep, JAS, very real.

I haven't heard from New Guy in two days. I don't know what's going on.

@HonnyBrown. Maybe he's still sick. I hope he is planning to call you. Do keep us posted.
@guysmom. Hope everything will be fine and yeah, he is a tough guy!!

They're also called "camel crickets", which we have seen down here in the south. Here's a web site about them:

Contact lens world is coming back into view. I can wear them! I will need modified versions of what I m now wearing, but that is okay. One baby step at a time, I will add makeup. Eventually, I will look like I have eyes. Until then, I can just look like something you would want to drag into a makeover show. [can you give it some eyes?]

I had three sets of china in my house. Kept the one I use the most, donated one to Goodwill, and gave the one that had been my mother in law's to my niece.

I also have Pewter service for four, that my daughter loves, so good thing they are buying a house next year,
she can do a lot of entertaining. I love dishes and setting a pretty table, but not doing much of that these days.
