What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Yesterday was the first day of school without kids... The staff now has one week to convert our current coursework into a distance learning curriculum. We have online classes starting in nine days. I saw the software we are using for this for the first time on Wednesday.... Today, I'm taking it easy.. Tomorrow I think I'll go hiking... Monday will be busy.

Our school is assuming we are all competent and ready to switch over to distancd learning while teaching new curriculum. We installed a video conferencing software on our teacher and student computers. We had a faculty day where we had seminars via distance learning using the software. I am wondering if we could actually have class like this virtually.
We have the added complication of political influence and a very fluid situation.... Another local school district started their distance learning more than a week ago. We modeled what we are planning around what they started.... The Superintendent of Public Instruction shut their program down on Thursday because it was not offering equitable access to all their students.... As our district plans our implementation, we have to wonder if our work is going to be for naught and if we'll just have to totally start from scratch again in about a week.

I went to breakfast with my son and then for a short walk. We are relaxing at home right now. I have a shop to do this weekend, and just need to decide if I am doing it today or tomorrow.
I'm cooking corned beef, but haven't decided if it will be for dinner tomorrow or on the 17th. Tonight Hubby and I are going out to dinner, after vetting the restaurant online. I know I'll be stir-crazy by then.

The early job began at sunrise (we are supposed to be finished by then). The good news about that is we got a few extra hours of sleep. Sleep and rest are good in health and illness prevention. The other good news is that sunrise is beautiful here, and I liked seeing morning all around town. I am still doing projects. Today, I purchased bins for items that need to go back to storage in better containers. There is no time to fill and store them today, but that can happen next week.

My daughter took a flight home from the Bahama's today...it took her 11 hours, plane four hours late, and re-routed,OMG, I caan't wait till she's in the states again. Her work said not to come in, office closed, work remotely from home. Cancelling a BJ's, don't want to be in crowds, hard for the elderly, Joy Behar leaving the show to stay out of crowds, panic everywhere, Niner, Gelsons has TP, stay away from Costco and Target, go to small stores.

Venturing forth into a ghost town (it is Spring Break and half the population is gone). We are looking for a few more foodstuffs and a hydration product. I would like to stay at home, but this is an opportunity to be away from crowds and get ready for a potentially longer quarantine and/or a general shortage of our products. Fauci was all over the news and making his case for preparedness. For me, this is sensible and likely to be good for my health. The projects wait (again!) for another day.

I cooked a lb of bacon and will wrap it up for sandwiches for a few days. I watched a bunch of Sunday morning news shows, something I haven't done for years since I am typically out of the house shopping on Sunday. Next is more laundry and then back to organizing. I am years behind so it's a slow process. Not going out at all is very strange and a whole new lifestyle for me. I will venture forth on Tuesday for the next stock up. We currently could eat for a month or so but now I want staples to make things in case the supply chains are interrupted. Just a few things like flour, yeast and powdered milk, chicken broth and boullions. I am trying not to over buy. For one thing we are doing all of this on credit and the bill will come due. Second I don't want to deprive anyone else of anything we didn't really need.
Work, nap, start new thread on forum. Pack up stuff that can go to the storage unit, put stuff in storage unit, re-arrange home to accommodate lots and lots of 'hunker down' stuff. Hunker down...
I went through my emergency supplies to rotate them . i always bag rice in baggies one cup each with a boullion cube. Pulled them out to use and will bag up another lot with the rice I just bought. Also pulled out the canned goods and will replace them with new ones. Also lots of beans and oats with flavoring packets. Ann has always rolled her eyes but Im feeling good about it at the moment. Did a bunch of cleaning on my shelf project. Two large shelves now empty . They can be moved out to make space for a twin bed. Next is figuring out whats for dinner.

Masking tape and a sharpie.
If it's good enough for hazardous waste it's good enough for freezer food.
Pro-tip: Fold the corner over for easier tape removal.
Work. Nap. Compare versions of the news. Depending upon whom you believe, good is nonexistent, unknown and obviously wrong which, therefore, is bad; bad is the new good; plaid is a polka dot; or whatever else some of them can figure out to do (and which we do not discuss here directly) in their little plots and schemes to twist and warp and advance their agendas... Clean out cars, work on projects, and try to get my next 'diploma' (ha,ha!) For a few cents, I picked up a six-pack of computer games. One of them involves getting a diploma for restoring old artwork by clearing away clutter. Find all the hidden objects, solve a few puzzle, and get a score from an international set of gallery owners. Bwahaha! But it is very relaxing and good practice for getting to the basic information which is obscured, twisted, shaved, and otherwise not presented to the public.
I am actually going to cook some corned beef and cabbage (and potatoes/onions/carrots) later on. Happy St Patrick's Day all!
I have to venture out and pick up my dogs meds and a grocery order. i am quite leery of entering the vets office but have no choice. i will attempt to keep a distance from other people but it's a tiny office. And of course i will sanitize my hands with my tiny bottle of sanitizer I'm hoarding after leaving. Then over to kroger to pick up the order and then home where I will wipe all products down with Lysol wipes before putting them away and washing my hands many many times in the process.

I am about to cook a pound of bacon and freeze it. Earlier, I fried up a pound of ground lamb, drained it and then sauteed onion, garlic and minced carrots, rosemary and salt and pepper. I will mix that all and freeze half of it. The other half will become shepherd's pie for tomorrow night's supper, topped with homemade mashed potatoes plus a little sharp cheddar. There will be leftovers for a future supper this week.

I stopped by the market to pick up a few things for myself and a neighbor. The shelves were bare: prepared meals, meat, soups, napkins, toilet paper, and, of course, hand sanitizer.

This is fun! Every day I work, take a nap, complete a few projects, do something fun, and do something ridiculous. I also scrutinize purported, alleged, questionable, and probably true news and do serious things. But overall, this absence of IC opportunities is a gas.*
