What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Work (early-ish but not as early as it should be). Errands. Read oodles of guidelines for recently added gigs.

I completed the three projects from yesterday and two more (woot!) before the back said, "Stop now. Or else." So today I will not annoy it for even one moment. grinning smiley

Shopping, but not MS. Heading to 5-6 thrift stores in small towns out in the Shenandoah Valley area. Also, driving part of Skyline Drive out there to enjoy the peak fall foliage. Hotel overnight on rewards points, so no report ! Now that I have a better idea pf what to look for for resale value, I expect to be able to move through each store a bit faster.

wales, I thought you were leaving on Friday! Regardless, have an awesome trip!

When I was going through the loan process I found out my license expired in September. I have to make an appointment to renew it so I can show my ID. I thought I could do it this weekend. December is the earliest appointment that I could get.

After doing some damage during Amazon Prime, they didn't have the LG TV that I wanted. When did a 32" screen become small? I found exactly what I wanted at Best Buy and it was on clearance. That will be here on Friday, the bulk of my Prime Day purchases will be here on Saturday and odds and ends will come Sunday and Monday.

Thrift stop shopping was educational but not very productive yesterday, Preliminary findings:
Shops that benefit hospices have the highest end goods. I guess that survivors donate because they are grateful. My family did so 20 years ago.
Other than the above, do not expect high end collectibles in areas with mostly modest income population.
Where there are many thrift shops, expect to find that the for-profit ones are already out of business.
Salvation Army shops do not fair well where they have a lot of competition.

Also, I was all ready to take pictures of my hotel room before opening anything. Then remembered that no pix were needed, and no report. eeeek, no NPR along my route and no public TV stations carried at the hotel.

Work was late sad smiley and this lateness shortened the time available for extra work. Oh, well. There is work! There is extra work! This is a good thing.

@walesmaven: great stuff comes and goes from those stores, even in unexpected place, along with the mediocre stuff. You never know when something nice is lurking behind an eyesore. Some stores used to (and perhaps still do) have websites. Also, some people might consign their higher end stuff in hopes of getting money instead of a tax donation from a charity.

wales, no NPR?! Leave!

You can download the WETA app for music if you like classical. They have a TV option as well.

My job pretty much does lunch on a daily basis. Sunday, I bought a pork roast kit from Aldi's. Monday, I took the BLT from Sunday's 5G shop for lunch with the intention on cooking the pork roast Monday after work. Lunch at work daily, so my pork roast went into the freezer.

I am looking for an apothecary chest for my entry. They are either counter top or over $1,000.

So a shipment was delivered earlier today when I was somewhere else. I arrived home, saw nothing, and thought nothing until I saw the e-mail delivery notifications. Now, i have to spend time that I do not have tomorrow tracking down my delivered stuff. Where, exactly, did it go?

Today was all about catching up on tasks that didn't get done while I was out of town....grocery shopping, laundry, downloading photos. Also had to do a kitchen once-over because Youngest Son (who was cat sitting) doesn't have the cleanliness standards I do.

I hope the heavy rain didn't ruin the leaf viewing.

Last day of isolation. Is one day enough to catch up on a week's procrastination?
I did that drive yesterday, and the route was quite busy. There are many, many scenic overlook turnoffs but there are exits only about every 25-30 miles, so it takes a bit of planning. I did about 65 miles of it. The views over the Valley were spectacular at 2500-3100 feet. I still hit 3 charity shops after leaving the park, before heading for my hotel. I had seen the weather reports and decided not to drive the very winding Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park in the rain. That road can be challenging on a dry, sunny day. And adding wet fallen leaves to that road sounded like a recipe for frustration, if not disaster. I have seen the view of the mountains from the valley here several times, so this was specially to see the valley from the mountains.

Work. More work times four. Back froze during more work 2. It has a few hours to perk up for more work 3. It only needs to last a little while for more work 4. Then, it can go home and get some tlc.

On a happier note, we are working in the 'burbs. What a gas this is. There are places we have not seen in decades. places that are... well... puzzling... for oldies but goodies, and a lunch place that I spied with my little eye a way off yonder on the way to somewhere else. If it is still open, I will go there for lunch on my dime.

I received notifications that some of my packages were delivered while I was at work. One item was a TV and of course today was raining. I left work at 230pm and fast laned it home. I brought everything inside and took the TV to the bedroom to unpack it. The screen was damaged. It looked like something fell on top of the box.

@HonnyBrown: Yikes! I was out of state when my alleged delivery occurred. There was no way to speed up the process of the long, planned day. I was out of state and out of town today, but the shipper sent me a follow-up survey to find out what I could not tell them. I attempted their survey so that I could fit in my little tale of woe in various places where explanations could be added. I had to stop when I reached the question about the appropriateness of box sizes. There was no option to roar, "How the hell should I know? I never received the blasted things!"

@HonnyBrown..Sorry, what a hassle! Our stuff from Amazon was delivered yesterday and today. Nothing fragile like electronics, just a bunch of household and kid's stuff and everything looked fine.
Tomorrow, there will be work and a lil' trip to a store to talk about my missing stuff. In a perfect world, they will refund the card I used. Then, I will purchase the same stuff on-site with a card that gives more money back for purchases. Should have done that in the first place! grinning smiley
*eta*

That did not happen. After finding Luke 6:30, I realized that a) I did not know what had happened; b) the person in customer service who thought I should check the post office for a FedEx delivery might have misheard me when I spoke through a mask while there might have been background noise from their workspace; and c) I already made up the monetary amount (without knowing this in advance) by adding assignments. Easy come, easy go. Put on the big girl pants and take responsibility: Next time, specify delivery conditions. Find an even more cost efficient way to have the items I ordered. grinning smiley

I had 3 Amazon packages today in addition to the TV. I haven't opened those yet. I was really excited about the TV since I am transitioning all of my electronics to LG.

Best Buy is the only one who sells 32" LG TVs, so I am stuck with them.

Pulling everything out of the dining room except the table and the large hutch. Cleaning all surfaces. Reorganizing to shrink the footprint of all of the boxes and packing materials stored there to open up space on the table for photographing, packing and shipping items that I am selling or Freecycling. Pause, to figure out what to do with "other" stuff that may need a new home, either in this house, in the trash, or donated to someone/place.
Starting to list some items on Ebay.

peg,
Not sure about you, but I am finding all sorts of stuff that I had forgotten that I had. And, of course, a whole ton of outdated paperwork that can be recycled !

Yikes, maybe I am glad no deliveries available at my house.

Today, I am attending online substitute teacher's conference. Something I always look forward to, but at least they did this.
Honny, so sorry to hear that about the TV. I hope it all gets straightened out for you!
@HonnyBrown..Best Buy would sort that out for you, won't they? I hope they do. We have two Tv's and one of them is a 32'' LG set up in front of my treadmill. We have a bigger 42'' Samsung in the Living Room. The 32'' LG was a steal from the Dell website for $98! My husband keeps bugging me about getting one of those giant TV's and I keep turning him down. I don't like my eyes wandering all over a screen and he thinks I am just silly.
Mum, I filed a claim with UPS. I'm going to wait until Black Friday to try Best Buy again. I didn't know Dell sold TVs. I thought they were just Dell computers. I'm going to take a look at their site.

I'm still shopping. I bought a stainless steel, hands free trash can during Prime. The volume is larger than the can I have now, so my trash bags don't fit. I had to find bags and that led to more stuff that I quasi needed.
