Going Christmas shopping in a bit.
Getting re-acquainted with the quirks of The Sunday NY Times Crossword puzzles. I used to do these all the time, even carried around a whole book of them. But, after a hiatus of about 3 years it takes some time to sync my brain with the deviousness of Editor Will Shortz.

Even though I rarely sleep through the night Shop-et-al, I would hate having to work during the night.
Hubby and I took car into town for repair. They didn't have the part!
I turned down a substitute job while in town as it would have meant Hubby driving into town again to pick me up!
Anyway, learned to use my electronic gift card to Tim Horton's.
Now to clean, organize and unclutter the whole house. Once and for all! ROFL

We cut back our physical newspaper subscription to Sunday only. The puzzle page includes rwo crossword puzzles- the NY Times and an unbranded one. By myself I would never be able to tackle the Times, but they include the answers on the back of the page so i can complete it with a couple of peeks. Takes me two days.

Part of my walk today took me through a strip mall parking lot. There was a man sitting in a folding chair playing an accordion, using a karaoke music machine to provide extra instrumentation. He had a hard-to-read sign next to him, but the gist was he had lost his job, had a family to support, etc. A teenager sat in another folding chair next to him
I've been scammed enough that I don't give money to down and out people, but this felt different. It was about 40 degrees outside, and this man was putting the tunes out there. I looked in my wallet and only had a $20 bill, but gave him all the change I had. Both he and the teenager thanked me.
On my way back to the car the man was standing up and dancing around while still playing his accordion.

Slept late (last time until next Monday), made a sternly worded task list, and played on the internet. I found good news, silly jokes, & levity. I reworked my task list and added humor, celebration, and permission to enjoy the absurd whenever it presents itself for consideration.

A friend asked me to speak at a Zoom meeting she was chairing. During the middle of my talk I looked at myself on the screen and realized I REALLY need a hair cut! According to the new CDC regulations for COVID quarantining (10 days if symptom-free, and so far I am) Thursday could be a Great Clips day.

Tomorrow is a great day because there is no class....Just one teacher meeting. I need to check some virtual papers, figure out what gifts to get, unpack a box or two and maybe, just maybe put together the Christmas tree.
Late/should have been early job. Errands. Spend no time chortling and celebrating progress with the seemingly endless projects. Just do a few more of them, haha. 
One of my fave chairs inexplicably sprung a rip in a noticeable spot. The solution? Find a truck, take the chair and its mate (and the table between them) to thrift, dump, or somewhere, and bring back three pieces from the storage unit. This will change up the so-called decor for free and provide more space in the storage unit for things that are ready to go back there.

I bought my first Christmas tree. I hadn't planned to get one because I'm not home much. Or wasn't until the covid. I did a Goodwill shop and got a 4 and a half foot tree on impulse. Still packed in a Garden Ridge box and has never been opened and used. But now I have to decorate it.
I bought some succulent plants by mail. One of the two wasn't. The clay pot was filled with dirt but had no plant. The second plant, a banana, shriveled up and died. It wasn't due to anything I did...I had it less than two weeks.

On my commute across a drawbridge on a rainy Saturday, I saw a car tailspin from the fast lane into the right barrier. From where I was, it was a cascade of weird lights in the dusk. I didn't realize what it was until I passed the car and the headlights were facing me.

The day did not start out well when the local newspaper website wouldn't load and I couldn't read the comics with my breakfast.
Other than that, I will be preparing for a "potluck for two" meal tonight. An organization Hubby belongs to is having a virtual meeting to give out some donations to charities. Traditionally the event also includes a potluck. There's no way I can recreate the normal 50+ dishes, but for grins I decided to do a riff on a tapas meal. I've already prepared four simple dishes, including an adorable plate holding four deviled eggs, and will go to the store later to pick up some meat. (The real thing always includes smoked pork roast and fried chicken).
Can you tell I'm going stir-crazy in my quarantine :-)

After early job: look at gigs for January, listen to something wonderful, and de-clutter three tiny places at home. Finish few errands, clean out one car, and look at new printers. Enjoy fave workout, finish laundry, and make shopping list (not a shop).

The temperature is very nice and was warm yesterday. I planned to do some yard work today but even though it is still warm it is raining. I guess I'll put up my Christmas tree.

Finally finished with my Christmas shopping. Got packages under the tree and 3 boxes ready to ship on Monday or Tuesday. Now onto Christmas cards!
The carefully planned day is unfolding at the speed of molasses. It's okay. It means that I get to postpone all tasks, projects, and errands and keep only the work, more work, and still and seemingly ever more work. But for fun, I might pop into a fave bookstore and have a look-see.

Walked through the small downtown area of the city I live in. Found an ornament for our collection that's perfect for 2020-the word "Hope' with a stylized dove flying over it. Stopped int a bakery, which is now a collaboration between the retail arm and a sheltered workshop. Bought some sweets and coffees-the associate threw in a loaf of French bread.
