What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Had my ultrasound done today which was recommended as an additional precautionary measure to the mammogram. Watching Hoarders. There is some horror and guilty pleasure in seeing people's houses packed to the ceiling. I like when it is all cleaned out but the drama that unfolds is sometimes better than a daily soap.

MId-morning bike ride to beat the heat, then lunch at a local coffee shop. After showering Hubby left for an eye doctor's appointment, and I took a nap. Tonight-Zoom meeting.

So I went into a store and was treated as if nothing were grotesquely amiss. Love them! And, I am thrilled with the sandals I bought there. These shoes are completely waterproof. Me-proof. Huzzah! It was especially easy because the store's website is up to date and informed me that my size was available at the price that was on the shoe tag. Such a pleasure. I went into a second public place-- legs and all-- and got a few glares, a few stares, and two averted eyeballs beneath two wrinkled eyebrows. Bless their hearts. Meanwhile, I am binge-watching old cooking shows. My Kitchen Rules is interesting, even now. Different countries, different chefs, different teams of home cooks. At this point, I think I could get the correct chili profile and balance; cook the risotto properly; and have backup plans B-Z in case the meat is raw or burned or some other calamity disrupts plans. Pretty good for a rank amateur, haha.

I stopped by Aldi after work. They had fiddle leaf fig trees this week. Mine died a few weeks back so it was perfect timing. I was disciplined and didn't buy any snacks or pastries. I did buy the coconut cashews because it would have been wrong not to.

At leisure today and contemplating a few errands. It will be very hot, humid and a "Code Orange" for bad air quality. That means NO outdoor exertion for me.

I understand, Wales. My blistering 'Where the heeeellll is the shade?!??!?!?!" rant is for me, you, and anyone who is unable to find relief from overwhelming heat/humidity. It might be quieter to plant tress on Arbor Day... grinning smiley

Getting a wash, cut and style for my hair. I just LOVE IT when someone else is washing and rubbing my scalp....ooohhh! Feels so good!
Next month's financials. Laundry. Sending hubby to do the errands. Listing every noticeable aspect of improvement and healing (this is very encouraging). Cleaning just one area and relaxing for the rest of the day because tomorrow will be filled with *gasp* my long-delayed return to neglected tasks and projects.

We interviewed a cat sitting prospect for our trip out of town next month-a sole proprietor who does this full time. Both the humans in the house and the cat were impressed.

A cat sitter? I used to leave my cat food, water and a few litter boxes when I traveled. Maybe that was why he plotted my death while I slept.

A full day of teaching....No work tomorrow so that is good. When I got home there was a snake on my patio! I think it was a garden snake.
Cats will do that :-)

Adding to that encouraging list of anything at all that can be construed as progress and healing. Working on old projects. Watching My Kitchen Rules - UK. The current episode features foods from ~ 1300's to ~ 1600's. I was just waking up from a nap when the erudite home cook was providing the history lesson for this theme and I missed a few details. I won't re-watch because in this day and age, I can go online and find the range of dates which vary by moments and places. And... it's on to the next! Must find out what the next pair of home chefs can accomplish...

After lunch Hubby and I bought birthday presents for 3-year old grandsons. I came home and signed up for post office shops to mail them. Tonight for dinner will be something that I didn't cook.

Waiting for grandson to show up for a visit. He seems to be taking a tour of the whole province to get here.
Time flies when you don't have to work. Took Fiona to the dog park. It started to rain. Picked up daughter from day care early intending to take her to her speech session. Was running late so I had to cancel. My car *passed the emissions test!

==Making chicken noodle soup. Yumness! Finishing the last season of My Kitchen Rules - UK. Chipping away at tasks and projects. *This is not medical advice!* Found out that some studies were correct and that small doses of Acetaminophen & Ibuprofen together drastically reduce the discomfort here. *That was not medical advice. It is information that you could find. May you never, ever, need it. !* I can walk more, but still not far or long. It is too soon to get back to work. but I made a few adjustments and can squeak by for a few more weeks until working is safe for me again. I am doing more at home and accumulate activity and steps. It's all good.

Still working on that list of progress and healing. Three little projects. Contemplate July 4.

Finishing one report. Treating a very sore neck and shoulder area with heat, and rest. One load of laundry.

Something like that lol. They changed one destination due to timing of all their visits, so we didn't know where they were coming from. We were confused to hear where they were as it didn't seem to be on any route we expected them to be on. As it turned out, they chose route based on charging stations for their car.

Today, I am lamenting how spread out our family is. Grandson is gone.
Hang out laundry and weed the garden is on my list.
The state of Missouri has a new program that will give us a partial rebate of gasoline taxes if form is filled out and submitted. Hubby sent me the fillable PDF and asked me to transfer in info from my receipts. It worked like a charm on his Windows laptop, but had no functionality on my Mac desktop. After entering factual information (date/location/number gallons) I sent the document back to him. Hopefully it will properly compute rebate. Otherwise he will have to calculate everything by hand.

Met up with some friends for brunch this morning. I had ranchos huevos and tea. Delicious!

Dear Daughter was a handful this morning. Silly me thinking a trip to the park before church was a good idea. Well long story- short....she didn't want to leave and started screaming as I tried to get her to the car. On a positive note... she took a good long nap when we got home and I was able to do some laundry.
I decided that fried chicken sounded good for dinner, so we ate yesterday's dinner leftovers for lunch. Went to the mall to walk, then grocery to pick up chicken fingers. Hubby wanted apple pie, but they were out. I substituted apple hand pies, which have the advantage of not needing ice cream to go with them :-)

It's too hot for our tastes, so we will skip on outdoor evening activities.

I stopped by Goodwill to pick up a flower pot for my fiddle leaf fig. This was not a shop, so I paid attention to the prices. For what they charged on the items I looked at, I could get something new from Target for the same price.

Now that I no longer look like an evolved boiled red puffer fish with tender skin flakes as garnish, I feel less traumatized and ashamed when I leave the house. (I had to complete a work day looking like that. I did not anticipate such a colorful reaction to medication. I refused to cancel. AaaaaHHHHHH HHHHH!) But I am not going far today. If I am awake later, I will venture to the sweet spot on the porch and watch fireworks. This is the official, sanctioned display. I am lucky to live close enough to see the fireworks without leaving home. If I am asleep, that is okay.
